** Plus there are already plenty of powerful Ice-types, who already counter Dragons. Except most are considered competitively lousy for that purpose because most Dragons are so dang fast and strong that they can wreck them first with strong Fire/Fighting/Rock/Whatever moves. Assuming Fairy is indeed weak to Steel, 100-power Iron Tail is not exactly rare among Dragons.

* So Jigglypuff is being retconned into a fairy type, I'm seeing a lot of people complaining or making fun of how Jigglypuff is a new dragon slayer. StatisticallySpeaking, Dragon is the strongest type in the games. Jigglypuff is a ComMon. Provided Jigglypuff manages to outspeed most dragon types, it has ''abysmal'' attack and defense stats. The only way a Jigglypuff can somehow beat most dragon types is if it does so by CherryTapping. Exactly ''what'' are these guys smoking?

** A lot of Pokemon names have been clumsy at best since the fourth gen (how the heck are you supposed to pronounce "Reuniclus"? And what does "Druddigon" even mean?). I blame Gamefreak replacing their long-time English translator.

**** 2nd poster again. Ditto. It's just a word. They didn't even try with that one. At least Seel got one letter changed, and Talonflame is a compound word.

* Alright, I'm seeing some [[FanDumb complaints]] about how Dragons should not have such glaring weaknesses. (Only Fairy actually has any ComMon Pokés in its rank) Exactly why are people getting bent out of shape... you're not ''supposed'' to just send out a mon who just tramples over everything with no fear of ever encountering a weakness. (That's what Gen I was for.) Explain to me how dragon types are "unusuable" because there are fairy types out there... by that logic nearly ''every'' Pokémon is useless. (I find it hard to feel sympathy for these types given that most of my favourites are grass types... and I dare you to try using grass types. Five weaknesses, as opposed to three, with ''four'' being incredibly common, especially online where I ''NEVER'' see a grass type being used. That and most Fire, Flying, Ice, and Bug types are virtually extinct from multiplayer because of Stealth Rock.)

*** Original poster here to say that this is my actual complaint. After the bluntness that was gen 1, we had so much word play. Sure we had some bad ones, like Throh, but it was rarely as straight-forward as 1st gen names. And it really doesn't flow well.

** After four Generations of wordplay, it jarring to see such an unelegant name show up. Not only does is lack any blending of words, it has two consonants in the middle that don't flow into each other.

* I'm actually interested in seeing how the new fairy type turns out and there's a question I was hoping I could get an answer to.. With every type resistance and advantage I like to come up with a reason for the advantage/resistance. For example water beats fire because water douses fire, steel is resistant against dragon because steel armor and shields protect knights from dragons, and etc. It has been announced that fairy is strong against dragon. My question is why is fairy strong against dragon? I really couldn't think of a reason. My first thought was magic except that doesn't really make much sense since dragons in most lore are resistant to and could even wield magic.

** Electrode is actually a real word as well as a Pokémon name. And a crap-ton of Pokémon just get their Japanese names Anglicized for their English names rather than getting names that would be meaningful to English speakers.
