* Played with in ''TowerOfGod'': During the Bath mini-arc one can see that Hon Arkraptor and Kim Lurker's races have nipples for both genders, while Ja Wangnan, whose horns betry him as a Non-Human, does not.

** Strangely enough, both versions sort of avert it in regards to crotches too. Genitalia are never actually drawn, but swimsuit/PantyShot panels of female characters will sometimes have [[http://www.mangafox.com/manga/to_love_ru/v02/c013/14.html rather pronounced outlines]] (NSFW).

** The manga's SpinOff[=/=]continuation ''To Love-Ru Darkness'', averts it even in the serialized version, as they moved to a magazine (Weekly Shonen Jump-> Jump SQ) with an older demographic.

* ''MoralOrel'' does this. They didn't give any extra details to the clay models, even for nude scenes.

* In director KevinSmith's fantasy/comedy ''{{Dogma}}'', the archangel Metatron, seeking to reassure a mortal female that his intentions are purely honorable, explains to her that he is "as anatomically impaired as a Ken doll" and then drops his pants to prove it.

* In ''{{Manga/Bleach}}'', there was a scene where Ichigo was naked, and there were no nipples or genitals.
** Ichigo wasn't naked, he was dreaming. He then wakes up and he's fully clothed.
** Rangiku Matsumoto has no nipples, nor does Yoruichi.
*** Male characters generally don't have nipples but they tend to randomly develop them for close-ups.

* Many specimens in ''KillingFloor'' are [[{{Squick}} naked]]. Thankfully they are also completely neutered (a title screen picture even reveals stitches near their crotch).

In non-[[{{Hentai}} pornographic]] anime, TV shows and movies aimed at younger audiences, characters in a state of undress will usually lack ... ''certain'' anatomical features.

** Partially averted in the HotSpringsEpisode of the MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaVivid manga. adult girls are drawn with visible nipples and areolae, while the breasts of the lolis are featureless.

** For some bizarre reason, the second anime avoids this with one exception: Mikan and Yami lack nipples. Even though the even more loli-looking Nana and Momo have them. Makes no sense.

Some artists draw an object covering a part of the breast, and assume you will assume that is where the nipple is. As you [[http://www.mangafox.com/manga/mahou_sensei_negima/v01/c003/16.html can see]], this doesn't always look realistic.

* ''{{Babylon 5}}: Crusade'' has an episode (nr. 6) starting with Gideon watching some topless nude women kissing. The women have "Digitally Enhanced" breasts, that is, digitally removed nipples. Breasts with nipples are too shocking, apparently.

If a female is shown naked from the front, {{nipple|AndDimed}}s may or may not be drawn. Variations include complete absence, nipples absent but areola shown, nipples drawn but areola lacking, and both nipples and areola being drawn. The crotch will almost always be completely featureless, with not even a dark patch to represent pubic hair. This is a consequence of a 1907 Japanese censorship law ("Article 175") which was interpreted to forbid the depiction of pubic hair as well as genitals. Morality-wise, you could argue that the result was [[{{Lolicon}} a spectacular backfire]]. And it allowed the common workaround of drawing "[[FormFittingWardrobe clothing]]" [[FormFittingWardrobe so thin and skin-hugging]] that it displays nipples and labia in prominent relief, making characters more naked when they're clothed than when they're unclothed.

* This shows up for a panel or two in ''{{Remus}}'', but the nudity is not played for eroticism and is surrounded by a fair amount of FetishRetardant - specifically, the character in question is being dangled naked from a ceiling as part of a ColdBloodedTorture session. [[{{Dystopia}} It's very much not]] ''that'' kind of comic.

** Whilst we’re on the subject of Tim Roth's audio commentary, the absence of visible external genitalia only gets a passing mention. When compared to Roth's complaints towards Abomination's anatomy and the lack thereof, with regard to the [[spoiler:ears]]. Whether this is a true subversion or Roth had his tongue firmly in his cheek -- answers on a postcard, please...

* ''Manga/DanceInTheVampireBund'' varies as to the degree of AnimeAnatomy displayed, sometimes within a given chapter. [[ElegantGothicLolita Princess Mina's]] [[spoiler: normal form]] sometimes has full nipples and areola, sometimes dark shaded areola without nipples, and sometimes full blank chest.

** It may be AnimeAnatomy because that is a virtual projection of her, as shown in the last two episodes of the first season.

