* LovableSexManiac: The increased awareness against sexual harassment via the #MeToo movement have made this trope DudeNotFunny ''at best''. The only examples of this trope you’ll see nowadays [[ValuesDissonance are from foreign media]] or [[GrandfatherClause were introduced prior to the late 2010s]].
!!GirlOnGirlIsHot
--->'''Joey:''' [[MeToo Night.]]
** In "The One Hundredth", when Phoebe is giving birth and the gang goes to the hospital with her:
!!SettingUpdate
Distinct from RecycledInSpace in that the purpose is to make the story more familiar and accessible (as well as cutting production costs), whereas that trope is often based around transplanting a story into a ''less'' familiar setting. Also, by its nature, a Setting Update is typically made long after the original, whereas a RecycledPremise is usually a MeToo made [[FollowTheLeader to cash in on hot demand]]. Sometimes, especially with the more radical changes, it can be a genuinely clever analogy.
!!{{Spammer}}
* They don't have anything to say: Often spamming is [[HanlonsRazor a simple result of people lacking a good internal censor and simply disgorging the first meaningless phrase that enters their heads]]. This is the most common form of spamming and can involve everything from the insipid habit of the first person to reply to a thread posting nothing but "[[ForumSpeak First Post]]" to the hated MeToo. Either way, it's the forum equivalent of a half-empty can of diet coke.
!!UnintentionallySympathetic
* In 2018, Christiano Chiarot viewed ''Theatre/{{Carmen}}'' as this, misinterpreting the applause after the opera's grim finale as the audience approving of it. For context, Carmen is a freedom-loving Spanish Gypsy who loves and leaves men. Don José, a NiceGuy soldier, falls in love with her, only to become a CrazyJealousGuy ''because'' he's too attached to her. Carmen doesn't like that and resolves to leave Don José. Towards the end of the opera, she falls in love with a laid-back matador named Escamillo, much to Don José's chagrin. When Don José confronts her for it, Carmen [[DefiantToTheEnd defiantly refuses to return to him]]! In the end, [[IfICantHaveYou she is killed by Don José]]. By 2018, in the context of the MeToo movement, Chiarot mistakenly believed that the audience's praise of the singer's art was approval of DomesticAbuse, so he created a controversial production that ended with [[spoiler: Carmen shooting Don José, who in turn is [[AdaptationalVillainy vilified as a domestic abuser from the start]]]].
!!WhatHeSaid
Very common on internet forums, where MeToo is one of the archetypal [[ForumSpeak Online Personas]]. This has, in turn, given rise to the acronym QFT, "Quoted For Truth".
!!Characters.CobraKaiJohnnyLawrence
* PingPongNaivete: Reaches this in Season 3; he is both fully aware of the MeToo movement and still thinks a hashtag is called a hash brown.
!!Characters.HatchetfieldOutsiders
* SilentPartner: In a manner identical to Dan and Donna, they are a Lauren/Joey duo in which Lauren does all the talking while Joey does nothing but repeatedly spout a CatchPhrase agreeing with her; in Jangle's case, it's "[[MeToo That's right]]!" As if to emphasize this, when we go back into singing "Deck the Halls (Of Northville High)", Jangle becomes a regular ensemble member while Jingle joins Chris and "Chad" for the big dance center stage, even though they were presented to us as TheDividual (because Lauren's [[TheCastShowOff the best female dancer in the cast]]).
!!CriticalDissonance.{{Film}}
* The film adaptation of Music/MotleyCrue biopic ''Film/TheDirt'' received a 38% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was bashed for not being a good movie for the #MeToo era. On the flipside, it received a 95% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, became one of the most watched Netflix original movies, and resurrected the band's popularity to the point where they officially announced their reunion in 2019. Fitting, as it mirrored the critical/audience reception of the band it was based on.
!!DeliberateValuesDissonance.LiveActionTV
* ''Series/DoomPatrol2019'' showcases this for a multitude of the main characters' backstories, each of them having grown up in different time periods:
** Rita Farr/Elastiwoman was shown to have willingly allowed top talent managers to sleep around with attractive women in order to land herself prominent roles (and a traumatic flashback to her childhood shows her mother did the same on behalf of her daughter)--actions of which became far more infamous and unacceptable in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal and the subsequent #MeToo movement that spawned out of it, but were considered acceptable practices during the 1950s.
** Larry Trainor/Negative Man initially harbors doubts about his sexuality, having grown up during the 1930s when homosexual lifestyles were considered to be unacceptable, and spent his initial adult life married to a woman and having two kids, yet secretly having a relationship with another gay man, during the equally intolerant period of the 1960s. Of course, such attitudes have changed by the modern day, but he struggles to accept that his attitude about it is outdated for a while, though he eventually comes to accept it.
** Kay Challis/Crazy Jane is a victim of childhood molestation at the hands of her own father, with the resulting trauma and the subsequent medical procedures she was subjected too resulting in the splitting of 64 different personalities designed to further protect the young Kay from further harm. Such blatant ignorance of molestation is not tolerated under any circumstance in the modern day, but was tragically ignored during the 1960s and 70s.
** Cliff Steele/Robotman was very much a wild {{Manchild}} during the days before his accident, riding high off the fame and fortune his racing career came with. Such behaviors are not acceptable now, but were accepted practices during the 1980s.
!!DethroningMoment.LiveActionTV
* Tropers/CyrenaPeleman: [[RuleofDrama Of course,]] ''Series/SwitchedAtBirth'' had to do a RapeAsDrama story line involving Bay getting black out drunk at a party, and waking up next to her ex-boyfriend [[NiceGuy Tank]] of all people. Bay herself is trying to come to terms with whether or not she was "actually" raped. There are two absolutely horrible outcomes in this. One, Tank gets expelled from college, and has this slapped on his record forever. This isn't my issue. My problem is how Tank was also super drunk at the party, so it could be argued that it wasn't consensual on his behalf even though he was able to remember what happened. Obviously, [[DoubleStandard the arc doesn't focus on this.]] Next, it results in Bay and Emmett breaking up because he thinks Bay cheated on him! Hello, your girlfriend is trying to you explain what happened! This is after he's been a complete ass the past few episodes because of their LongDistanceRelationship, and how he's already met another girl. It gets even better. Emmett uses the story of his now ex-girlfriend getting raped [[MuseAbuse in his movie that Bay angrily expressed that she was against]] because it was clearly about her.
** It's been a couple of years since my original post, but I've felt the need to clarify it after reading it again, and the #MeToo movement. I was mostly disgusted with how the show did a "Questionable Consent" storyline, and how it was handled. I felt as if the show was trying to answer the question, "Was it rape?" when someone (specifically a girl) gets extremely drunk, and ends up having sex. I completely agree with the notion that it ''is'' rape because the consent was done under the influence, and not in a capable and reasonable state. The show went very far in saying Bay did not remember what happened at all. However, her rapist was also her very drunk ex-boyfriend. I felt as if some of the arguments the show was making could've applied to him, but no, he's just an irredeemible monster. Said ex-boyfriend had also been a nice boyfriend that Bay was ignoring to be with Emmett. Then, the writers decided to make it about Emmett and Bay's relationship with him saying she cheated on him when she was still processing the trauma. Then, he makes her trauma into a movie. All in all, I regretted ever being a fan of this show because of this plotline. At first, it felt like the writers wanted to make a grand message about the importance of consent, but then just trampled over it by making it about the drama. It sickens me thinking about it again.
** Daphne's behavior after Angelo's fatal accident. She blames Regina because they had a fight after she pulled a gun on Daphne because she thought someone broke in. What does Daphne do to cope with her father's death? She vandalizes a project designed to create jobs for the poor community that she was from, starts seeing a thug named Nacho, and does crack cocaine while visiting a college all to piss off her mom. Regina didn't even do anything wrong. She aimed a gun at her daughter on complete accident because the aforementioned Nacho threw a brick into her office with a threatening message. She has every right to try and protect herself.

