** After Asta forms a contract of equals with Liebe, the AntiMagic devil, Nacht trains the duo so they can learn to perform Devil Union, which if done properly will allow Asta to draw even more of Liebe's power than he can channel through his Black form by temporarily fusing with him.

* In ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'', [[spoiler:Starrk and his fraccion Lilynette need to merge into a single being in order to use their full powers.]] This is revealed to be because they were actually a single Hollow to begin with that split into two when they became Arrancar. [[spoiler:Starrk]] has dominant control of said fusion while [[spoiler:Lilynette]] becomes his left pistol, which retains her personality and can even talk, but is less useful. There's an implication that she has limited control over where and how much [[spoiler:Starrk]] is shooting. They can further release their power by deepening the fusion, abandoning guns in favor of a bunch of [[ActionBomb spirit-wolves]]. Note that there is a divergence in the anime and manga. In the manga, both of them are just further fused into a single personality, which even identifies as "We." In the anime, [[spoiler:Lilynette controls the wolves herself while Starrk fights on in their main body alone, with her consciousness being able to jump between the wolves in order to better guide them. This is also a necessity because if she runs out of wolves due to them being destroyed, she dies.]]

* Yuno from ''Manga/BlackClover'' becomes able to fuse with the [[ElementalEmbodiment Wind Spirit]] Sylph, giving him a dramatic increase in magic power and a fairy-like appearance.

** The [[Anime/DigimonAdventure02 sequel]] brings a series of similar fusions (XV-mon and Stingmon into Paildramon, Tailmon and Aquilamon into Sylphimon, and Ankylomon and Angemon into Shakkoumon). Unlike with Omegamon above, these evolutions aren't of the Composite-type; the [[AllThereInTheManual spin-off fiction]] insteads presents them to be a variant of the Power Booster type in that the secondary fusee serves as an optional support for the primary fusee to evolve.[[note]]The Ryo games specifically demonstrate this via firstly the 02 Jogress Perfects being accessible both with and without Stingmon, Angemon and Gatomon, and secondly via [=HolyAngemon=] being the result of leading with Angemon and then using Ankylomon as the possible support.[[/note]]

* In the final episode of ''Anime/ValkyrieDriveMermaid'', Mirei and Mamori manage to perform an overdrive that fully merges their bodies into a Composite being (the Armed virus usually turns one of th girls into an EquippableAlly) and gain the StoryBreakerPower of curing the Armed virus.

** [[spoiler: During the final duel in the series, Ai offers Playmaker to fuse together as one in order not to worry about their lifespan. Of course, Playmaker rejects this because even if they do ''fuse'', the result might not been what Ai was looking for.]]

** In ''Anime/SmilePrettyCure'', the villains can fuse with the [[MonstersOfTheWeek Akanbes]] by using the black noses, like the Dark Bracelet example above. And [[spoiler:TheDragon Joker liquefies himself and becomes a part of the BigBad Pierrot.]]
** In ''Anime/DokiDokiPrettyCure'', the villains can fuse with the [[MonstersOfTheWeek Jikochuus]] by devouring the dark Psyches. And later, [[spoiler:Leva and Gula fuse together and become a Jikochuu themselves]].

* Cross Fusion in ''Anime/MegaManNTWarrior'' essentially results in Lan in a Mega Man suit. Mega can communicate with Lan (and they have to be in sync with each other or the fusion falls apart), but otherwise Lan is the one in control. (The same goes for most other Cross Fusion cases, unless the human has a very different body type than the Net Navi. The human's body type wins.) Power Booster disguised as Composite.

* Chizuru and Kouta can do a Power Booster-style fusion in ''LightNovel/{{Kanokon}}''. This kind of uniting can only be done if the kitsune and the partner are willing -- and Kouta is. The most noticeable differences to Kouta are [[LittleBitBeastly ears, whiskers, a tail]] and the ability to launch fireballs.

* In ''LightNovel/TheMisfitOfDemonKingAcademy'', [[spoiler: Sasha and Misha merge into a golden eyed [[PhysicalGod physical goddess]] with long silver hair named Aisha via the spell Dino Jekse in the finale.]] This is justified as the form they take is their original form and the two individuals are actually [[LiteralSplitPersonality two physical halves of this person taking aspects of the original character]], with one being half-demon while the other is full in spite of being twins, foreshadowing their true nature.

* The Hyoma clan from ''Manga/SazanEyes'' is a clan from a small country in southern Asia whose members can use the "Hyoma Body Fusion" to merge themselves with other living beings (the full process involves [[BodyHorror melting into goo in order to absorb the desired bodies]]) and transform themselves at will, taking appendages and traits of the creatures they absorbed. However, the catch is pregnancy: Hyoma fetuses can accidentally activate the fusion while still in the womb and merge with their own mothers, turning them into a braindead abomination. In order to avoid this, the Hyoma clan taught some of their arts to the [[ThirdEye Sanzhiyan Humkara]] in return for making the mothers immortal Wu, capable of surviving the trauma and give birth safely. With the disappearence of the Sanzhiyan though, the Hyoma are endangered once again.
* ''LightNovel/ScrappedPrincess'' uses a mix of the Power Booster and Composite variety. When Shannon (a regular knight) and Zefiris (a dragoon) fuse together, her human-like body disappears, but Shannon is covered by her dragoon form, which in its incomplete form just looks like some sort of fearsome aura, making it look like his powers are just boosted.

* In ''LightNovel/{{Slayers}}'', this is the ultimate power of the little-detailed "Chimera magic" branch of sorcery. Skilled wizards can fuse living creatures together to create superior organisms, although it's seen as a very disreputable branch of magic. Protagonist Zelgadis is an example of how well this can work out; his VillainWithGoodPublicity grandfather, Rezo, made him into a SuperSoldier by merging him with a stone {{Golem}} (giving him SuperStrength, SuperToughness and {{Nigh Invulnerab|ility}}le skin) and a Brau Demon (giving him drastically improved reserves of {{mana}}).

** The Namekians have their own form of fusion which is mostly a Power Booster; one Namekian will fuse his body with another, boosting the other Namekian's power level and giving them access to their memories and abilities, but doing relatively little to alter their personality or appearance.[[note]] In WebVideo/DragonBallZAbridged, absorbed Namekians retain their consciousness in the body of the absorber after the fusion. Both Nail and Kami continue to reside inside of Piccolo's mind after fusing with him.[[/note]]

* The basic premise of ''{{Transformers}}: Kiss Players'' is that certain girls can, after kissing a Transformer, phase into the robot's body, granting it a tremendous power boost and granting it her knowledge (for example, Shaoshao Li could grant Hot Rod her martial arts skills). When they separate, the girl [[TheNudifier will be naked]] and covered with some [[{{Squick}} unidentified white fluid]]. This fusion has a time limit, after which the Transformer will involuntarily eject the girl.

** [[spoiler:Zeruel himself just ate Unit 00 and Rei and became a giant, glowing, naked, sexy young girl with the Angel Of Toilet Paper And Explosions on her head and a core between her {{Gainaxing}} breasts.]]

** The Namekians have their own form of fusion which is mostly a Power Booster; one Namekian will fuse his body with another, boosting the other Namekian's power level and giving them access to their memories and abilities, but doing relatively little to alter their personality or appearance.

** A power exchange happens in the end to [[spoiler:Homura and Madoka. Madoka, thanks to Homura's time-traveling, becomes a history-rewriting force of nature, but ceases to exist as a physical person. Homura loses her time powers, but gains a magic bow, Madoka's WeaponOfChoice in her earlier incarnations]].

** In ''Anime/DigimonTamers'', Matrix Evolutions are when a human and their Digimon partner evolve together, into the Digimon's Ultimate Level. This is functionally identical to the Jogress mechanic presented above, only with the evolution-support being the Tamer, and as such, a Power Booster type.

* In ''Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureJojolion'', mysterious land formations called Wall Eyes have the power to mix and recombine anything that's buried in them. [[spoiler:The protagonist, Josuke Higashikata, is the product of this happening to two ''people'' -- Yoshikage Kira and Josefumi Kujo.]]

** Majin Buu absorbs a victim, gaining some of their physical traits, and having a personality change to lean towards the absorbee, also gaining knowledge and power. However, for Buu, this works both ways: Whilst absorbing Ultimate Gohan gave him a huge boost in power, absorbing the fat Grand Supreme Kai not only added a fun-loving, playful shade to his personality, but also weakened him considerably. Once this aspect is removed, Kid Buu is stated to be physically weaker, but [[ApocalypseHow vastly more dangerous]] without [[RestrainingBolt the Kai's peaceful influence]]. That Buu had already killed and/or [[BalefulPolymorph eaten]] the entire population of the world up to that point speaks volumes to his violent tendencies.

** In ''Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure'', TheBrute Gekidrago can fuses with [[MonstersOfTheWeek Zakennas]]. [[spoiler:TheDragon Illkubo, too. And the [[TerribleTrio Seeds of Darkness]] fuse together and they become the Giant.]]

** In ''Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure'', both, Karehaan and Dorodoron fuse with [[MonstersOfTheWeek Uzainas]], respectively, in their final battles. [[spoiler:Only during their first final battles.]]

