** It's eventually revealed that Jewelius made the lives of Ponyville's citizens miserable [[HitlerAteSugar as retribution for the Mane Five's actions]], via raising taxes, banning trade with other towns, and sending his soldiers to brutalize the citizens; when Fluttershy wonders why he's doing this just because of the heroes' folly, Rainbow Dash gives the obvious answer: spiteful sadism.