* Before being MeToo'd, producer/distributor [[Creator/TheWeinsteinCompany Harvey Weinstein]] is infamous for recutting films without the consent of their directors, to the point that he has been nicknamed "Harvey Scissorhands" and "Darth Weinstein".
** ''Film/{{Fanboys}}'': The executives ordered so many changes that whole swathes of subplot make no sense unless you ignore them. The DVD version is a better, but it's still ridiculously obvious which scenes the executives demanded. The original still exists, and the director still has a print of it, but he's not allowed to show it to anyone. The director recounts the whole debacle in [[http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/08/23/the-filmcast-after-dark-ep-63-what-happened-to-fanboys-and-the-revenge-of-the-nerds-remake-guest-director-kyle-newman/ this podcast]].
** The 2013 South Korean film ''Film/{{Snowpiercer}}'' nearly went through Weinstein's editing machine as well, ignoring protests from the film's director, Creator/BongJoonHo (famous for ''Film/TheHost''). The original unedited film was a box-office hit in Korea, and it also got positive reviews after screenings in the UK. Weinstein cut the film by 25 minutes and edited it to play up the action at the expense of character development. Bong fought for the original cut, pointing to the negative press surrounding the recut, and he got his wish -- but Weinstein [[http://io9.com/us-release-of-snowpiercer-will-be-uncut-but-its-still-1518265822 scaled back]] the number of theaters that would show it.
** He also did this to ''Film/VampireAcademy'', much to the chagrin of its screenwriter, Daniel Waters.
!!HarsherInHindsight.BojackHorseman
* In Season 5, Bojack insists the guilt he feels over all his misdeeds means he's suffered more for it than any of the actual victims of his behavior. Diane immediately calls him out on this by bringing up [[spoiler:[[KilledOffForReal Sarah Lynn]]]], and Bojack has a lot of trouble trying to uphold his claim because of that. Just a few days before the season's release, Norm [=MacDonald=] got in hot water for appearing to have this view toward the people brought down by "MeToo", and then had a hell of a time finding the words to extricate himself.

** Touched upon in "Moo Moo" (4.16), which addresses police {{profiling}} and the Black Lives Matter movement when Terry is accosted by a police officer while walking in his own neighborhood. He struggles with the humiliation of the event while trying to navigate the political and the moral issues with filing a complaint against a fellow officer. He and Holt end up with a protracted discussion on how to deal with the situation, as Holt realizes that with his own command he needs to step up against such issues. Meanwhile, Jake and Amy have to navigate the delicate minefield of explaining all of this to Terry's young daughters.
** "He Said, She Said" in Season 6 is about the #MeToo movement and the harassment that women face, especially in male dominated areas - it begins with the investigation into a physical assault (that turned out to be a response to AttemptedRape) and Amy shares that she was sexually harassed by her old boss.

* DeliberateValuesDissonance: Both played straight and subverted. Each character's backstory includes behavior that was anachronistic and behavior that isn't at all.
** Rita Farr has a one-armed cameraman fired because his appearance disgusts her, although it's not clear whether it's because he's black, disabled, or both. (She ends up [[LaserGuidedKarma frighteningly disfigured herself]] shortly afterwards). Her Hollywood backstory includes the casting couch (this show was released during the #MeToo movement, which called attention to how little show business has changed).
** Larry's {{Gayngst}} is considerable and he considers himself a monster akin to a murderer or paedophile. This is not an unbelievable character trait for a military man of the 1960s who has been living in isolation since then but may surprise viewers who grew up in a more accepting time period. At the same time, a large part of Larry thinking he was a monster was the misery his double-life was causing his wife and his lover, which is a common result of infidelity regardless of the genders and orientations of the parties involved.
** Cliff's brief appearance shows him as a cheating, drunk, self-aggrandizing ManChild. It's all but stated this was lauded behavior in TheEighties (though hardly uncommon in any decade).
** In one of Jane's memories from when Kay Challis was going to school in the 60s, her (apparently Southern) school teacher portrays Abraham Lincoln [[HistoricalVillainUpgrade as an authoritarian trying to take away farmers' rights]] and the Confederates [[HistoricalHeroUpgrade as a group of heroic rebels uniting for the common good]], [[{{Hypocrite}} while being oblivious to the fact she just described them rebelling against the union by forming a union]] and seemingly considering slavery a 'farmer's right'. It's also apparent Kay was singled out in class by the teacher while her (all-white) classmates were encouraged by the teacher to laugh at her. Tragically, a parent sexually abusing their child while the other parent turns a blind eye is as much of a problem in any time in history.