* In ''Anime/VividredOperation'', one of the flagship features of the Vivid System is gifting the protagonist, Akane Isshiki, with the ability to fuse with other users of the system. The fusion is of the Power Boosting type, with Akane disappearing and the other users turning into an OlderAlterEgo with increased powers. Strangely, Akane seems to be the leading personality in the new body, rather than any of the other girls.

** ''Manga/DigimonVTamer01'' has Neo use [[MerchandiseDriven the very jogress sequence that owners of the v-pets needed to use]] to get an "Ultimate Level" monster. Hideto also has his own WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon which can fuse into Omegamon.

** ''Anime/DigimonFusion'', draws from multiple categories. Human generals can perform a "Digi Xros", fusing the Digimon inside their Xros Loaders. There is always one Digimon who is the center of the Xros, so this usually takes the form of a Power Booster or the secondary Digimon turning into [[EquippableAlly equippable allies to the central one]]. Shoutmon's Xroses in particular look similar to a CombiningMecha, but always have him in control so they're still Power Booster types. Some opponents are shown to [[DevourTheDragon absorb their subordinates]], falling under "biological mash-up" (minus the blending personalities), even before gaining Darkness Loaders. Finally, there's GrandGeneramon, a HybridMonster created by forcefully mashing all Seven Generals into one.

** ''Anime/DigimonAdventure'' has War Greymon and Metal Garurumon fuse into Omegamon (aka Omnimon) in TheMovie. Omegamon not only looks like both of them, but speaks with the voices of both at once. A Composite type. [[spoiler:''Tri'' adds the other six Digidestined's Ultimates as Power Boosters to the mix to form Omegamon Merciful Mode.]] There also minor instances of [[EatTheDragon villains absorbing their minions as power-ups]] (Devimon absorbing Ogremon, Vamdemon absorbing PicoDevimon, etc).

While Takuya and Koji are the only ones ever shown doing it in the anime, Human-Beast fusions for the other warriors have been released in the card game and in some cases featured in the episodes of other Digimon seasons (Daipenmon being in Xros Wars).

** ''Anime/DigimonFusion'', draws from multiple categories. The human characters with "Xros Loader" devices can temporarily fuse together Digimon into new forms: some are in the "composite" category, while others become inanimate weapons to be wielded by the remaining characters. Some opponents are shown to [[DevourTheDragon absorb their subordinates]], falling under "biological mash-up" (minus the blending personalities).

* As noted above ''Anime/YuGiOh'' features a Switcher, but with a twist (Yami Yugi is ''dead'' and doesn't have his own body to return to, instead being stored in the Millennium Puzzle). A number of other characters can do this; most Millennium Items also seem to have the ability to split/merge souls in one body, though without physical power-up (unless you count [[SeriousBusiness increased card game prowess]]. [[WindsOfDestinyChange And you should]]).

** ''Anime/YuGiOh'' also subverts this (in that Yami Marik's eye stays with him) when he merges with his Egyptian god card.

** Also in Dawn of the Duel, Priest Karim does just this using the Millennium Scales to fuse his and Priest Seto's Ka Spirits together, literally calling it "Ka Fusion".
* The Elemental/Evil Hero Fusions used in ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'' work as the first two types, combining into a hodgepodge Hero of its components with beefed up versions of their abilities. The Neos fusions fit into this trope better, though, as for the most part, they rely on the materials' innate "Contact Fusion" power to form, instead of an outside Fusion spell like the others. A few other characters such as Syrus, Zane and Alexis use fusion monsters as well.
** Jaden and Yubel's fusion are of the Power Booster variety; Yubel can still speak to Jaden in his mind (and appear as a spirit), and he can use their powers and when he does so, his eyes change colors to be just like theirs.

** [=PatchBobo=], (Don Patch + Bo-Bobo) when Don Patch switched his name to top billing. (This would arguably be a type D fusion. The fusions have nothing to do with whomever fused to become them.). In the sequel manga, [[spoiler: Don Patch presses a not-supposed-to-be-pressed button into Bo-bobo and fuses their Hajike souls together, powering up the fusion into Papapa-pa Pa-papatch.]]

** In several seasons, there are instances of Digimon who have been blasted into particles of data - just how dead this makes a 'mon varies between the different series in the franchise - having these particles absorbed to empower the leader. This was pure power booster in ''Tamers''. There is no distinction in appearance. In ''Xros Wars'', this causes the absorber to take on physical aspects of the absorb-ee. As for personality, most of the Shoutmon combinations are simply Shoutmon using the others to power up; Shoutmon's voice alone is heard, personality unchanged from when not fused. However, sometimes we do hear the others speak. Basically, there's a "core" of a fusion and the others ''typically'' leave the driving to him but can copilot as desired.

