* Manga/SpyXFamily has an unintentional example: Yor was PromotedToParent for her little brother Yuri after the death of their parents and she genuinely loved him and did all she could to give him a good life (this is how she started her work as a ProfesionalKiller) and Yuri sees his childhood as a happy time. However, a mix of LethalChef and DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength caused the boy to have to grow up with horrible food that makes most people throw up or pass out (he genuinely loves eating her food, even if it causes him to puke and bleed) and suffering from bruises or broken bones when she would give him a "light" slap in embarassment or would hug him a bit too tight.

* Fanfic/OniGaShikuSeries: The main plot of the fic is Goro Majima aka the Mad Dog of Shimano putting four-year-old Izuku through TrainingFromHell so he can become a Hero. Needless to say, neither Majima nor any of Majima's acquaintances havve any real idea of what a normal training routine is, so poor little Izuku is subjected to thinks like being forced to learn how to dance on and off rollerskates, being chased around by Majima who's screeching like a banshee, and being shot with rubber bullets by several different people to learn how to dodge them. The only adult in the group who acknowledges that there's something wrong with the whole situation is Kiryu, who instantly justifies it by saying that it's pressure that makes diamonds. For example, in the Christmas episode he reveals that Christmas presents from his dad were always tubes of wrapping paper, so he could use them to wrap up presents for Willy. Aversions are not notable for this trope, plus I recall Heavy's backstory being played dead serious.

** The Heavy's father was a counter-revolutionary who was executed and left the young Heavy, his mother, and his sisters all to be sent to a Siberian Gulag. Four months later The Heavy had broken his family out, destroyed the facility, and tortured every single guard and soldier inside to death. Unlike other examples, his actual family, barring from their dislike of bear meat, loves him dearly and aside from seeing his gun as a real-life person, the Heavy isn't as mentally damaged as the others.
** Also averted with The Engineer, whose father was the team Engineer in the original Team Fortress. Hints are dropped they were very close.

** Giuseppe Grecco and his family were constantly verbally abused by previous generations to hammer home the importance of sticking tradition and always baking the exact same thing with the same, incredibly laborious methods. They spat on his great-grandmother for suggesting they take advantage of advancements in cooking. With Guiseppe as the last Grecco the cycle will end, which he takes some comfort in, but he's still trapped by family obligation and the furious reactions of his customers if he makes any kind of innovation.

They are often portrayed as beating their children, pushing them to ludicrous extremes, denying them any joy, and being very keen on gender conformity, among other such behaviour. Most of the time, this isn't too far from the actual character.
