* InsufferableImbecile: The fourth prince, [[TheEvilPrince Seytil,]] is great with a sword but has ''nothing else'' of quality. He is naturally in last place in the race for the throne, and even [[HeroicBastard Raymond]] outshines him several times. [[spoiler: He's ''so'' moronic, he underestimates [[UnskilledButStrong Raymond]] and gets taken out in one shot during the Fondation Festival Banquet, and instead of learning his lesson, he provokes Raymond in a duel ''again'' and [[KarmicButtMonkey gets taken out the exact same way.]]]]

[[spoiler: The royal advisor lampshades that if only he was legitimate, he would've been the best choice as crown prince. This grows so out of proportion that the other princes notice, and Oden has to decide what to do with Raymond, as a hypercompetent bastard would [[SuccessionCrisis sow discord within the court and kingdom even more than it already is.]] Unexpectedly, Oden decides to leave Raymond be for now, implied to be [[ParentAsPeople torn between performing his duties as a King and his newly discovered feelings of care for his son.]]]]

Fearing an epidemic, the healers and higher ups consider [[KillItWithFire quaranting and burning the soldiers to nip it in the bud.]] Raymond intervenes, and discovers this isn't a contagious disease but contact dermatitis, a skin disease that develops when the skin comes in contact with toxic agents. When checking the sick soldier's armor in search of a cause, he found out that they wore an armor of lower quality than required, and the lower quality metal caused the rashes. Upon investigating the Count in charge of furnishing the armors, a huge case of corrpution and embezzlement was discovered involving several aristocrats. This discovery was credited to Raymond, which tremendously boosted his reputation among the military.]]

* ParentsAsPeople: King Oden is an amazing king, but [[ParentalNeglect not a good father.]] He's aware of this, and does not pretend otherwise. [[spoiler: Having killed his own siblings for the throne, he became TheStoic and discarded his personal feelings, as they are a hindrance to his role as a ruler. The single time he let his feelings out, was to find and save a young Raymond, but after that: nothing. [[YoureNotMyFather Raymond sees him as nothing but a stranger,]] but his recent deeds let Oden rediscover his now adult son, and [[NotSoStoic he finds himself visiting Raymond's clinic]] [[KingIncognito incognito.]]]]

* DeterminedDoctor: Probably Raymond's greatest trait as a healer. ''Doctor Player'' or ''Dr. Player'' is a korean webnovel by Yuin (유인) that debuted in 2019, and is currently being adapted in webcomic form by Copin Comics.
Raymond is a healer whose healing power is pathetic, and is the [[HeroicBastard illegitimate child of the noblest person.]] Viewed as worthless and a stain by all those around him, he lives at the bottom of the healer ladder. Until a miracle happens, a [[GameSystem window appears:]] [You awakened as a player!] [Occupation: Surgeon] And he recieves knowledge of modern medicine.
With this miracle, is the beggining of his legend. Raymond seeks to become the best healer of the Laipentaina continent, save patients, and [[{{Greed}} make bank.]]
----
!!This series provides examples of:
* FirstEpisodeTwist: You learn very quickly that Raymond isn't the son of any noble, but the ''King,'' ence his nickname "Shadow Prince".
* {{Greed}}: ''Raymond wants money.'' At the end of the day, it is his main motivation, but he won't hesitate to help others along the way, and he will not extort money out of those who clearly cannot afford it. He wants money for the fame and luxuries, which would make his life comfortable, [[DarkAndTroubledPast having been denied that comfort in the past.]]
* HeroicBastard: Raymond is the illegitimate son of King Oden, and has been dubbed "Shadow Prince" for it. Oden is seen as the [[RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething perfect ruler, beloved, charismatic, intelligent...]] And so, his illegitimate child is the only stain on his perfect record as a ruler. Raymond has been ignored and despised by everyone around him for being the one flaw of their King.
* HospitalHottie: Patients, from [[ChickMagnet women]] to [[EvenTheGuysWantHim men,]] have complimented Raymond's good looks, and many have said they've rarely met a healer as [[BeautyEqualsGoodness kind and handsome he is.]]
* InformedFlaw: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted!]] Everyone tells Raymond that he's ugly and unsightly, but in truth, he's [[BeautifulAllAlong tall]] and [[PrettyBoy handsome,]] and [[HeCleansUpNicely in the right clothes]] makes everyone swoon. He's aware of this, and he's not above weaponizing it to help his reputation.
* OnlyOneName: Commoners only have a single name, even [[HeroicBastard Raymond.]] [[spoiler: Until he becomes a Baronet that is. He decides to go by Raymond Penin, using the name of his late mother as his family name.]]
* ParentalNeglect: Raymond has heard the voice of his father ''once.'' Then, Raymond was mistreated and abused while the King did nothing to stop it. Naturally, Raymond hates him for it. [[spoiler: Oden believes that [[TheStoic his personal feelings are unimportant as a king.]] Even when he wanted to to take care of his illegimate child, he knows the consequences it would have on his image, and so did nothing. Now that Raymond is contributing to the kingdom, he is paying more attention to him, so may be hope for their relationship.]]
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: The entire royal family does... but the effectiveness of it depends. King Oden is talented and loved by his citizens, but the princes are all fighting on different fronts for the crown, more concerned for their rights to succession than their subjects. Meanwhile, Raymond is illegitimate, but is actively curing illnesses, healing patients, and bettering people's lives. [[spoiler: This is noticed by Oden, whom starts paying attention to his actions and rewards him for his deeds towards the kingdom, even eventually [[{{Knighting}} giving him the title of Baronet.]]]]
* SuccessionCrisis: The princes' are in a [[SiblingRivalry constant battle]] for fame glory to be chosen as the next king after the very first prince has passed away. Raymond wants nothing to do with it, and [[HeroicBastard he has no right to it anyway,]] so he steers clear of the drama. [[spoiler: But when [[{{Irony}} he starts contributing more than the other princes ever did by helping patients and the suburbs,]] his siblings starts worrying he may become a HiddenBackupPrince.]]
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: Played with. The only thing transported to the fantasy world is the knowledge of modern medicine itself. Raymond himself is aware all he knows is from a world called "Earth", and its history with diseases is referenced multiple times.
