** And the fans are very good at making the most of what little content they get. [[LiteralMetaphor Mycroft carries a torch]] [[http://biblioaesthetica.tumblr.com/post/136437030773/northray-wastingyourgum-undeniable-proof TO THE GRAVE for Lestrade]]. Also, [[http://merindab.tumblr.com/post/155920579684/greg-and-sherlock Sherlock and Lestrade]] discuss Mycroft being a bit shaken up, in a way that ''could'' conceivably be interpreted as implying Lestrade and Mycroft are fairly close or Sherlock thinks they should be. The fans even manage to interpret Lestrade's defensive remark that "I donít just do what your brother tells me" as suggesting the possibility of some BelligerentSexualTension between them.

* Are you the overinterpreting kind? Have some fun with [[FreudWasRight Freudian imagery]]! In ''Scandal'', Mycroft lights a cigarette (commonly regarded as a phallic symbol) for Sherlock. Mycroft is the one who [[spoiler: arranged Irene and Sherlock's meeting]] and ''intended'' for Sherlock to give into Irene's charms. There is some IncestSubtext about this, of course, but it's actually even more than that: The single cigarette is enough to re-awaken Sherlock's partly surpressed addiction. At the beginning of ''Hounds'', he tries to go cold turkey ... and wants John to [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything fulfill his cravings]]. He practically ''begs'' for it. [[IronicEcho Twice.]]

* According to one cast interview, there's a deleted scene from the stag party where John and Sherlock [[CrowningMomentOfFunny "accidentally" visit a gay bar. (They leave it again rather quickly as they have no idea how they ended up there.)]]

* In a FoeYay sense, [[spoiler:Magnussen, known DirtyOldMan in general, has one line on the key "pressure points" of any given figure critical to his plans, maybe two, and a ''scrolling list'' of topics that he's learned are sensitive to the untouchable Sherlock.]]
** Later on: [[spoiler:"I've been thinking about you." "I've been thinking about ''you.''"]]

* The conversation between John and Sherlock as they wait for the ghost to attack outside Lady Carmichaels house has such a strong focus on Sherlocks supressed sexuality that it actually led many fans to believe the Sherlock/John ship is going to be canon:

* Mycroft/Lestrade, despite not appearing on screen more then twice (and those were both very short occasions) have risen to be one of the biggest ships in the fandom, they just happen to appeal to the fanbase.