** The {{Trope Nam|er}}ing move itself is a Composite type (which requires two warriors of similar strength and size to perform and must be in '''perfect''' sync), and it's also temporary, lasting 30 minutes normally. Four examples were shown: Goten and Trunks becoming Gotenks, Goku and Vegeta becoming Gogeta in the movie ''Anime/DragonBallZFusionReborn'', Goku and Vegeta becoming Gogeta as Super Saiyan 4 in ''Anime/DragonBallGT'' and [[spoiler:Goku and Vegeta becoming Gogeta in ''Anime/DragonBallSuperBroly'']].

* ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' provides the TropeNamer and TropeCodifier and many examples of character fusions. In several cases, fused characters even speak with both voices of their individual parts in unison. The series has several kinds of fusions:
** The {{Trope Nam|er}}ing move itself is a Composite type (which requires two warriors of similar strength and size to perform and must be in '''''perfect''''' sync), and it's also temporary, lasting 30 minutes normally. Four examples were shown: Goten and Trunks becoming Gotenks, Goku and Vegeta becoming Gogeta in the movie ''Anime/DragonBallZFusionReborn'', Goku and Vegeta becoming Gogeta as Super Saiyan 4 in ''Anime/DragonBallGT'' and more recently, [[spoiler:Goku and Vegeta becoming Gogeta in ''Anime/DragonBallSuperBroly'']].

*** In ''Budokai 2'', they expand on this. Buu can also absorb Vegeta, Cell, Frieza, and Yamcha/Tien. The Yamcha/Tien absorption weakens him, but in return, [[WeakButSkilled he gains access to more attacks than his other absorptions give him]].
*** To combat mystic-empowered Gohan, Buu challenged Goten and Trunks to fusion dance into Gotenks, and he then absorbed Gotenks and Piccolo at the same time, which gave him Gotenks power with Piccolo's intelligence. However, since the fusion dance has a 30 minute time limit while fighting Gohan and Goku, Gotenks de-fused and resulted in Buu losing a lot of his power. Later when Goku and Vegeta enter Buu's body they find the various absorbed victims hanging from cocoon-like structures.

** The 3DS game ''VideoGame/DragonBallFusions'' takes this a step further and runs on this, with Capsule Corporation inventing a new method of fusion through a device called the Metamo-Ring. Appropriately enough, Bulma outright describes this method as a fusion of the two other methods: it mostly functions like Potara fusion, but it requires the Fusion Dance and lasts until the fused being removes the ring. It's also [[SerialEscalation taken another step further]], with the [[QuirkyMinibossSquad Ginyu Force]] inventing a '''five-person''' version of the Fusion Dance that produces a single being who's so insanely powerful that it only lasts for about ten seconds.

--> "I can feel it... two powers merging together into this body. Observe! A body that can infinitely increase in strength and is immortal! It feels good, this power that fills my body... this is true justice!"

* A mostly forgotten example in one of the early episodes of the ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'' is the Pokémon Gastly that uses illusions to attack... and in doing so combines the (illusory) Pokémon Venusaur and Blastoise into what it terms a "Super Pokemon" -- Venustoise. This has never been referenced again and such a fusion isn't seen again until Black 2 and White 2.

** In the card game itself, there's a card called Fusion (Polymerization in the English version) that lets you fuse two or more monsters into one big one. Sometimes they share attributes of both (Black Skull Dragon), other times it's a literal cramming together of multiple monsters into one body (Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon) and sometimes it's something so random one can only wonder why they made it a fusion monster (Metal Dragon). Fusing a mounted warrior with a monster usually just results in the warrior switching mounts (Gaia the Dragon Champion).