** Surprisingly common in sexually explicit Boys' Love manga and anime, to the point that "glowing cones of light" has become a running joke in the Western BL fandom. In ''Love Mode'', it's possible to pinpoint the exact moment when the censorship law was relaxed, as the sex scenes shift from AnimeAnatomy to... definitely and distinctly ''not''. It's actually kind of jarring.

** That said, AnimeAnatomy is ''averted'' in the German ''Sims'' knockoff ''[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singles:_Flirt_Up_Your_Life Singles: Flirt Up Your Life]]'' which features anatomically correct characters and less stylized (if [[IKEAErotica disturbingly clinical]] sexual intercourse). Marketed as a relationship simulator[[hottip:*:Anatomy and sexual functionality aside, the ''Singles'' are far more prudish and slow to warm than ''Sims'' ever are in any of the Maxis releases. ''Singles'' even take showers clad in undies]], ''Singles'' was sold in a Rated-M version with a poorly implemented pixelation blur which practically demanded a user fix. The European release (available online) was Rated-AO[[hottip:*:for Adults Only, as in unavailable at any reputable brick and mortar game store]] in the US.

* Sydney from ''VagrantStory'' ''seems'' to be a victim of AnimeAnatomy... until you consider the possibility that he may have sacrificed his genitals along with his arms.

* Also present in ''{{Xenogears}}''.

* The boys of ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'' are usually rendered without genitals. The exception is Cartman, whose more closely resembles a tail.
** OsamaBinLaden subverts this; he doesn't have genitals at first, but after about 30 magnifying glasses, we can see a really small, [[DidNotDoTheResearch uncircumcised]] penis.

* One scene of ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' contains a frontal shot of a naked Stewie Griffin, with no male genitalia in sight. Promptly lampshaded when he looks down and doesn't see said genitals, causing him to think he's a woman. (That was because of [[{{Seinfeld}} Shrinkage]].)
** ''Family Guy'' enjoys playing with nudity tropes in general. Note that Brian has been the butt of several penis jokes, despite his own lack of human anatomy. Brian claims it gets pulled inside when he stands up.
*** TruthInTelevision, dogs have a sort of retractable penis that normally rests inside a sheath.
** Peter gets away with it because his large gut supposedly covers up everything. They lampshaded this in the episode where Peter gets liposuction. He steps out of the shower, looks down, and says, "I see you!"
*** And lampshaded again with the nude TOY based on him. If you look underneath you'll find that his genitalia has been replaced with... a winking smiley face carved in!

*** Neither does Chris in the few times we see him naked, which is surprising since they made such a [[IncrediblyLamePun big]] deal about it.

** There's the episode "Deep Throats", where Lois and Peter get high on pot, strip, and eventually end up naked on the couch. At the POV seen, Lois' *ahem* ''vulva'', should be visible, but it's not.
** Averted hard in one ManateeGag with BritneySpears' famous crotch-shot paparazzi snap recreated, only with Peter in her place, and everything on display.
* ''MoralOrel'' does this, which is understandable because they just didn't give any extra details to the clay models.

* In the first episode of ''{{Thundercats}}'', the Thundercats are all naked, and they have no genitals or nipples... or even butt clefts.
** And yet they all apparently have [[http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/8415/thundercatsdirectorp.jpg visible panty-lines]]. Weird.

* Averted with Jamba!'s ringtone mascot "Crazy Frog", a.k.a. "The Annoying Thing". The blue frog creature sports ambiguous but noticeable genitalia that caused some controversy when he began appearing in late night ringtone ads. When he first began appearing in music videos in the United Kingdom, a prominent black bar was used to censor his groin area.
** The irony of this? With the exception of the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tailed_frog tailed frog]], [[YouFailBiologyForever amphibians don't even have external genitals]], so the mascot wasn't even anatomically correct.

* This trope occasionally happens, of all places, in illustrated porn as well. Porn written for males tend to avoid showing the penis, so quite a few hentai comics will show the woman's vagina being stretched by an invisible penis.
** Also, because of censorship laws, pubic hair was once not allowed to be shown--the laws have since changed, but showing the actual delicate bits are still forbidden. Of course, artists usually opt for the smallest black or white bar that would pass muster, and in the case of white bars this can result in the area down there to look like it's glowing.

* ''{{Anime/Naruto}}'''s title character has no nipples, and neither do any of the female characters (in any rare instances of fanservice).
