** As eerie and/or abrasive as most of Victor's classmates are, the way that they want to win the science fair and try to duplicate Victor's experiments shows that Mr. Rzyrkruski made a CoolTeacher impact on them as well as Victor (even if Bob is afraid to speak in their teacher's defense before he's fired).

!! The Live-Action Short
* Both times when Sparky revives, he gets up rather gently. He shakes himself awake. Victor starts petting him in disbelief, that he actually did it.
* Once they get over the shock, Victor's parents take it quite well when they realize their son revived Sparky. They invite the neighbors over, treat them to snacks, and promise that there is a rational explanation.
* The neighbors shout encouragement as they use their car batteries to bring back Sparky a second time. They say to give him more power, to make up for accidentally killing Sparky.

*** Think about it this way: In 1984, the animated short got Burton fired from Disney. Fast forward over ''twenty'' years later, and the company basically pulled a 180 and said "You were right, we were wrong. Let's make this film." Who wouldn't feel a sense of pride in Burton's place?

* The many references to the history of animation in the movie, such as the stop-motion film Victor made in the beginning, and the Bambi Versus Godzilla scene. It really shows just how much Burton loves the medium.

** Speaking of the tortoise, Toshiaki also seemed to bring his pet back to life not only for the science fair but because he truly missed him. The way he shouts "Shelley!" is just heartbreaking.