!!StarDerailingRole.FilmActors
* Creator/AzizAnsari has had a lot of success as a TV actor but he tried to become a movie star by snagging the second lead role in ''Film/ThirtyMinutesOrLess''. However, after that movie underperformed at the box office, he has mostly stuck to acting on TV, except for voice roles in ''WesternAnimation/IceAge4ContinentalDrift'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Epic}}'' and a cameo in ''Film/ThisIsTheEnd''. It didn't help that he was ensnared in the #MeToo movement when a woman accused him of sexual misconduct in 2018 (though whether his actions fit the definition of sexual misconduct was heavily debated, even among feminists).
!!StarDerailingRole.FilmActors
* The complete failure of ''Film/BillionaireBoysClub'' on opening day, during which it earned only $126 across 10 theatres, has officially established Creator/KevinSpacey as box office poison following his exposure as the most high-profile gay sex offender to be hit by the fallout from the Harvey Weinstein sex scandal and the [=#MeToo=] movement. It [[NotHelpingYourCase didn't help matters]] when, after his accuser Anthony Rapp fired the opening salvo, Spacey tried to deflect by coming out as gay, a move that backfired when many people (especially in the LGBT community) accused him of feeding into [[AllGaysArePedophiles the highly offensive stereotype of the gay pedophile]].
!!Trivia.AllTheMoneyInTheWorld
* TroubledProduction: An example where the production was already ''done''. The film had the misfortune of being Creator/KevinSpacey's next film immediately after a wave of allegations of molesting young men for a long time became public. Just seven weeks before its release date, Creator/ChristopherPlummer was brought in to take over his role, requiring bringing back all the cast and crew members involved in every one of his scenes under severe time constraints. Thankfully, the reshoots were finished in just 8 days, managing to make its December 22nd release date. However, controversies surrounding the film didn't end there when the outrageous pay gap between Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams ($1.5 million for Wahlberg as opposed to $800 in per diems for Williams) for the reshoots were publicized. Williams later made a comment that she wasn't really bothered by this[[note]]She could have easily made the same demands given how quickly the negotiations needed to be wrapped up, but chose not to.[[/note]] while Wahlberg later donated his pay to the MeToo movement. But the damage was done at this point, and Scott was reportedly furious by Wahlberg's actions.