** In ''Anime/DigimonTamers'', Bio-Merge Digivolutions are when a human and their Digimon partner evolve together, into the Digimon's Mega Level. This is functionally identical to the DNA mechanic presented above, only with the evolution-support being the Tamer, and as such, a Power Booster type.
** ''Anime/DigimonFrontier'': Susanoomon is the result of combining all ten Spirit pairs into one mon, a Composite of [[PlayingWithFire EmperorGreymon]] and [[LightEmUp MagnaGarurumon]]. On a lesser scale, the Fusion Evolutions are the result of melding the Human and Beast forms of each elemental spirit to create a new form combining traits of both (e.g. a character who could transform into a dragon or an armored warrior could become a humanoid dragon wearing armor). While Takuya and Koji are the only ones ever shown doing it in the anime, Human-Beast fusions for the other warriors have been released in the card game and in some cases featured in the episodes of other Digimon seasons (Daipenmon being in Xros Wars).
** ''Anime/DigimonFusion'', draws from multiple categories. The human characters with "Xros Loader" devices can temporarily fuse together Digimon into new forms: some are in the "composite" category, while others become inanimate weapons to be wielded by the remaining characters. Some opponents are shown to [[DevourTheDragon absorb their subordinates]], falling under "biological mash-up" (minus the blending personalities).
** In several seasons, there are instances of Digimon who have been blasted into particles of data - just how dead this makes a 'mon varies between the different series in the franchise - having these particles absorbed to empower the leader. This was pure power booster in ''Tamers''. There is no distinction in appearance. In ''Xros Wars'', this causes the absorber to take on physical aspects of the absorb-ee. As for personality, most of the Shoutmon combinations are simply Shoutmon using the others to power up; Shoutmon's voice alone is heard, personality unchanged from when not fused. However, sometimes we do hear the others speak. Basically, there's a "core" of a fusion and the others ''typically'' leave the driving to him but can copilot as desired.
* ''Anime/GaoGaiGar'' is a Mecha show, and thus has a bunch of CombiningMecha examples; but the qualifiers for the Fusion Dance trope are the 31 Primevals ([[NinjaPirateZombieRobot alien robot zombies themed after various body parts]]), who can use a Composite example called "Primeval Fusion" to combine with each other. Since they can also assimilate pretty much any organic or inorganic matter, this results in some truly bizarre mash-up monsters, like [[WeaponizedLandmark one of the Pyramids of Giza with a giant arm coming out of the top, with the head of the Sphinx forming one of its fingers]]. Seriously, that's one of the MonstersOfTheWeek. [[spoiler: They can also combine into a single being, the Z-Master, which is about the same size as a freakin' planet. And by "planet", we mean ''Jupiter''.]]

** Chimeras are the result of alchemical fusion of two beings. ''Human'' chimeras tend to be a Mixed Form Shapeshifter--if done correctly. Failed Human chimeras result in a Composite-like fusion with the human half's soul and memories in control, but [[BodyHorror very much in pain]]. Successful ones retain their human forms, but can transform into a HalfHumanHybrid or gain powers reminiscent of the animals fused into them.

*** After [[spoiler:Pride]] was almost defeated, he ate [[spoiler:Gluttony]] and gained his powers ([[spoiler:acute sense of smell]]), but remained in control. He later ate [[spoiler:Kimblee]], but this backfired because [[spoiler:Kimblee]] managed to remain a distinct personality--because [[spoiler:[[InsanityImmunity the screams of tormented souls are like a lullaby to him]]]].

* ''Manga/{{Naruto}}''
** BeastMan [[HotBlooded Kiba]], who can merge with his [[PreciousPuppies dog Akamaru]] into a [[CanisMajor massive two-headed wolf]]. The body counts as a third form over which both participants have control, but the two of them are typically so in sync that there is no squabbling about a course of action. They just kick ass.
** [[spoiler:White Zetsu clones]] have shown the ability to merge into a bizarre [[Literature/TheLordOfTheRings Ent]]-like giant.
** There's also [[spoiler:[[DragonAscendant Kabuto]]]], who integrated [[spoiler:his former boss Orochimaru]]'s body into his own to gain vastly increased power and special abilities.
** Flashbacks show [[spoiler:BigBad Tobi]] utilizing [[spoiler:Spiral Zetsu]] as a living exoskeleton.
** Kisame can fuse with his ''sword''.
* The Guardians also pull it off in the ''VideoGame/MegaManZero'' manga, becoming that series' "Copy X". Interestingly enough, they beat Rockman Zero, but they lose to the cowardly Zero. That's embarrassing.
* The Power Booster variant turns out to have taken place in ''Anime/DarkerThanBlack'' with [[spoiler:Hei, who turns out to be human with his dead sister's Contractor powers]]. She somehow lives on inside him.

* ''Manga/ShugoChara'''s Character Transformation system works as a Power Booster. Amu wears the clothes of the respective Chara inside her, and gains a bit of extra power and agility with it.
** The lesser version of this, the Chara Change, results in a change in hairpin and a violent personality shift as Amu's Chara ''possesses'' her, often without thinking to seek her consent, good intentions or not.
* ''Anime/Figure17TsubasaAndHikaru'' features a sentient alloy that "fuses" with other people (the result is a somewhat androgynous alien being with superpowers). The main character, Tsubasa, ends up with one "leaking" from its protective container all over her and fuses with it; afterwards, the alloy takes its own form as Tsubasa's "twin" Hikaru, since it has no container to return to.
* ''LightNovel/ScrappedPrincess'' uses a mix of the Power Booster and Composite variety. When Shannon (a regular knight) and Zefiris (a dragoon) fuse together, her human-like body disappears, but Shannon is covered by her dragoon form, which in its incomplete form just looks like some sort of fearsome aura, making it look like his powers are just boosted.
* Chizuru and Kouta can do a Power Booster-style fusion in ''LightNovel/{{Kanokon}}''. This kind of uniting can only be done if the kitsune and the partner are willing--and Kouta is. The most noticeable differences to Kouta are [[LittleBitBeastly ears, whiskers, a tail]] and the ability to launch fireballs.
* Out of the blue the finale of ''Anime/JubeiChan'' has [[spoiler: Jiyu and Freesia]] inexplicably joining together and then proceeding to kick ass.
* In ''Manga/UFOPrincessValkyrie 2'', Akidra is born of a Composite fusion... with a twist. [[spoiler:When Akina and Hydra's friendship is ruined, and they despise each other, it becomes possible for them to fuse to form Akidra, who has the sum power of them both and all of their abilities. Their personalities remain separate, and they can converse and argue. If they come to like each other too much, the fusion separates again.]]
* In ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'', Schierke has merged astrally with Guts several times, but not to power him up--she did it to prevent him from killing the rest of his TrueCompanions because of the cursed Berserker Armor acting as a powerful conduit for his EnemyWithin.

