** The "thirty seconds" scene is horribly sad, but it also includes a very subtle, very powerful heartwarming moment. Mustang asks Hughes to give him thirty seconds to pull himself together. Look closely at the watch during this scene. ''Hughes gave him sixty.''

* Episode 38 of ''Brotherhood''. 19:12 to 21:12. The most heartwarming 2 minutes ever. [[ChainsawGood Buccaneer]]'s big ass grin helps a lot.

* Episode 38 of ''Brotherhood''. 19:12 to 21:12. The most heartwarming 2 minutes ever. [[spoiler: Buccaneer and some Briggs soldiers were sent down into Sloth's tunnels in order to find a party that had gone down earlier and not returned. Only two survivors were found, and they asked Olivier to give them a 24-hour time window for them to return; if they weren't back by then, they were to be sealed into the tunnel. So, Olivier gives the soldier in charge of keeping track of their time a broken watch, so technically, 24 hours haven't passed according to the watch.]] [[ChainsawGood Buccaneer]]'s big ass grin helps a lot.lot.

** Bonus points on why [[https://youreadtoomuchintoit.tumblr.com/post/157453922780/cloudcuckoolander527-a-little-cuteinteresting the proposal is the perfect way to end the series]]. 'Equivalent exchange' principle subversion has never been sweeter and then you realize why Edward used the principle as his proposal.

** [[http://www.zerochan.net/1207876#full This]] page of chapter 107. [[spoiler:Take a look at some of the hands around the edges... Hughes, Buccaneer, Havoc, even Kimbley, all joining in with the fighters. Bonus points to whoever is holding the picture of Nina.]]
*** Err... isn't that Elicia's picture being held by her dad? And if that isn't who you've got pegged as Maes, I'm even more confused.

* A very interesting Meta Example: At Anime Weekend Atlanta 2010, one of the panels had Voice Actors Creator/VicMignogna, Creator/TravisWillingham, and Creator/LauraBailey behind a curtain, and several of the characters each of them had played on screen (one of whom was Vic Mignogna as Edward Elric). You were allowed to come up and ask a character a question, and the voice actor would answer it as that character. One fan asked Ed (Vic) if he could sing 'Happy Birthday' for her. After he was done, Tohru (FruitsBasket) compliments Ed on his singing voice, then says, "I think you're the perfect height." The whole auditorium went ''Awwwww.'' A video of the panel can be seen [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMxdBbTyVAo here.]]

** As an added bonus [[spoiler: if you paid attention during Hohenheim's origin, all the men in Xerxes wore their hair in that style. In at least one tiny little way, a bit of Xerxes culture lives on long after the country was [[Class0 wiped out]]]]. A very little thing, but heartwarming nonetheless.

* In chapter 53, Al's joy and relief that his brother successfully got out of [[spoiler:Gluttony's stomach]] is sure to tug at the heartstrings. And then Ed apologizes for making him worry because he went through the same pain when he almost lost Al to the gate, which doubles as a TearJerker.

** Alternate interpretation: [[spoiler:it was his greatest act of greed: stealing the honor of killing the BigBad from TheHero]].
*** Not quite... [[spoiler: Greed was only able to lay a path for Father to get killed. Turning Father into charcoal wasn't gonna actually do him in, ''SOMEONE ELSE'' had to do the final honors. Ultimately... Ed released the souls powering Father and Truth finished Father off when he sealed the little gas ball back into the Door.]]
*** Still, [[spoiler:he did the greatest contribution when it comes to dealing damage on Father's body. ('Reward' for most damage done on Father in general goes to the Briggs soldiers.)]]