** The Washington Redskins changing their name in this timeline is also influenced by their OTL counterpart's decision this year during the Black Lives Matter/Antifa-related unrest.
** "Country Conservatives", "Bernie Bros" and "Neo-Hippies" can be more or less seen as the ''Kentucky Fried Politics'' equivalents of pro-Trump America First Republicans since they share the same ideology.
** As mentioned on the main page, the arson attack on the Zanesville BLUTAG Cactus Jack Bar is based on the deadly Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooting by ISIS which targeted its LGBT patrons. The same goes for the Ark Wave which was inspired by the [[MeToo #MeToo]] movement.
** Herman Cain becoming the first African-American senator from Georgia has become HilariousInHindsight with Raphael Warnock's victory over incumbent Kelly Loeffler in the 2021 Senate runoffs. Cain could also be seen as a political antithesis to Warnock as the former was a Republican businessman and CEO of Finger Lickin' Good Inc while the latter was a Democratic pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
!!Trivia.PrehistoricEarth
* CreatorBacklash: With two authors collaborating, both of whom had divergent views on how the story should play out, and one of whom may or may not have been suffering from major inexperience at the time in handling certain crucial elements of the story, there have been several instances of this.
** Luczynski has spoken out how much he wasn't entirely pleased with what resulted from several incidents of creative differences in which he lost out to Nathanoraptor. In particular, he has expressed displeasure with how his adding in Will and Matt at all (let alone the moment they made their introduction) prevented him from including scenes and events that would have [[CharacterShilling supposedly]] allowed Cynthia's character to be developed better. He also wasn't pleased with how Nathanoraptor altered Spiny the dimetrodon, as Luczynski had been hoping for this story to be an opportunity to promote a separate fic. The fact that he'd also [[HoistByHisOwnPetard vetoed an idea]] from Nathanoraptor involving Spiny that could have easily allowed for more appearances from him despite Luczynski's initial plans for the character now being obviated probably couldn't have helped his mood at the time either. On a less bleak note though, despite it being a case of his own idea getting cut, [[EveryoneHasStandards he was just as relieved as Nathanoraptor was]] that his original plans for Drew to unwillingly [[MarshmallowHell get his head shoved between Cynthia's breasts]] ([[WithFriendsLikeThese and by Cynthia herself no less!]]) didn't make it in after both the beginning of the #MeToo movement and the revelation of Harvey Weinstein's history of sexual predation [[DistancedFromCurrentEvents came about the same year in which Cynthia was introduced in the story]].
** For his part, Nathanoraptor himself has stated that he is not a big fan of Cynthia. However, despite what some say, he doesn't hate the character; his annoyance was with Luczynski trying to push her as the #2 main character of the story at the expense of other characters that Nathanoraptor planned to be important pieces of the ensemble but were reportedly considered 'just side characters' by Luczynski. And on the subject of Spiny the dimetrodon, he has also admitted to really disliking the version of Spiny, Lubbock, and Howler's misadventure that appeared in the final product due to Luczynski vetoing the version Nathanoraptor himself had wanted (and considered to be much better) without explanation.
** Furthermore, Nathanoraptor has also since admitted that Cynthia's introduction was one of multiple factors that have caused him to since largely consider the final episodes of Phase 1 (starting with Cynthia's introductory episode) and the earliest episodes of phase 2 to be his least favorite chapters (with ''The New Rulers'' and ''Life and Death Promised'' in particular being tied for his absolute least favorite chapters in the entire story of all time). As he himself explains, the introduction of Cynthia was, in his eyes, merely the straw that broke the camel's back and only [[FromBadToWorse exacerbated]] problems he was already having with the chapters due to [[RandomEventsPlot a lack of a clear underlying arc to these chapters' events]] due to the animals being rescued in those missions [[CripplingOverspecialization being either aquatic]] or [[ContrivedCoincidence largely confined to within a fairly short distance from each other]], [[SerendipityWritesThePlot being forced by resulting necessity]] to rely on the character interactions and set up of some of their later important arcs in place of the missing underlying arc for the sake of transitions, and [[CreativeDifferences disagreements with Luczynski over how best to handle Jack (and also, to a more minor extent, Leon), among other characters.]]
** For even further explanation on just why Cynthia's introduction proved so detrimental to the story in Nathanoraptor's eyes, he hadn't necessarily been opposed to the introduction of a brand new character. However, much to his regret, Luczynski ended up forcing Cynthia into the narrative at a time when the dynamic between all the other already existing and introduced prominent characters still hadn't yet been fully defined and set in stone. And as a result, with the existing dynamic between the already introduced prominent characters still in flux at the time of Cynthia's introduction, and some of the characters having very jarringly been done dirty by Luczynski long before Cynthia's introduction, the dynamic was only sent in further disarray after Cynthia was introduced and subsequently immediately forced by Luczynski into a prominent role to the point of being shoved down the readers' throats and into their faces against their wishes and trying to do even more of the planned prominent characters dirty for the sake of propping up Cynthia to the point it started to seem like Cynthia and Drew were the only characters Luczynski remotely gave a damn about.
** To make matters worse, as described below, Luczynski also tried to pull all the stops to allow Cynthia and Drew (his personal favorites) to be made basically the sole main stars of the story. To this end, he went so far as to attempt to downplay Alice, Leon, and Jack's prominence and make them irrelevant to the story by having some of their established traits be assimilated by Cynthia (who Luczynski tried to give both the intended hot-headed and impulsive nature of Jack and Drew as well as Alice's intended role as the confident and assertive woman on the team who'd have been competent enough to even sometimes get the boys out of trouble) and PE!Drew (whom Luczynski attempted to have assimilate Leon's resident animal expert status). And furthermore, with Cynthia seemingly starting to have the reckless, abrasive, and thrill-seeking personality that Nathanoraptor had explicitly planned to be given to Drew, it soon also became clear that Luczynski was now seemingly trying to undermine Nathanoraptor by having Drew be a straight Nigel Marvin type of character when the character was originally supposed to be a deconstruction/parody of such characters (to the point of his own arc being explicitly planned to be his eventually learning that his reckless tendencies so common in most such characters are ''not'' ok).
** And as if Nathanoraptor hadn't already been given plenty of reason to [[CreatorsPest dislike Cynthia]], he also really hated how her pairing up with Drew turned out. As mentioned above, he had initially been willing to give the character a chance, and had even gone so far as to plan to have her dynamic with Drew be something of a BelligerentSexualTension style pairing. Unfortunately, when the writing for her character ended up out of his hands and entirely Luczynski's responsibility, the end result proved in Nathanoraptor's eyes to be a very stale and cringeworthy sham of a romance with no proper buildup or development occurring prior to the hookup (which he himself wanted to have occur much later in the story than it did, only to be overruled by Luczynski), and only the most stereotypical and cringeworthy 'flirty banter' present to serve as the most flimsy of foundations, that he ended up hating to the point that he was thinking '[[StrangledByTheRedString Oh my god, she's supposed to be Drew's love interest!? They have ZERO chemistry!]]' even while only reading the versions of ''The New Rulers'' that Luczynski had sent to him for editing, refining, and final approval.
** Nathanoraptor has made it clear that he largely considers ''Devils of the Deep'', despite a couple of decent moments, to be largely underwhelming and not hold up that well in the time that has followed its creation and posting. And while he was initially quite proud of how ''Life in Transition'' turned out, he has since come to feel that Jack and Leon's antagonism against each other in that mission is now too blatant, that Adrian and Alice's scenes meandered and plodded along too much, and that the quasi-romantic nature of their scenes in ''Life in Transition'' (and also in ''Alien Empire'') now come across as rather awkward in hindsight as a result of the planned arc these scenes were supposed to set up ending up scrapped and replaced with Alice's 'will they or won't they' arc with Will.
** Nathanoraptor has also admitted that he really didn't like how Luczynski handled Alice, Linda, and Colette in the chapters that unfolded before Cynthia's introduction. Alice's characterization in ''New Beginnings'' as an incredibly nervous young woman during her earliest significant scenes in the story made him cringe due to how she was supposed to have already had plenty of prior experience with various dangerous modern-day animals, not to mention the fact that this characterization jarringly clashed with his planned characterization of her as an unflappable and levelheaded figure that she ended up thankfully having throughout the entire remainder of the story. In regards to Linda, Nathanoraptor took umbrage to how Luczynski left her blatantly LockedOutOfTheLoop on crucial information [[note]] specifically, just what sort of animals were supposed to be coming back to the park over the course of the missions [[/note]] during ''Devils of the Deep'' and unwittingly made her seem incompetent at her own job as chief veterinarian [[note]] specifically, she ended up needing Drew's assistance to figure out a solution to a problem that she logically should have been smart enough to figure out how to take care of herself. And if it hadn't been for Nathanoraptor managing to notice in time to intervene, Luczynski also very nearly had Khatin do a routine checkup on Squishy the anomalocaris despite such an activity being Linda's own job to do as chief veterinarian (though in all fairness, this particular element has since been admitted to have been an honest mistake on Luczynski's part due to him having had trouble remembering all the characters and their positions at the time and had legitimately ended up accidentally thinking that Khatin was one of the vets) [[/note]]. And as for Colette, Nathanoraptor was understandably not amused when, in what appeared to be ''blatant disregard'' for Colette's planned characterization he'd explicitly told Luczynski about, Luczynski chose to try to write her in ways that would frame her as a stereotypical one dimensional AlphaBitch instead of the ActionGirl JerkWithAHeartOfGold she was intended to be. Likewise, Nathanoraptor has expressed regret that Colette ended up also being criminally underutilized as a result of the additional problems that arose after Cynthia's introduction.
