** And it cannot be touched for epic moments - each game in the series culminates in several hours of distilled awesomeness, but once you're about 1/5th of the way through VideoGame/{{Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots}} Kojima pulls out all the stops in order to best conclude his epic. The nostalgic battle atop Outer Haven has GOT to be the greatest setpiece in gaming ever.

** [[{{@/Fly}} I]] think ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolid2'' was ludicrously ahead of its time, and ten years from now people will be looking back at it and realising it was incredibly underrated. Mind you, I also admit my favourite character in the game is Snake's butt, so who am I to judge?

** Even if you don't love the spy based gameplay (which is WICKED, BTW), you will LOVE the highly complex story told over all six games. Honestly, it has some of the best, most complex and sympathetic villains I've ever seen - many a gamer has shed tears at the {{Alas Poor Villain}} moments given to Sniper Wolf, Psycho Mantis and the rest, and that's not getting into the Woobies, who you just want to hug. The fact that there isn't even a truly evil enemy at the end was pulled off SO well it didn't feel like a rip=off - it ties in well with the themes. IT's amazing that such a highly complex story can be made with so few jerkass individuals involved (and the several present were hardly in their depth). Some of the battles are the most beautifully imaginative, scripted and choreographed ever - Psycho Mantis totally OBLITERATED the Fourth Wall, and The End is so unbelievably original. Of course, I also love the themes of war and peace, of tragedy and hope, and most importantly, of that little yet wonderful thing we like to call ''life''.

** Part of the reason why this troper loves the MGS series (and has since he first played [=MGS1=] in 2000) is that the series is full to the brim with easter eggs and moments that [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall lean on the fourth wall]]. The most obvious has to go to Psycho Mantis, who talks about Konami games that you have on your memory card in the [=PS1=] version and Nintendo/Silicon Knights games on your memory card in The Twin Snakes, but there's so much more than just him! Like that if you call Mei Ling upwards of ten times and end your conversation by choosing not to save, she will stick your tongue out at you and refuse to save the next time you call her. She does the same thing if you run into the ladies' bathroom on the 1st floor basement of the Nuke Building, but more out of [[WhatTheHellPlayer disgust]] than annoyance. What's more, if you go into first person view in Otacon's lab after the Gray Fox fight, you can find a VideoGame/{{Policenauts}} poster and a [=PS1=]. It becomes a poster for Zone Of The Enders: The Second Runner and a Gamecube in The Twin Snakes. There's also Mario and Yoshi figurines in Otacon's lab in [=TTS=], and shooting the Mario figure gives you a 1up (it plays the jingle from getting a green mushroom in Super Mario Bros. and gives you a slight health boost), while shooting the Yoshi makes it emit the cheer sound from VideoGame/YoshisStory. Isn't that just the best thing ever?! [=MGS3=] doesn't skimp on the easter eggs either, and it's responsible for what I view as the series' SugarWiki/{{Funny Moment|s}}. Two words: Croc Cap. Call up Zero, Para-Medic, Sigint and [=EVA=] while wearing it. Zero and Para-Medic will say that it looks cool, Sigint discusses the previous use of animal disguises in war (he says that in World War II, the [=OSS=] made its agents dress as cows and hide in German fields), while [=EVA=]starts laughing and snorting and telling Snake that he looks like a dork.
--> ''Snake'' (to [=EVA=]): [[OnlySaneMan Finally, I get a normal response!]]

*** You kiddin' me?! MGSV sucked ''because'' of Konami! (Seriously, who cuts out an ''entire mission'' vital to the campaign?!!)

* This page needs more Castlevania! Especially, Symphony of the night.
** I second that emotion, Castlevania, as a whole is a great series, even 64 ain't that bad!
* The freeware fangame [[http://horrorquest.altervista.org/ Castlevanie II: Dracula's Shadow]] is a strong candidate for most underrated game of all time. The author spent 5 YEARS on this remake, keeping all the good things about Simon's Quest, removing all the bad, and then adding so very very much more. Item crashes, 3 playable characters, a boss-fight at every levelup, and on and on. It's everything you ever loved about the NES castlevanias. If Dracula's Shadow had come out on the NES in the early 90s it would have been an instant classic, but released in 2005 for dos and windows it hardly made a ripple. Even after 5 years it's still obscure beyong all reckoning. A youtube search will turn up only a single ''LetsPlay'' and a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QouE-JHDq0 parody/review]] both of which were posted within the last 4 months.

* Really, Konami's Franchise/{{BEMANI}} franchise is this, and SugarWiki/NeedsMoreLove outside of Japan. It says something about their status outside of Asia when even the most diehard Konami fans in the West don't even know what BEMANI is or at least can't name any franchise games besides ''VideoGame/{{DanceDanceRevolution}}'' (which, as great as it is as mentioned above, is far from the only music game Konami produces).
