* Music/LilB, who proclaims himself as The [=BasedGod=]. He has claimed to be, among many other things, MileyCyrus, UsefulNotes/BillClinton, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fl6Mf4yTm7A a fag, a lesbian]], and ''God's Father''. He also produced [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XWazciew_ew#! a track for his adopted cat [=KeKe=]]] (calling it history, "FIRST ANIMAL IN HIP HOP"). More of this oddity can be seen especially on his twitter (and [[ArchivePanic 10,000+ tracks]]).

Another notable mark is that often there is nothing actually ''wrong'' with what they do, but it is most assuredly not something a normal person would do. Sit down with a Cloudcuckoolander and try to explain to them that normal people don't wear the clothes of a dead man. They will ''never'' understand what your problem is. It's not like the dead guy cares, is it?

it? Likewise they would fail to understand the reason for wearing shoes in a public place (it's warm and cosy, so [[BarefootLoon why not go barefoot?]]) or using the preposition "I" when referring to yourself (you use other people's names when speaking about them, so [[ThirdPersonPerson why not use your own name when you speak about yourself]]?)

* Thom Yorke. He admits in the radiohead song "Like spinning plates" that "I'm Living in cloudcuckooland", which was apparently a reference to some Greek play where the birds built a city called cloudcuckooland as a refuge from the humans. Still, the quote holds true in this context as well.

They often come off as naive, innocent and SarcasmBlind, so when they suddenly [[{{Cuckoosnarker}} come up with snarky quips and witticisms]], it may be one of the first indications that they are much more insightful than they seem to be.

Cloudcuckoolanders are very rarely malicious. They are far more likely to be PluckyComicRelief. Maybe he's one of ThoseTwoGuys or the crazy member of the ComicTrio. They [[{{Cloudcuckoolanguage}} lapse into non sequitur]] [[TalkativeLoon a lot]], and while they aren't totally insane, they act it much more than some other crazier characters.

** For that matter, ''Theatre/{{Hamlet}}'' himself is frequently considered to only be pretending at insanity; that he is "not in madness/ but mad in craft", i.e. not insane, but angry.

* Rosencrantz from ''RosencrantzAndGuildensternAreDead'' is an excellent example, though he's also more canny than he lets on. Probably. (Guildenstern also has his moments.)

** [[AMidsummerNightsDream Nick Bottom]] starts out by expressing his desire to [[TalkingToHimself play all the characters in the same play.]] Later, when fairies show up out of nowhere and begin waiting on him, he hardly seems surprised.
* Much of Music/{{Blue Man Group}}'s unique comedy revolves around the fact that the Blue Men are apparently not of this world, and frequently express amazement and surprise over such things as cell phones, watches, and eating Twinkies with utensils.