** In relation to the above mentioned instances where Luczynski himself engaged in this trope, Nathanoraptor was both just as relieved as his cowriter that the originally planned sexual assault laden first meeting between Cynthia and Drew never made it into the final product, and has also come to thoroughly regret including Kyle's sarcastic "I've just had to round up a herd of giant reptiles. Black rage doesn't even begin to describe how I'm feeling at the moment," line in light of recent [[UsefulNotes/BlackLivesMatterMovement BlackLivesMatter]] related events. Not even his changing the line to being sarcastic when it was initially planned to be shouted was enough to prevent Nathanoraptor from regretting ever including the line at all. It is for similar reasons that he now also regrets having the neanderthals be fair skinned and relatively good natured and honorable while the cro-magnons were much darker skinned and seemingly antagonistic (especially when, in regards to the latter, he was trying to have them be more TrueNeutral figures rather than outright antagonists).
** Nathanoraptor has also expressed regret for his reasons behind choosing not to go through with (or even tell Luczynski about) an idea he had regarding a potential past history between Drew and Cynthia. Nathanoraptor had originally considered having the two be ex-boyfriend and ex-girlfriend from a relationship they'd both had together prior to their working at Prehistoric Earth that had ended when one of them broke the other's heart. Nathanoraptor eventually chose at the time not to go through with the idea because he felt it would be too much of a coincidence. However, he has since realized that he was nitpicking too much, noting in particular that the readers would have gone with it perfectly fine without questioning it too much, and that sometimes the story has to come first (regardless of how overly convenient some elements might be in context).
** As stated above, Nathanoraptor considers ''The New Rulers'' and ''Life and Death Promised'' to be his least favorite chapters of all time. In the case of the former, it's because of how Cynthia's introduction caused too many subsequent problems as well as exacerbated problems that were already present prior to her introduction. And in the case of the latter, it's a mixture of the 'episode's' structure not quite working all that well in his eyes, some of the jokes (one of which he himself wrote) being rather embarrassing attempts at comedy, the meta subplot about the park staff 'discussing future plotlines' feeling more irritating than humorous, the entire thing proving a rather unsatisfactory resolution to Leon and Jack's arc together involving their past antagonism and later ending up working to get out of suspension from active rescue mission work, and the staff meeting (despite including a few funny lines) not really adding anything to the story apart from a few details that readers would have potentially already guessed and a single plot point that ended up getting anticlimactically resolved at the very end of the 'episode'. He was also not a big fan of the plot point of Leon sneaking through the portal to accompany Drew and Jack on unauthorized leave.
** Nathanoraptor initially didn't like ''Degrees of Greatness' and viewed it as one of his least favorite chapters, but has since grown to like it a lot more than he initially did. Regardless, he still isn't a big fan of the 'recap' paragraphs included within part 1 of this episode, as he feels this [[ViewersAreMorons insults the readers' intelligence]].
** In contrast, a lot of the stuff that Nathanoraptor and the readers consider the best and worst parts of the story [[MagnumOpusDissonance appear to have their positions reversed in the eyes of Luczynski]]. While Nathanoraptor dislikes the majority of Phase 1 and feels very pleased with Phases 2 and 3 for the reasons described above, Luczynski considers Phase 1 to be the only good season of the entire story due to Phase 1 adhering the closest to his own personal vision for the story and feels that Phases 2 and 3 (the latter of which he himself had very limited, if any, direct involvement with) were where the story [[SeasonalRot only got worse and worse]] due to it becoming (in his eyes) more of a generic drama set in a zoo rather than the Animal Planet style 'behind-the-scenes-at-a-zoo' documentary he initially planned for it to be. Luczynski also came to seemingly be rather annoyed with all the planned prominent characters that weren't Drew and Cynthia due to how he allegedly viewed them as 'just side characters to Drew's story' instead of the ensemble of equal importance that Nathanoraptor had explicitly planned for them to be, and didn't like how they (in his eyes) [[SpotlightStealingSquad seemed to be getting all the focus given to them by Nathanoraptor]] [[DemotedToExtra and leaving Drew reduced to being a background player in what was technically supposed to be his own story]]. Leon and Jack in particular were two of the 'side characters' that he became especially annoyed by due to their popularity amongst the readers [[EnsembleDarkHorse unexpectedly managing to thoroughly eclipse that of Drew]] (to the point that it was theorized, and later blatantly admitted, that his introducing Cynthia was a deliberate attempt at forcing the spotlight back on Drew). He also claimed to utterly despise how, in his eyes, the story ended up seemingly prioritizing 'pointless romances, [and] a dumbass mole plot' over actual development of the park, making the rescue and care of the animals look too easy, [[TheyCopiedItNowItSucks becoming too derivative of]] ''Film/JurassicWorld'' and ''Film/JurassicWorldFallenKingdom'', and [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot completely wasting the potential]] of the original ideas behind the plot of the villains related to the Novum Board. And finally, he came to also grow immensely disappointed in how Cynthia turned out to be in the final product once the story was over and [[NeverMyFault blame Nathanoraptor for everything wrong with the story]] due to how Nathanoraptor had, in his own words, kept forcing focus away from Cynthia and Drew in favor of the 'side characters' and denying the two 'main stars' the chance at proper CharacterDevelopment (among other problems) despite Nathanoraptor [[MyRealDaddy arguably having managed to save the story and make it truly enjoyable to the readers]]. He's even recently claimed that he's considering maybe someday attempting his own personal rewrite of the story so that he can attempt to 'do this concept the justice it deserved' and allow a version of it to exist the way he himself had wanted it to be.
** In relation to what Luczynski stated in the retrospective, Nathanoraptor has gone on to address what his former co-writer has said. And while he defends his decision to have Sharptooth become an antihero instead of remain an antagonist as well as be more like a confused and antisocial GrumpyOldMan animal (since he felt that Luczynski's plans would have made Sharptooth seem too anthropomorphic and out of place compared to all the other more realistic animals), the smuggling operation's existence in the story (since it was intended to represent the 'bad side' of a symbolic clash between the good and bad aspects of human nature in general rather than a straight ShoutOut to ''Film/JurassicWorldFallenKingdom''), and the way ''Nightmare Labyrinthine'' ended up unfolding (since his intention was for it to be a homage to ''Franchise/{{Godzilla}}'' and Creator/RayHarryhausen style kaiju movies, not a straight up ripoff of ''Film/JurassicWorld''), and also admits that Luczynski may have been a bit harsher than necessary, there are a few things that he's admitted that his former co-writer made good points on and that he himself would have done differently if he were to rewrite the entire story all over again:
*** While he does defend his removing Thanatos from Drew's animal partner roster due to still believing that letting him remain there would have made Drew seem too much like TheAce, he does admit that the concept of animal partners for the staff wasn't utilized and explored to its full potential and that he hopes to do this idea better when its revisited in ''Fanfic/PrehistoricParkReimagined''.
*** While he reiterates that a planned scene that Luczynski himself vetoed would have allowed for the progression of the idea of [[GentleGiantSauropod Lightning the argentinosaurus]] [[LargeAndInCharge becoming the leader]] of all the herbivores living in Mesozoic Safaris, Nathanoraptor also admits that, in hindsight, there was a lot of potential story fodder in the 'compatibility issues suffered by all the herbivores living together in the park despite not doing so in their home timelines' plotline that was left criminally unexplored, should have had more done with it, and that he himself miscalculated just how much of a portion of the story the conspiracy plot line would end up taking at the time.
*** He admits that it probably would have worked out better if he'd told Luczynski about the idea of Cynthia being Drew's ex girlfriend from before they both started working for Prehistoric Earth instead of just dismissing it, as this would have potentially allowed for more interesting story opportunities involving her and a better dynamic between her and the other characters. And in the process, he reiterates that he never hated the character.
*** He admits that Luczynski's idea of Martha suffering from PTSD did seem like a good idea, but felt that there was nothing he could really do with the idea due to how close to the finale Martha's rescue occurred within the story itself. He nonetheless hopes to maybe incorporate this idea in some fashion in ''Fanfic/PrehistoricParkReimagined''. He also very much wishes that he could have at least been told by Luczysnki at some point (before the story was already finished) about the idea Luczynski had of a smilodon named Simba being amongst the roster and ending up gruesomely killing another rescued smilodon.
*** If he were to redo the story, Nathanoraptor says he would have allowed Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal to each have more distinct personalities instead of being seemingly interchangeable the way they were in the current final product.
*** Nathanoraptor also agrees that the romance aspects of the story did take up a lot more focus of the story than they probably should have been allowed; particularly since they did admittedly somewhat end up coming at the expense of developing both the conspiracy as well as some of the character arcs that didn't involve romance (such as Drew's PTSD from his brief marooning in the post KT-event Cretaceous landscape). However, he also makes it clear that, if he were to do the entire story all over again, he wouldn't remove them. Rather, he would try to balance them out more evenly with the other aspects of the story.
*** He also says that, if he were to do the story all over again, he would have allowed a considerably larger number of other animals to get a decent amount of focus in Phase 3 alongside Raksha and Sharptooth.

