** Just because someone lives somewhere doesn't mean they know everything about it. They likely just assumed it wasn't a well-known place, and were more focused on Bartleby having gotten into a college at all. They weren't aware of the mental hospital being there, so they obviously didn't go through that area often, if ever.

* For all the headscratcher moments in the movie the one this troper can never look past is Bartleby and his family (and same for Hands and Rory) live in Harmon. How did none of their parents think "hang on, we've never heard of this college that's in our town" and think to maybe at least drive by the "campus"?

** And given the implication that most of the students come from strict, no-compromise homes, like Bartleby does, it's not unreasonable to conclude that Community College really ''was'' off the table for them.

* Regarding Glen's [[EpicFail '0' SAT score]], is/was it possible to still get that score by signing up for the SAT test and just not showing up to take the test or putting a name that isn't yours on the answer booklet, or would it just show as "incomplete" when the results are sent home and/or to your school?

** And no conservatories, or even any music programs in general. The guy on the accreditation board had to give up trombone for college.

* I know it's kind of necessary for the structure of the plot, but it doesn't make any sense that another institution would be allowed to contest an institutions accreditation. Also, non-accredited colleges exist and aren't illegal. Unless they claimed they were accredited, that alone wouldn't make it fraud.

* Why assume that Community College is automatically a "fallback" if you don't get into your choice of a "real" college? Some kids see university as their only option and don't expect they'll fail.

** Even community colleges can and will turn applicants away for a pathetic GPA or valid suspicions that they'll be a particularly severe troublemaker. Issues with fake ID cards and the police sound plausible enough.

Removing wick to Did Not Do The Research per rename at TRS.

** Especially bad [[DidNotDotheResearch Did Not Do the Research]], because one of Bartleby's rejection letters comes from Ohio State, which never outright rejects Ohio residents, but gives them a status called 'Options for Ohio Residents', which allows you to enroll in one of the regional campuses and try to transfer into Main Campus later.
