** In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIII'', this trope is taken to an extreme, when discovered that ALL the PC's except Rinoa and Edea grew together at the same orphanage. The only reason why Edea is excluded was because she ran said orphanage. On top of that, numerous hints are dropped later on that the other star of the game, Laguna, is Squall's father.

** In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX'', TheDragon Kuja is a "brother" of sorts of the main character Zidane -- they were both artificially created by the same man.
** Fairly early in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'', Auron reveals to Tidus that ''Sin'' is really his father, Jecht, without any explanation for how the human Jecht became a giant SpaceWhale beyond "you know it to be true." The explanations don't come until much, much later. Why he expects him to ''believe'' this...

** Also, in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyII'', the Dark Knight in charge of much of Palamecia's military operations turns out to be Leon, the adoptive brother of Firion and Maria.

* Semi spoofed in ''LegendOfDragoon''. Two of the characters are related (it's not hard to guess which two by Disc 2. It's even lampshaded by the older party "There may be a secret connection between us!". Apparently seems to be a spoof in honor of the VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIII father/son thing.

* Tragically inverted in ''Jak3Wastelander'', where a fatally wounded Damas makes a final request for Jak to find his missing son. Jak realizes that Damas' son is his younger self, whom he sent back into the past in the previous game.

* Played straight in ''{{Jekyll}}'', with [[NightmareFuel an extra twist]] at the end of the final episode.

* In the 2007 adaptation of ''Film/{{Beowulf}}'' by NeilGaiman and Roger Avary, the Dragon reveals to Beowulf that he is actually the hero's long-lost son from his deal-with-the-devil dalliance with Grendel's Mother.

* Just recently in ''[[http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manga/Bleach?from=Main.Bleach Bleach]]'', the villain Juha Bach, a Quincy who seeks to destroy the shinigami society, reveals that Ichigo's long gone mother may be a Quincy, thus passing to Ichigo the reitsu Quincy are known to control.

This don't last (thank God) 'cause when Marco leaves the room and Amy follows. He then tells her there is no way for him to be her father because, though he loved Yuu, they had never been "this close" and he just didn't say anything so they could have time to find out who was Amy's father. Then we get the reveal of who the said father is... Cannish. The (honestly badass) irish wolf. Now, remember he attacked Marco and Amy with Bloter? Remember how he killed Jill's friend (a journalist who befriends Amy and Marco and tags along with them) and several other people? Remember he also devoured Amy's grandfather who she never met? So, yeah, she is less than pleased about this.
** But during the first book (yeah, this all happens in the first book) after realizing that Amy IS his daughter (he just realized it during the dinner when Wulfmayer told the others he had raped Yuu at an old park where she had been actually waiting for Cannish to appear and after the said rape, to protect Cannish -who was going to leave the pack and run away with her-, she told him she didn't want to see him anymore, so he didn't know Amy was his) Cannish changes sides to help Marco and the group and we find he is actually a cool guy.

* In the brazilian book Lobo Alpha (Alpha Wolf) the main character (Amy) finds out about Creatures (beings that can change shape into animals) and befriends (soon falling in love) with Marco, a Wolf Creature (white wolf to be precise) who is the Omega of his pack. Then Amy finds out that she is adopted and that she, too, is a Creature after being killed -only turns out she wasn't- by Bloter (another wolf Creature) while Marco was fighting Cannish (yes, another wolf Creature and just so you know, those two had devoured her grandfather and, later, the friend of a jornalist who befriends Amy and Marco and tags along with them)
Amy is a Crossbred (meaning that one of her TRUE parents was a creature and the other was a human, though this breeding is rare, she meets another Crossbred near the end of the book). She learns about her true mother, Yuu.
At first everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE) thinks that Amy is the daughter of Wulfmayer (the Alpha wolf and who had been in love with Yuu despite being married) until, during a diner with the said pack, he reveals that he raped Yuu (along with Bloter) but didn't kill her because he felt she was pregnant and that Amy is actually Marco's daughter (cuts to "eeeewww" since they were in love and had already had sex).

* Philip gets this ''twice''. First, he discovers that his name is Raito Sonozaki, meaning that he's related to the [[TheFamilyThatSlaysTogether Sonozaki family]] that runs the organization they've been fighting. Wakana is his sister and [[BigBad Ryubee]] is his father. Then later he and his newfound siblings find out that the mysterious Shroud is their mother.
** Which leads to a really bizarre scene in a late season episode where Ryubee gathers them all together for [[NoMrBondIExpectYouToDine a nice family dinner]], despite the fact that Saeko turned traitor on him, Shroud ran away and began being TheChessmaster to attempt to topple him, and he's going to effectively kill Philip in order to cause the Gaia Impact. Needless to say, it's a tense meal.

* In ''{{Bayonetta}}'', Father Balder reveals that he is the titular character's father towards the end of the game.

* In ''PrincessTutu'', Rue's father is revealed to be [[BigBad the Raven]] in the second season. That's not so surprising considering she's the DarkMagicalGirl...but it's later revealed that he actually kidnapped her as a child, and she's just a normal human girl after all. It's also later revealed that Drosselmeyer is Fakir's great-great-grandfather, and Fakir inherited his [[RealityWarper powers]].

* ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'': In "The Avatar and the Firelord", it is revealed that Avatar Roku, Aang's spiritual predecessor, was the great-grandfather of Prince Zuko on his mother's side, making Aang Zuko's great-grandfather in spirit, if not in body. Did we mention that Mark Hamill voices ''Zuko's'' father? Cue run-in-the-family memes.