* '''Newbies''': Nearly everyone starts here. These are the board's new arrivals, often recognisable for their recent "Hi, I'm new!" post. After the initial meet-and-greet, a newbie will usually post sparingly until they get a feel for the board. Confident ones can find themselves quickly raised to the level of the Bright Young Things...or pushing some buttons when unwittingly upsetting the forum's heavy hitters. Smart ones will have trawled the archives and checked the Rules and Regulations before speaking up, but that doesn't mean that they're immune to mistakes. Most decent Mods will make allowances for Newbies, and [[ForumSpeak The Shepherd]] will take extra pains to make sure they're given a fair hearing. * The subject of man-on-woman violence is something of a CyclicTrope because of this.
** Up until the 1980s, it was taboo for a man to even so much as threaten a woman, be she a fan, a wrestler or a valet. While comedian Creator/AndyKaufman once had an act where he would wrestle a woman, the objective was never to injure the woman; this was more for showmanship and to sell his act to a male audience. The changes came in the late 1980s, when Wrestling/MissElizabeth -- the valet (and real-life wife) of Wrestling/RandySavage -- was shoved by the Wrestling/HonkyTonkMan, had her wrist and ankle broken by various heels, was slapped by Wrestling/JakeRoberts (after being made to beg for Savage's well-being), had her name sullied by [[Wrestling/AllenCoage Bad News Brown]], and was constantly threatened, all to the outrage of the face-leaning announcers; at one time, Wrestling/AndreTheGiant grabbed Elizabeth's hair and was planning to brutally injure her, but Roberts -- several years before he himself slapped Elizabeth -- stopped the whole thing. While Elizabeth was a face, the face-leaning announcers would invariably cheer when the heel [[Wrestling/SherriMartel Sensational Sherri]] was knocked around, usually by the Wrestling/UltimateWarrior[!]. At the same time, heelish announcer Wrestling/JesseVentura condemned Sherri being beaten up but blamed Elizabeth when she was in danger. (Even Wrestling/BobbyHeenan, during ''This Tuesday in Texas'', was shocked when Roberts slapped Elizabeth, sure that a [=DDT=] would follow.)
** During the late 1990s and early 2000s, it was common to see men beating up women. Wrestling/StoneColdSteveAustin was known to give the [[FinishingMove Stunner]] to multiple women, including Wrestling/StephanieMcMahon, Linda [=McMahon=], Wrestling/{{Chyna}} and Wrestling/StacyKeibler, all to loud cheers of the audience. But when both Wrestling/KurtAngle and Wrestling/{{Umaga}} brutally beat up Wrestling/{{Maria|Kanellis}} during two different matches, and later, when the 7-foot-3 Wrestling/TheGreatKhali began choking the life out of Wrestling/AshleyMassaro and shaking her like a rag doll to the point where she began [[BloodFromTheMouth bleeding from the mouth]], the fans were outraged. Between this and their attempt to clean up the product post-Wrestling/ChrisBenoit led to all man-on-woman violence being banned. With feminism having a resurgence in support throughout the 2010s and far greater social awareness of issues like domestic violence and sexual assault, this would no longer fly today.[[note]]Complicating matters in Steve Austin's case is that he was once involved in a domestic abuse case.[[/note]]
** Mocked during Wrestling/JeffJarrett's heel phase in the late '90s, where he became outrageously sexist and kept shouting at women to literally StayInTheKitchen, "barefoot and pregnant." It eventually led to a Crowning Moment Of Awesome when the entire female roster ran out and kicked his ass.
** And even the way some of the women were treated in the PG Era - where intergender matches all but vanished overnight and mixed tag matches had the iron clad rule that if a man tagged a woman in such a match then the opposing woman automatically entered the ring (in the video games at the time, a male wrestler even striking a woman would get an automatic DQ). Women wrestlers were even treated as automatically weaker than the males - AJ Lee did a storyline where she was left comatose for weeks after the Big Show accidentally running into her, Beth Phoenix said in a promo "we're girls" expressing fear of being attacked backstage and female heels would exploit male faces WouldntHitAGirl - which comes across as extremely sexist as of WWE's taking women's wrestling more seriously and having a little more intergender action towards the end of the 2010s. They were contrasted with ''Wrestling/LuchaUnderground'', who freely had intergender competition happening even from the first episode.
** Ever since the WWE Divas Division was rebranded as the WWE Women's Division back in 2016, the WWE has stopped doing sexualized matches such as bra-and-panties matches, pillow fights, costume matches and bikini contests due to a combination of the #MeToo Movement as well as WWE's desire to treat its female talents as equals to their male counterparts.

