* While many Zenoiran vassals in ''VideoGame/UnicornOverlord'' are usually greedy, ambitious, wicked, or brainwashed, Lord Gaston stands out for being outright insane. Thanks to a childhood plagued with starvation and a violent military career, he is obsessed with making sure that those in his fiefdom never go hungry, which would be a benign goal if that wasn't his only concern. Almost the entirety of his province's labor is devoted to making sure the communal larder never goes empty and everyone has regular rations, but this has caused the rest of its infrastructure to wither. Gaston responds to any concerns about his policies with threats of violence if not the act itself or accusations that the critic is actively trying to starve the citizenry. While no one under him can bring themselves to denounce him as outright evil, his reign is so exhausting and stressful that not only do a fistful of his knights defect to the Liberation Army the first chance they get but the people who understood why he did what he did aren't too sorry to see Gaston go when Alain dispatches him.

* In ''Literature/TheLostFleet'' the degredation of military training during the ForeverWar means that most officers were promoted based on a mix of political ability and percieved agressiveness which leads to a number of admirals having questionable abilities. In particular Admiral Otropa and a number of other admirals supported the creation of the Dark Ships, a fleet of AI controlled ships which [[AIIsACrapshoot went rogue]] and starting attacking friendly systems.

* ''Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico'': Admiral Sadaki Munetake is a very self-centered, egotistical person who cares nothing about the lives of the people below him. To gain favor with the United Earth Forces, he betrayed the Nadesico and tried to hand the ship over to the United Earth Forces, and when that failed, he escaped. Unfortunately, he was spotted by Gai Daigouji during his escape, and immediately shot him, getting the murder filed as "self-defense". Once the Nadesico returned from Mars and agreed to work with the UEF, Munetake was assigned to the Nadesico, and eventually was cornered by Akito about Gai's murder. Munetake tried to defend himself, but the guilt was secretly eating him up inside, until he finally snapped [[spoiler:and was killed when he hijacked an experimental aestivalis and overloaded its rail cannon, while trying to attackan ally ship thinking it was of Jovian origin]].
