* Gecko Moria from OnePiece. Well it's no secret that One Piece has a lot of Gonks and generally strange-looking people. But he seems too weird for even these. He is the tallest non-giant seen in the series, he has pure white skin, very sharp teeth, pointed ears and horns and genereally looks like some [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot monster clown devil]]. Not really traits you connect with your average guy. The general fan consensus is that he's a human until WordOfGod states otherwise, though.

* In ''TheEdgeChronicles'' there are various fantastic races (there are ''no'' Earth animals or plants whatsoever) but all of the protagonists are human-ish (they have pointy ears) and aren't given a race name. In around the tenth book, one of them is named as a 'fourthling' and described as pretty much what you get if you add up all of the other races and take an average.

Every now and again, though, while exploring the FantasyKitchenSink, you'll run into a character of indeterminable race or species. Sure, they ''seem'' human, what with their upright stance, human-level intelligence, and ability to speak, and yet there's just something about them that gives them away as something distinctly ''other''. Maybe it's that they live in a series where no human can do the things they do, maybe it's that a certain part of their body (or even most of it) is kept conspiciously concealed, or maybe it's that there just plain aren't ''any'' "other" humans around, raising suspicions. This person is AmbiguouslyHuman. Fairly often, a series will go out of its way to avoid stating their out-and-out species, or they'll be called human or nonhuman in spite of their shared traits. If you can't figure out whether they spawned from the same end of the gene pool as you just by looking at them, though, they fit the bill.

*** That was only implied in KnightsOfTheOldRepublic, it was never outright said. They do occasionally adopt human children and raise them as their own.

** It's fairly well established that Betelgeusians look basically human (give or take the odd head or arm); after all, both Ford and Zaphod got by on Earth without any problems. The bit about the Bartledanians comes after Arthur has found himself in a part of the galaxy where the people are ''very'' nonhumanoid, and the fact this is worthy of note ''may'' indicate that up till now, he's mostly dealt with humanoid aliens.
*** But Zaphod's second head and third arm are not natural, they're biomechanical implants. He had his third arm fitted, supposedly to improve his ski-boxing skills, but actually so he could fondle all three of Eccentrica Gallumbits's breasts at once. His second head came about during his mysterious self-experimentation, an unspecified amount of time previous to the first book. Eventually, it acquires a mind of its own and becomes an independent being, Left Brain. But of course, as far as this topic is concerned, all this does is confirm that Betelgeusians are normally humanoid.
**** In the radio version, Zaphod has four arms, and only the last is noted as recent. While the third may be artificial, he did have it as far back as when he was in school with Ford.

** Isn't he just a human warped by the choas emeralds?
** Probably, but you can't tell all that just by looking at him.
** There ''were'' humans. For example the witch from one of the Game Gear games and the humans in the "Sonic Jam" OVA. Humans were just never really seen until Adventure which made the "Outside of Japan" teams make up all sorts of stories.

** Mario & Luigi are from the Mushroom Kingdom in universal canon though.
*** You forget who [[FanDumb you're talking to]].

** Weren't the Sheikah just a sort of Royal Hylian Ninja Secret Service?
** Emphasis on the "ninja"; they're described as a culture distinct from the Hylians with heavy "secret ninja clan" overtones. There's no firm indication that they were a separate ''species'', though. Nor, indeed, that ''any'' of the AmbiguouslyHuman races of Hyrule are anything more than ethnic groups. (Except maybe the Gerudo.)

** That last one is a mutant, you mind.

** Probably a vampire or some type of wraith or ghoul...