** Throughout Season 5's takes on "MeToo", we never get an update on Hank Hippopopalos, after his episode was noted to have been made an unusually fast UnintentionalPeriodPiece by the rise of the movement, especially due to the downfall of Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein, the real life people he's based off of. Not even Season 6 brought it up, despite bringing back Vance Waggoner to tackle the issues of cancel culture.
** Whenever [=BoJack=] gets a woman pregnant, his immediate response is to give her money for an abortion and cut off all contact with her. This was only given a passing mention early on in Season 4 even though it's easily one of the sleaziest aspects of his character.
** [[spoiler:In Season 5, [=BoJack=] causes a car accident in order to get more pain pills to fuel his addiction. The show doesn't acknowledge the fact that this was the first time [=BoJack=] has knowingly and willingly put other people's lives at risk for his own benefit.]]
** In the latter half of Season 6, [[spoiler:Pickles dumps Mr. Peanutbutter for Joey Pogo, leaving Mr. Peanutbutter to deal with not having a romantic partner for the first time in decades, leaving him to seek therapy and even write a memoir]]. However, the bulk of this happens either in very brief intervals ([[spoiler:Pickles dumping him]] is practically done as a throwaway gag via text message) or offscreen, which is especially disappointing since [[spoiler:Mr. Peanutbutter]] has been more resistant to change and growth than any other main character and yet we barely get to see his process of actually admitting fault and bettering himself.
** Some fans feel like the show would have been better if it'd been a straight drama with some comic relief rather than a comedy that takes a lot of dramatic turns, the conceding opinion being that the particular brand of self-aware comedy it starts on is decent on it's own but doesn't bode well with the melodrama it eventually evolves into, and is nowhere near as compelling.
** Flip's treatment of [=BoJack=] in "The Light Bulb Scene" is [[https://slate.com/culture/2018/10/bojack-horseman-metoo-moment-overlooked.html clearly a form of sexual coercion]], a rare instance of male-on-male abuse in a show that largely focuses on misogynistic abuse. This is because the West and Japan have different ideas as to what degree being "selfish" actually means. In Japan, self-sacrifice is a big part of their culture, even for the most mundane of things, whereas the West values independence and being forward with issues. ''Anime/DigimonAdventureTri'' even brings this out as a DeliberateValuesDissonance after Mimi comes back from New York in ''Determination''.
** Mimi often deals with a Digimon AbhorrentAdmirer pair who have adult voices and it's played for laughs while she is a preteenage girl. * ValuesDissonance:
** For a sitcom from the mid-90's, you can expect a lot of derogatory gay jokes, mostly directed at Chandler. ([[OffendingTheCreatorsOwn Note that series co-creator and writer David Crane is gay.]])
*** Especially in the episode where Ross, Chandler, and Monica were telling each other embarrassing stories. One of the first was Chandler drunkenly making out with a man dressed like a woman at a party. As the episode progresses, the stories get more and more humiliating (Chandler winning a Vanilla Ice look-a-like contest, Ross coming in fourth and crying '''and''' sleeping with the college maid, Monica being unable to tell time until she was 13 and ''eating'' the macaroni from a homemade jewelry box after being sent to bed without dinner.) However, none of these simply compare to "Whatever, dude, you kissed a guy." That alone undercut everything else.
*** When Joey is helping Treeger with his dancing, Monica asks Joey how it's going: "Gay yet?" Also crosses over to behind the scenes.
** "The One With The Rumor" had Brad Pitt's character and Ross started a rumor in high school about Rachel having both boy and girl parts, ending with Monica telling her she needs to get over it. That would have caused a lot of upset people today.
** Joey regularly mentions [[DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale picking up girls (in the college age bracket) when he was way under the age of consent]] (he knew [[TheArtOfBraRemoval how to unhook a bra]] at age ''fourteen''), something that never even gets mentioned by the other characters as, well, icky. He even once said that he ''[[SextraCredit slept with a teacher in seventh grade for an A]]'', to Monica, and she didn't even react to it.
** When Rachel takes Ross out to dinner with her father, Dr. Green pays for the entire meal but only puts out a 4% tip. He's portrayed as a jerk for both this, and for getting mad at Ross for leaving extra money on the table to pad out the tip. In the US, where waitstaff are often paid lower than minimum wage, Ross's outrage at the small tip makes sense (a common tip ranges from 15-20%, which can be a great payout for waitstaff on an expensive meal). In other countries where restaurant wages are better regulated, this is not common knowledge, and so Ross ends up looking more unreasonable for expecting a man who just paid for a very expensive meal to pay even more for the tip.
** Chandler making fun of Ross or Joey for taking part in any 'unmanly' activities. One episode had Chandler accuse Joey of turning into a woman all because Joey was trying to bond with his temporary female roommate by knitting pot cozies with her and learning floral arrangements. Ross likewise gets worried when Ben is found playing with a Barbie doll, and he tries to get him to play with a GI Joe instead. Ross also wants to get rid of Sandy the nanny just because he's a slightly effeminate male (though this DoubleStandard is repeatedly lampshaded in the episode itself).
** In Brad Pitt's episode, the gang make fun of Ross for making out with a high school librarian. The joke is because she was [[MayDecemberRomance incredibly old]]. But if you think about it, although she wasn't a teacher, she was still in an authority position and took advantage of a teenage boy. With [[DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale awareness of the double standard]] now more widespread, this gag would probably not fly today.
** Given the increasing epidemic of teenage eating disorders, a lot of the jokes at Monica's expense at being an overweight teenager come off as cruel.
** When Paolo crudely comes on to Phoebe at her job as a masseuse, the show treats Rachel as the one who is primarily wronged because Paolo tried to cheat on her with her friend, while glossing over the fact that Phoebe was sexually harassed by him. In the post Me Too era, this would be treated much more seriously.
** Ross's actions - particularly in the early seasons - are looked on far more critically than they would have been at the time. He claims to be a 'NiceGuy' but here's a rough list: accuses Rachel of cheating just because he's jealous of Mark; acts incredibly smothering and possessive and later lies about getting their marriage annulled. Any of these actions would be used to portray him as a {{Jerkass}} today rather than the DoggedNiceGuy he was presented as in the 90s.
** Chandler's boss playfully slapping his butt is played for laughs, with the other employees mentioning this demonstrates that Chandler is his favourite, and Chandler convincing his boss to slap other employees' butts to stop them feeling jealous. In today's society, in the wake of the #MeToo movement, it's less likely this sort of behaviour would be played for laughs, especially as Chandler is clearly uncomfortable with this.
** Chandler's father being played by a cis woman was actually considered an admirably daring piece of casting at the time, but is now looked on much more critically as awareness has grown about the plight of trans actors losing even roles fitting their identity to cis actors.[[note]]It's actually not quite clear if the character is supposed to be trans or a male drag queen, but it's still uncomfortable either way.[[/note]] Co-creator Marta Kauffman later [[https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/friends-marta-kauffman-creator-transgender-jokes-chandlers-dad-a8896611.html admitted]] that she regrets the character being written that way, as well as the ambiguity with which their identity was handled.
** With increased understanding of the terrors of stalking, it’s now quite off-putting to watch "The One With The Jam", where Phoebe is flattered when it appears she has one, and when it turns out the man is actually stalking her twin sister Ursula and followed her by mistake, she tries to convince him to switch to her.

