The best friend (also commonly referred as "the bro", "the bestie", etc.) is TheProtagonist's closest non-romantic associate and confidante in the story. Very often, the two of them will be {{Foil}}s to each other, and the best friend's importance to the plot ranges from a SatelliteCharacter always in the background to the {{Deuteragonist}}.