* The abovementioned "Power Booster"-type transformations in ''Manga/{{Pretear}}'' allow Himeno to choose between seven available [[MagicalGirl forms]] and [[ElementalPowers powers]] by choosing a Knight to merge with, but result either in her draining the Knight's [[LifeEnergy "Leafe"]] in order to perform attacks (manga), or in the Knight receiving injuries from battles instead of her (anime). Additionally, in the anime version the transformations are specifically said to be the result of joining ''spirits'', not bodies--which seems to make it impossible for the Pretear to merge with a Knight against her will, even if she is just in doubt.
* In ''Manga/DGrayMan'', twin brothers Jasdero and Devit shoot each other in the head to merge into one single entity... Jasdevi. However, it has been hinted that Jasdevi might have split into the twins ... but the twins are always seen as separate entities in both the manga and anime.
* ''Manga/BoboboboBobobo'' parodies [=DBZ=]'s Fusion Dance with several of its own bizarre fusions, including [=BoboPatch=] (Bo-bobo + Don Patch), [=BoboPatchnosuke=] (Bo-bobo + Don Patch + Tokoro Tennosuke), Tenbobo (Tennosuke and Bo-bobo), Denbo-chan (Bo-bobo + Dengaku Man) [[spoiler:and Torpedo Girbo (Torpedo Girl + Bo-bobo, only in the sequel manga, [[TheWorfEffect taken down before doing anything]]).]]
** [=PatchBobo=], (Don Patch + Bo-Bobo) when Don Patch switched his name to top billing. (This would arguably be a type D fusion. The fusions have nothing to do with whomever fused to become them.). In the sequel manga, [[spoiler: Don Patch presses a not-supposed-to-be-pressed button into Bo-bobo and fuses their Hajike souls together, powering up the fusion into Papapa-pa Pa-papatch.]]
** Some special circumstances create even more bizarre fusions are Kintenbo (Bo-bobo + Tennosuke + ''Halelukani's money'' thrown at them) and a ''beautiful adult woman'' (Bobo-bo + Don Patch under the influence of a X-dimension turned into O-dimension), or either alter the forms (like kid-turned Bo-bobo and Don Patch fusing into a poorly drawn [=BoboPatch=] or [[spoiler:a far more powerful and different looking Shinsetsu [=BoboPatch=] due to Bo-bobo mastering the Shinsetsu no Hanage Shinken)]].
* Also mentioned in the examples, ''Anime/BirdyTheMighty''. [[SpacePolice Interstellar Police Officer]] Birdy accidentally injures [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent Tsutomu]] in pursuit of suspects who fled to Earth. As punishment for being so reckless (or trying to cover it up in the remake manga) she is forced to allow Tsutomu's consciousness to share her body while his is fixed. She can shapeshift into Tsutomu's form so he can continue his everyday life but--at least in the TV series--she appears to maintain ultimate control over their shared body.
* Early on in ''Manga/ShamanKing'', the shamans tended to use their own bodies as vessels for their spirit partners. Later, they learned to use inanimate objects instead for greater effectiveness.
* In ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'', [[spoiler: Starrk and his fraccion Lilynette need to merge into a single being in order to use their full powers.]] This is revealed to be because they were actually a single Hollow to begin with that split into two when they became Arrancar. [[spoiler:Starrk]] has dominant control of said fusion while [[spoiler:Lilynette]] becomes his left pistol, which retains her personality and can even talk. Less useful. There's an implication that she has limited control over where and how much [[spoiler:Starrk]] is shooting. They can further release their power by deepening the fusion, abandoning guns in favor of a bunch of [[ActionBomb spirit-wolves]]. Note that there is a divergence in the anime and manga. In the manga, the 2 are just further fused into a single personality, which even identifies as "We." In the anime, [[spoiler:Lilynette controls the wolves herself while Starrk fights on in their main body alone, with her consciousness being able to jump between the wolves in order to better guide them. This is also a necessity because if she runs out of wolves due to them being destroyed, she dies.]]
** Part of Ichigo's [[spoiler:Final Getsuga Tensho]] technique involves [[spoiler: fusing with Zangetsu]].
* Parodied in ''Manga/SgtFrog''--Momoka's split personality is manifest as a second Momoka, and the only way to rectify this is through a literal Fusion Dance, where mastering synchronized swimming will cause them to synchronize physically and meld back into one. Unfortunately, Keroro and Giroro, by way of imparting this to Momoka, get themselves fused together by complete accident.
** More recently, Keroro fused with each member of the platoon one by one in an attempt to boost their powers to invade earth, but turns out to be helpful instead of harmful. [[spoiler: Then all five of them fuse together and end up slipping on a banana peel.]]

