* Averted in ''VideoGame/{{Doom}}'' and ''VideoGame/DoomII'', due to the sheer number of enemies especially in some third-party levels which can have ''hundreds'' of demons. Often the only viable strategy is to take advantage of enemy fratricide by rushing in, stirring up as many demons as possible, and then either finding a place to hide or being incredibly good at dodging while a huge demon-on-demon melee commences.

** ''VideoGame/CallOfDuty2'' has an interesting variation where the player does this out of ''necessity.'' There are two missions where the player pilots a Crusader, a British light tank used in the Africa Campaign known for its short range and minimal armor. The German tanks were technically superior, and the sandy terrain of the desert made it near-impossible for the British to fight at long range. So really, their only choice was to charge straight into the enemy and use their Crusaders' high speed to their advantage. You see this firsthand when it leads to many of your allies being destroyed.
** In ''VideoGame/CallOfDutyBlackOps Zombies'', this is a major problem, especially with pickup games. Even though this mode of the game is essentially a survival shooter, and doesn't require the most strategy, planning, foresight, and timing are beneficial to the mission, as opening the wrong door at the wrong time, failing to hold a position, or simply not being cognizant of where you are at in relation to your teammates, can make all the difference between a successful level, and a disastrous defeat. He's much slower than you'd expect, but once he's active ''nothing'' stops him from making a beeline towards where you need him to be - neither trip mines set all along the bridge between him and his destination, nor one side being open to a dozen snipers. All that makes this possible is that you can use the Force to pull him out of harm's way while you deal with all the problems.

* An example of an enemy doing this is the Muton Berserker in ''Videogame/XComEnemyUnknown''. It uses melee weapons instead of the standard plasma guns used by the aliens, and will charge towards any of your squad who damage it. While its melee attack is devastating if it closes the gap quickly enough, the fact that it doesn't utilize cover, combined with its vulnerability to Overwatch fire and the Assault class's Close Combat Specialist skill, means that a squad of soldiers that are able to prepare for it can put it down before it lands a hit.
** Assault troopers can fall prey to this. Their starting skill is "Run N' Gun," which allows them to fire after moving twice. While this allows them to cover substantial ground, it can also put them in a position where they're surrounded by enemies with no backup from the rest of the squad. The fact that their weapon of choice is the ridiculously short-ranged shotgun means getting close is the only reliable way for them to do damage, but it must be balanced rather carefully.

* Leeroy might've popularized the term, but in actuality, he was preceded by none other than Grom Hellscream in ''VideoGame/WarcraftIII''. In the Orc campaign, Thrall was on his way to Stonetalon Peak, trying to avoid contact with humans. Grom suddenly declared that he could wait no longer and that the humans needed to be killed, and so charges off with his own army to the human encampment, at which point you're basically forced to fight the humans as well. Particularly annoying is that if Hellscream used more than five of his 30-odd troops, he could obliterate them all by himself. The dialogue, in a [[LaconicWiki nutshell]]:
