* From what it seems, the Black Lanterns(except for Black Hand and Scar) were more or less extensions of Nekron with the memories of their former lives. If so, then wouldn't Nekron be aware he'd be defeated? A number of Black Lanterns were of characters who either came from the future(Reverse Flash, who won't be born for a few centuries) or existed in the future(), and I assume he'd know about them considering the black rings are simply programmed with information about them instead of actually being their possessed souls.

* Similar to the above, what does Nekron's power mean to characters like Hob Gadling, who never dies? Or Darkseid, who has the power to resurrect people as many times as he wants no string attached (yeah, I know Darkseid was dead during this crossover but still...).

** Nekron can indeed use black rings to target the currently living if they were previously resurrected to turn into 'living' Black Lanterns, as long as he has a black lantern who has an emotional connection to the person he is targeting. He did this with many of the Justice League when he brought back 'Batman'. Black Lantern Doomsday would be difficult. The only one who might be connected to him would be Superman, in a fear or rage kind of emotional connection.

* All resurrections happened because Nekron let them to. And he can turn resurrected into Black Lanterns. Okay, but... what does that mean for characters who have 'comes back from the dead' as a superpower? Does Nekron have a soft spot for Mitch Shelley? * Why on earth do they keep trying to rescue Superboy-Prime from the scrappy heap? In the end, he is an awful unlikable character. No matter how much you try, you can't redeem him; he blew up several alternate Earths and he crossed the moral event horizon to many times to be likable. If you want to try to make him likable, make a new character who isn't an asshat.
** Partly because they like needling the fanboys and partially because the people RunningTheAsylum will never give up on a classic character.
** First, you can cross the MoralEventHorizon and still have people call you a DracoInLeatherPants. Second, just because you don't like a character does not mean that others don't and doesn't mean that the character doesn't have merits. Third, and most importantly, THAT PART OF COUNTDOWN DID NOT HAPPEN. The post Infinite Crisis timeline of Prime is: "spent a little more than a year in Green Lantern Sciencell, was broken out and joined Sinestro Corps, threw Anti-Monitor to the Dead Sector, killed a Guardian and was blasted out of current dimension, was plucked out by Time Trapper to cause mayhem in the Legion's 31st century."

* What the hell was the point of recruiting Larfleeze a.k.a. Agent Orange? Larfleeze is useless, he's a CompleteMonster who is NOT funny no matter how much they try to pretend otherwise, and he spends the final battle flying around duking it out with Luthor. Frankly, it would have been better for everyone if they'd thrown Larfleeze in a Sciencell and given the Orange Power Battery to someone like, I dunno, Captain Cold, who qualified as avaricious but was at least kind of honorable. And even then, the only time they really get an Orange Lantern to do anything close to useful turned out to only power Nekron up more.
** Except he actually is pretty funny, that's just your opinion that he isn't (seriously, just look at all of his fans). And it's not his fault he was fighting Luthor, he made it clear he didn't want anyone else with a ring, and did anyone listen? Nope, they handed one over to the greediest man alive who got totally corrupted and tried to steal everyone's rings, whereas at least Larfleeze could hold off until the end of the battle. That one's really Ganthet's fault for holding the IdiotBall and not remembering how the orange light actually works... It really doesn't help that most of Larfleeze's corruption is due to being exposed to the orange light for millions of years. Plus, y'know, his ring can charge to one hundred thousand percent power. Common sense would tell you it's better to have that guy on your side.
*** Remember the Orange light has a huge influence on the wielder. Lex Luthor normally isn't stupid enough to start screwing everyone else over while a greater threat is still present. Larfleeze at least has a little bit of self control, at least enough to honor his deal. Secondly, good luck forcibly getting the Orange Lantern away from him. Remember he took on the entire Green Lantern Corps in his first appearance, and even if you do get it away from him, he has such a strong connection to the Orange Lantern that he still has his power. They didn't have time to waste trying to get it away from him anyways.
**** Fighting a being as powerful as Larfleeze is nearly impossible. Really why fight him when you can just promise him something or bribe him?
***** Because they had to bribe him a slave?
****** It wasn't a slave he wanted, it was his own Guardian. Sayd volunteered of her own volition, and did it in belief that she could help Larfleeze overcome his orange-light corruption.
** The reason they recruited Larfleeze is that they needed the orange light (along with all the others) to recreate the white light, which was the first plan for destroying the Black Lantern main power battery. Since Larfleeze is the only Orange Lantern, they had to recruit him.
* That ending. They could have brought anyone back. Why the hawks, Aquaman, and (old) Captain Boomerang? Why not Dolphin or Aquagirl?
** Popularity, name recognition, usability as differentiated protagonists in BrightestDay. Take yer pick.
** Also I would posit that it was to show that death still has meaning in the DC universe, if they brought back all the best known heroes and left only relative unknowns dead, then the statement that dead is dead now wouldn't have as much impact.
** ...Are you kidding me? It's pretty freaking obvious those particular characters were brought back for storyline reasons. What the would the point be in bringing back those 12 characters for a specific reason, but then all of a sudden you have Dolphin or Aquagirl shoehorned in with nothing to do. Just sounds like someone's fangry that their favorite characters were brought back for no reason.

* I've heard it said that Blackest Night was a commentary on the role of death in comics. I'm not sure what the commentary is though. Nekron is reintroduced as a unified theory of DCU resurrection (though his plot apparently begins with Superman who's resurrection left the door to the afterlife ajar), Hal rejects the notion that this means Nekron somehow owns him, and at the end of the series, in spite of a new wave of resurrections, and the emergence of the white lantern, Barry or Hal (can't remember which) says they think that death means death from now on (though how would they know?). I guess just the mere fact that Johns is calling attention to it and trying to explain why it happens so much means they plan on taking death more seriously from now on and, "oh, would you just let us have one last round of resurrections and then we promise death will be meaningful from now on." Help me out here.

Remember he took on the entire Green Lantern Corps in his first apperence, and even if you do get it away from him, he has such a strong connection to the Orange Lantern, that he still has his power. They didn't have time to waste trying to get it away from him anyways.

* What the hell was the point of recruiting the Orange Lantern Corps? Larfleeze a.k.a.
** The Black Lanterns are just the former bodies of the heroes being used as puppets by the Black Rings. The souls of the heroes themselves are long gone and are not affected by the use of their body in any way. The rings themselves are like computer programs designed to induce the living into extreme emotional states and then kill them, but are not really sentient. Hope that answers your question.

*** Really it's more that Aquagirl and Dolphin could be doing the Aquaman and Laurie Lemaris (or whoever the Mermaid chick in BrightestDay is [I know she's Mera and has has been Aquaman's iwfe for years, but the point is she's an equal nobody to the two I mention])plot in BrightestDay as well as or better than the characters they actually used.

** Atom really put it best when he said that the dead weren't wearing the rings, the rings were wearing the dead.

* Was I the only Scarecrow fangirl who was sad that Black Lantern Grandma Keeney and Black Lantern Sherry Squires never showed up? Come on, Johns, a religious fanatic crazy old lady zombie and a seductive southern cheerleader zombie who would probably both be coming after a MadScientist recently given superpowers for vengeance, it writes itself!

** Also I would posit that it ws to show that death still has meaning in the DC universe, if they brought back all the best known heros and left only relative unknowns dead, then the statement that dead is dead now wouldn't have as much impact.
