* CollectiveDeathGlare: The FFF is the collective group of HollywoodDateless [[MalevolentMaskedMan Malevolent Masked Men]] from Class F who will don black hoods and perform an inquisition on any boy who so much as is ''even shown kindness'' by a girl. The moment they find that a boy has received any form of social interaction with a female student, they don the hoods and glare at them before going in for the kill.

* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish: Almost all of the English sentences that appear in the series make complete sense and have excellent grammar.

** In the OVA when Hazuki asks where Class F is, [[Literature/BookGirl Touko Amano]] and [[LightNovel/{{Oreimo}} Kuroneko]] are seen walking in the background while [[LightNovel/KyouranKazokuNikki Kyoukya Eaeriaea]] also sees Hazuki.

* TheThingThatGoesDoink: The hotel in the training camp arc of Season 2 is apparently pretty expensive, because a Shishi Odoshi is shown in the last episode.

* GradeSystemSnark: Whoever came up with the entrance exam was either really discriminatory, really [[DeadpanSnarker snarky]], or some combination of both: Whoever aced the exams was placed in Class A and got the most luxurious classrooms and treated with the utmost respect. Whosoever failed the exam immediately was placed in F Class. Those who got placed in ''this'' class were treated like pariahs and given classrooms that were literally falling apart at the seams, even down to the cardboard boxes they used as desks and the third-rate pillows (the stuffing was quite clearly spilling out of the seams). Even the ''teachers'' of Class F realized the terrible situation, copping a very bored, sarcastic tone of voice.

* BigDamnHeroes: Mizuki comes to save the day, complete with [[GameBreaker ridiculously overpowered stats]].

** Subverted with Yuuji. He is a good strategist, whether or not he himself may screw it up. He gets better after [[ChainsOfLove that event with Shouko]], in which he boosted his grades up fit for a Class B student.
*** The explanation [[spoiler: of how he went from being a child genius in 5th grade to the idiot that he is now]] is never covered though.

* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Akihisa is totally oblivious to Mizuki and Minami's affections for him. This is exemplified in the Season 1 finale where [[spoiler:Mizuki deliberately fails her second placement test because she doesn't want to leave him behind by not having her name on it. Akihisa, not knowing she did it on purpose (even though the name on the test had clearly been written and erased, not forgotten), chews out the principal.]]

* CripplingOverspecialization: Class A (and Himeji) has this. Since they [[GeekPhysique rarely do physical labor, they lack strength and stamina]] which is vital during wars. If they continue fighting for extended periods of time, they'll eventually start to tire out and start losing control over their summons. Which is what happened during their fight with Class F, after fighting a gauntlet against Class B to Class E.

* DesignStudentsOrgasm: ''Goodness'', look at that page picture. ** She also does it in Episode 6 after [[ACupAngst seeing Mizuki in her bikini]]. Her little sister says that Minami sometimes does that when she's in shock.

** ForeignLanguageTirade: Minami loses the ability to speak Japanese and starts blubbering in German and will take a while for her to snap out of it when she is sufficiently shocked.

* MarshmallowHell: Akihisa does this to Himeji during the OVA battle as a means to distract her and Minami to buy Yuuji enough time to knock them both out. It works, as both girls are then distracted by him and while attempting to pull him away, Yuuji delivers an attack which knocks out all three characters.

* ObliviousToLove: No, Akihisa. Mizuki ''doesn't'' like Yuuji, and Minami ''doesn't'' beat you up [[{{Tsundere}} for no reason at all]].

* PaperThinDisguise: Akihisa, Mizuki, Minami, Kouta, and Hideyoshi try to do so during the visit to Kisaragi Theme Park, but Yuuji was able to quickly figure out their true identities at first sight. For example, he tricked Mizuki (in a yellow fox costume with her hair spilling out) into thinking that Akihisa (in a blue fox costume with the head backwards) was seeing an older woman, causing the guy to get dropkicked by Minami (in an orange fox suit) when the rumor reached her ears.

** In Episode 6, Aiko mentions in the bath house that the men and women's sides are connected, and that the men could probably peek at the women underwater. Both Akihisa and Kouta immediately dive in, but the water's too hot, so they douse themselves with cold water...only to find out it doesn't help. Instead of just admitting defeat, Akihisa instead pulls his avatar out to try and peek that way, which still doesn't work.
*** ...at which point he runs out of hitpoints, and a [[NakedPeopleAreFunny very naked Nishimura-sensei]] [[RunningGag jumps out of the water]] and drags him off to remedial lessons.

* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: Yuji claims this with Shouko. She refuses to believe it however, and often forces him on dates anyway.

''Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts'' (''Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu'', literally "Idiots, Tests and Summoned Beasts") is a series of LightNovels written by Kenji Inoue and illustrated by Yui Haga, which was published from 2007 to 2015; the main story ran for a total of 12 volumes, with six volumes of side stories. An anime adaptation first aired in the winter of 2010. While it's not animated by Creator/StudioShaft, it ''is'' directed by Shin Ohnuma as part of Creator/SilverLink, and many Shaft-isms are prevalent in the series. The first season is 13 episodes and finished airing on March 31, 2010 with a second season following suit in [[Main/Summer2011Anime Summer 2011]]. There are also two manga adaptations.

** Nishimura-sensei looks quite like [[VideoGame/MetalGearSolid Solid Snake and/or Big Boss]], and also shares the [[Creator/AkioOhtsuka same voice actor as them]]. At one point he hides under a cardboard box.

* AndTheAdventureContinues [[spoiler:The final chapter of the light novels show us what happens as the characters begin their third year at Fumizuki Academy. Their lives seem mostly unchanged, aside from Yuuji now being part of Class A, as he no longer has to prove his genius, having already confessed to Shouko. However, wanting his freedom for a little longer (and probably fearing the FFF), he forms a disciplinary committee with Kubo as his right-hand man to enforce the rule of "no relationships" in order to stay single until he graduates. Meanwhile, Akihisa becomes the symbol of the resistance movement, fighting for the students rights to date each other, wanting to finally be able to officially become a couple with Himeji. The story ends with the two of them engaging in a over-the-top duel while their friends cheer them on.]]