A prevalant problem on the boards are [[MeToo fad topics]]. Sometimes, someone may see a certain topic and try to recreate it in a new topic with a spin on it.
However, the impact this would have on [=BoJack=] is never addressed, and despite the season's themes of men in Hollywoo abusing their power, Flip's toxic behavior is never treated as anything serious.

Her disgust at them is treated as laughable by the series and when they are revived she is shown enjoying them chasing her. Aside from the [[PaedoHunt obvious implications]], this sort of gag has aged badly in the wake of the #MeToo and #TimesUp Movement where women have confessed to dealing with some form of sexual harassment and assault from men, even as very young women and minors.
!!YMMV.{{Friends}}
* ValuesDissonance:
During the show’s 25th anniversary in 2019, [[CreatorBacklash this was named as the episode the crew most regretted]].

However, this stage is also where the [[{{Troll}} Trolls]] are weeded out, so the Mod will probably be keeping an eye on any newcomers for signs of trouble.
** ''Who's Here?'': Depending on the competence levels of the newbies (or the balance of acceptance vs. cynicism among the forum's regular members), they might find themselves branded a {{Noob}}. [[YesMan Yes Men]] and [[MeToo Me Toos]] usually don't get very far above Newbie level, since they never really say much to warrant "promotion." * The subject of man-on-woman violence is something of a CyclicTrope because of this.

A prevalant problem on the boards are [[MeToo fad topics]]. Sometimes, someone may see a certain topic and try to recreate it in a new topic with a spin on it.
However, the impact this would have on [=BoJack=] is never addressed, and despite the season's themes of men in Hollywoo abusing their power, Flip's toxic behavior is never treated as anything serious.

!!YMMV.{{Friends}}
* ValuesDissonance:
During the show’s 25th anniversary in 2019, [[CreatorBacklash this was named as the episode the crew most regretted]].

AOL's subscribers gained such a bad reputation for this after [[UsefulNotes/EternalSeptember getting access to Usenet]] in the middle 1990s that the use of AOL! or the [[FauxComputerCode pseudo-HTML]] markup <AOL!> is a widely known shorthand for Me Too.

"+1" is a modern Web-2.0ish variant; while it is sometimes a legitimate idiom for "I agree this is important", it is often used where it is not welcome.

One variant is a reply consisting solely of the auto-quoted text, trimmed to the agreed-with content in question. Some forums allow users to get away with this via RuleOfFunny, though it is still frowned upon by many. A common equivalent, usually used in IRC, is to reply with a caret ("^") as to represent an arrow pointing to the text they agree with.

One accepted use is in discussions where a consensus need to be established. In those cases a vote is all that's needed, and unless a new argument is presented, the text is just the same kind of filler.

A similar phenomenon is the poster who feels that [[UsefulNotes/FirstPost posting the first response in a new discussion is a triumphant achievement, and will often post for nothing but the sole purpose of being that first response]]. Often followed up with cries of "second", "third" or "fourth" from other like-minded people who were a little too slow on the draw. This also applies to sites whose message boards have a pre-set limit on posts in a topic. When the topic is about to reach the post count where it will close, many posters will interject with meaningless posts just to be the one to 'kill' the topic.

More recently, the meme '''#[=MeToo=]''' gained widespread use on social media to denounce sexual abuse, misconduct and harassment, particularly after several notable figures in entertainment, news media and political circles were accused of said behavior, often by people they had worked with and had come to trust them. The idea was that its users would use it to state that in some fashion they had also been victims, and not necessarily by famous people, and that they sometimes wished to remain anonymous with specific details. For details on the various figures accused of such actions, see RoleEndingMisdemeanor (even if it goes ''[[NonIndicativeName way]]'' [[NonIndicativeName beyond]] "[[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil Misdemeanor]]").
