California has a lot of evergreen trees, leaving verdant areas green throughout the year. The sun goes down around 5:30 - 6:00. The teens are not yet into heavy making-out, as the night is still young, and people are still sitting down for dinner. 1) If I remember correctly, there are a few dozen balloons and the police officer even says "There might be some people in here." They were taking quite a number of people hostage.