* ''Anime/{{Shinzo}}'': The majority of characters in the show are Enterrans. Enterrans have the ability to transform to become stronger and they turn into "En Cards" when they die. When an Enterran eats an En Card, or absorbs one through the chest, they transform into a composite of them self and the Enterran the card they ate/absorbed came from. The protagonist Mushra does this with the other two male heroes, Saago and Kutall, to become Mushrambo. [[spoiler:Subverted later on when it's revealed that they're actually the three split components of the Anterran leader General Mushrambo, who originally orchestrated the genocide of the human race.]]
* The ending of ''Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion 2.0'': Unit 01 [[spoiler:melts Zeruel into a cloud of LCL which then [[{{Fanservice}} reforms into a giant Rei]], which in turn merges with Unit 01 to become a god... and starts the [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt Third Impact]]]].

** Though the 5-Mizune witch has yet to do anything but provide FanService, in the manga two or three Mizune can combine together to form a teenage-looking girl (the one made from three looks a bit older) actually capable of fighting.
* In ''Manga/NuraRiseOfTheYokaiClan'', Rihan's and Rikuo's ability as a half-youkai, Matoi, [[spoiler:allows them to "wear" the "fear" of their subordinates to increase their individual power, also gaining some of said subordinate's techniques]].
* In ''Manga/CinderellaBoy'', Ranma ([[Manga/RanmaOneHalf not that one]]) and Rella are [[WeCanRebuildHim rebuilt]] into the same body after a fatal accident by a MadScientist. Every 24 hours, they switch places. The scientist developed the system as a way to reduce overpopulation; Multiple people in the same body take up less space, after all.
* In ''Manga/{{Claymore}}'', [[TheAtoner Raphaela]] has vowed to [[KillTheOnesYouLove kill]] her [[TragicMonster sister.]] However, since she loves her, she ends up unintentionally pouring her life energy into her in the same instant. The end result looks somewhat like ConjoinedTwins and is initially completely unresponsive like a statue - until [[NiceJobBreakingItHero someone wakes it up,]] giving birth to [[EldritchAbomination the Destroyer.]]
* ''Anime/BlackRockShooter'' has the Power Booster variant - the titular character gains access to her [[ArmCannon arm]] [[{{BFG}} cannon]] when she merges with [[spoiler:Mato]]. Her appearance is unchanged, though [[spoiler:the two were already similar in appearance]].

* In ''Manga/{{Beelzebub}}'' [[spoiler:Oga and Be'el]] can fuse through [[spoiler:Super milk time.]]
* ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'' has a villainous example: [[spoiler:Walpurgisnight, the most powerful witch (aside from Madoka's witch form), is a conglomerate of many witches fused together.]]
** A power exchange happens in the end to [[spoiler:Homura and Madoka. Madoka, thanks to Homura's time-traveling, becomes a history-rewriting force of nature, but ceases to exist as a physical person. Homura loses her time powers, but gains a magic bow, Madoka's WeaponOfChoice in her earlier incarnations]].
* A mostly forgotten example in one of the early episodes of the ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'' is the Pokémon Gastly that uses illusions to attack... and in doing so combines the (illusory) Pokémon Venusaur and Blastoise into what it terms a "Super Pokemon" - Venustoise. This has never been referenced again and such a fusion isn't seen again until Black 2 and White 2.

