* ''Series/WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire'', ''Series/{{Greed}}'', and countless others in the "[[WhoWantsToBeWhoWantsToBeAMillionaire big-money game show craze]]" that awarded a (multi-) million dollar payout. Averted in Series/OneVersusAHundred.

* ''[[Series/TreasureHuntUS (The New) Treasure Hunt]]'', one of the [[UrExample earliest examples]] of its use on a game show. Originally just dropped confetti and balloons after a $25,000 win; in later 1970's episodes the contestant was further assaulted with roses by the show's models.
* This was [[UpToEleven carried out to such an extreme]] on Jim Lange's version of ''Series/NameThatTune'' that the viewer could not see half of what was going on onstage, and some contestants had trouble wading through the balloons to get to the car they had won.

* Normally in the WWE, they tend to do it with pyrotechnics after a big match win such as the Wrestling/RoyalRumble, an Undertaker Streak win or Wrestling/WrestleMania main event. Since 2017, WWE have stopped using Pyro on weekly shows and PPVs, and now only issue it for WrestleMania (The only acceptation so far with this new rule in play was the Greatest Royal Rumble)
