Oddly enough, he showed some insight [[BornLucky occasionally]], once picking up a rumor about the atomic bomb.

* [[TheRival Katana]] from GadGuard wears a longcoat in contrast to the majority of the show's other main characters, who tend to prefer [[ScarfOfAsskicking scarves]] (at least, when riding their HumongousMecha)

** Masquerade, TheRival from the first season wears a long white tench coat obviously in contrast to Dan's NiceJacket and Alice's coat thing, so Alice counts too with her yellow coat.

* In a chilling example, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, the two teenagers who carried out the [[{{Columbine}} Columbine High School massacre]] were obsessed with leather trench coats, and there exists video that they made for a school project featuring the two in trench coats as well. Almost immediately after the shootings occurred, MoralGuardians were quick to point out that films featuring gun-toting, trenchocat-clad protagonists were to blame, specifically ''The Matrix'' (which was still running in theaters at the time) and ''The Basketball Diaries'', which featured a dream sequence in which the lead character bursts into his school to mow down bullies with a shotgun and other weapons, all while wearing a trenchcoat and sunglasses. The coats seemed to hold a symbolic significance for Harris and Klebold.