* The basic premise of ''{{Transformers}}: Kiss Players'' is that certain girls can, after kissing a Transformer, phase into the robot's body, granting it a tremendous power boost and granting it her knowledge (for example, Shaoshao Li could grant Hot Rod her martial arts skills). When they separate, the girl [[TheNudifier will be naked]] and covered with some [[{{Squick}} unidentified white fluid]]. This fusion has a time limit, after which the Transformer will involuntarily eject the girl.
* In ''Anime/VividredOperation'', one of the flagship features of the Vivid System is gifting the protagonist, Akane Isshiki, with the ability to fuse with other users of the system. The fusion is of the Power Boosting type, with Akane disappearing and the other users turning into an OlderAlterEgo with increased powers. Strangely, Akane seems to be the leading personality in the new body, rather than any of the other girls.
* A special one shot called "Boy Girl Fusion" [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin is where a boy and a girl merge together to fight evil]] [[GenderBender It does turn the male into a hot chick though]].
* In the manga, ''Manga/BinbogamiGa'', [[spoiler: Momiji does this with With Ichiko Sakura in chapter 27 to keep Yamabuki from extracting her own fortune. It basically cancels out both of their powers to zero, after which they split the power they have with Yamabuki equally, putting them on the same level. And then they apologize for being jerks in the first place, leading to a slight subversion to the [[CurbStompBattle usual result.]]]]

* The anime of ''Manga/ArpeggioOfBlueSteel'' has several different types of fusions:
** Haruna and Kirishima fuse into one huge ship to combine their powers in order to defeat the heroes. The result is that [[spoiler:the two fog ships present a single target for the heroes to defeat in one decisive shot]]. This one also happens in the manga.
** Takao merges with the I-401 to [[spoiler:save Gunzou and Iona, as they had been sunk by her sisters]]. The result is the submarine cruiser Ars Nova. The ship still has the designation I-401, and Iona is mainly in control, but Takao can still control anything. They have no problems cooperating, though, and they even have more Fog ships on board who can help with various processing tasks as well.
** Kongou forcefully merges with Maya and ''eight'' Nagara-class cruisers into some kind of super zeppelin, which gives her enough firepower to obliterate entire fleets. However, Maya never had a true core, so she didn't have a real personality for Kongou to take over.
* In ''Animation/GuardianFairyMichel'', by fusing with the fairies, Michel gains their powers and then some, showing exactly why he's the guardian. Regular fairies Biam and Polly accidentally fuse once, creating a forest dragon.
* In ''Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureJojolion'', mysterious land formations called Wall Eyes have the power to mix and recombine anything that's buried in them. [[spoiler:The protagonist, Josuke Higashikata, is the product of this happening to two ''people'' -- Yoshikage Kira and Josefumi Kujo.]]
* In ''LightNovel/{{Slayers}}'', this is the ultimate power of the little-detailed "Chimera magic" branch of sorcery. Skilled wizards can fuse living creatures together to create superior organisms, although it's seen as a very disreputable branch of magic. Protagonist Zelgadis is an example of how well this can work out; his VillainWithGoodPublicity grandfather, Rezo, made him into a SuperSoldier by merging him with a stone {{Golem}} (giving him SuperStrength, SuperToughness and {{Nigh Invulnerab|ility}}le skin) and a Brau Demon (giving him drastically improved reserves of {{mana}}).
* Like the game it was adapted from, Sorey in ''VideoGame/TalesOfZestiria the X'' can fuse with seraphim. Not only can Rose fuse (with Dezel), but [[spoiler:Alisha can fuse with Edna]]. [[spoiler: Sorey can also fuse with four seraphim at the same time]].
* Numerous examples in ''Anime/TenchiMuyo'', mostly with the OVA:
** Sasami and Tsunami is ''currently'' a Switcher type as Tsunami merged with young Sasami to save her life. The two can't be active at the same time and they have to either switch places or Sasami has to be asleep for Tsunami to act. There are hints, however, that this is also a Power Booster type and, when Sasami gets older, this will become a Composite form.
** Ryoko and Zero-Ryoko ends up pulling a Power Booster type in episode 12. This temporarily drives Ryoko nuts as Zero-Ryoko was head over heels for Tenchi and Ryoko was ''not'' ready for that.
** Ryo-Ohki goes Multi-Form Shapeshifter in Episode 10 when she bonds with the Masu, obtaining her humanoid form.

* Yuno from ''Manga/BlackClover'' becomes able to fuse with the [[ElementalEmbodiment Wind Spirit]] Sylph, giving him a dramatic increase in magic power and a fairy-like appearance.
* In ''LightNovel/TheMisfitOfDemonKingAcademy'', [[spoiler: Sasha and Misha merge into a golden eyed [[PhysicalGod physical goddess]] with long silver hair named Aisha via the spell Dino Jekse in the finale.]] This is justified as the form they take is their original form and the two individuals are actually [[LiteralSplitPersonality two physical halves of this person taking aspects of the original character]], with one being half-demon while the other is full in spite of being twins, foreshadowing their true nature.
* ''Manga/NagasareteAirantou'': The shrine maidens can fuse themselves or other people with one or more of their shikigamis to use their powers and gain enhanced strength. The result looks like they are wearing battle armor resembling the shikigamis.
