* ''Series/RedDwarf'': managed to pull this in a single episode, more specifically in series VII, episode "Stoke Me A Clipper". The opening shows dimension-hopping hero [[TheAce Ace Rimmer]] rescuing a princess from parallel-dimension Nazis, a process which involves jumping out of an aeroplane, skyboarding on a ''live crocodile'' gunning down a platoon's worth of Nazis in midair and performing several stunts on a motorcycle. Ace gets shot in the process, but only quips "This is my best top, dammit!" (as befits his macho character) and goes back to work. However the rest of the episode gets dark, since it is shown that Ace is not only dying from the wound, he's also a HardLightHologram, which in turn means that the real Ace (who was a semi-frequent guest character in earlier series) is dead, and probably has been for some time.

The episode already wasn't the most sensitive depiction of trans people, but has since become ''deeply'' uncomfortable to watch due to creator Graham Linehan becoming openly, actively and intensely transphobic over following years (made even worse seeing as, according to some sources, it was the offense taken by the trans community at this episode that really kicked off his subsequent views and behaviour).

She got pregnant not too long after they met without knowing that he was a suspect in an ex's murder. * ''I Love the Holidays'': Weird Al's advice on [[DoNotCallMePaul never calling Dick Clark Richard]] seems rather harsh after Clark's death in 2012.
* ''I Love the New Millennium'': In Creator/VH1's show, while discussing Rihanna's "Umbrella", the commentators note how she was discovered by Jay-z. Cue the joke about how [[DomesticAbuse Beyonce will probably want to beat Rihanna with an umbrella.]]
* The premiere episode of ''Series/{{Invasion}}'' -- which takes place in the midst of a powerful hurricane in Florida -- was aired several weeks after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita ravaged the Gulf Coast, prompting ABC to air a disclaimer at the start of the broadcast and to pull hurricane-themed promos for the show.

* ''Series/{{Jeopardy}}'': In March 2007, [[SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome there was a tie for first place between all 3 contestants]] , making it the first non-zero three-way tie in Jeopardy history. Though in November 2014, [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks Jeopardy producers removed the co-champion rule]], somewhat negating its impact.
** One of the answers on the May 19, 2020 show was "Bruce Wayne is missing and Creator/RubyRose dons the cowl as this title CW show who's no mere girl." The show is ''Series/Batwoman2019.'' This episode, taped in advance, aired the ''same day'' that Ruby Rose announced she was not returning for ''Batwoman'' season two.
* In one episode of ''Series/{{Jessie}}'' Zuri remarked "We're going to be taking care of him in our old age" in regards to her brother Luke. Luke's actor Cameron Boyce died from a seizure at the age of 20.

* ''Series/JoeBuckLive'' On the infamous first episode of Joe Buck Live, Artie Lange quips "There's 80 websites predicting my death in a week, artielangesgonnadie.com. After his suicide attempt in 2010, that joke is just not the same.

** In "Peggy Sue Got Work", Peggy gets a job in a department store to earn money for a VCR after Al refuses to buy her one. While working, she overhears a customer talking about Oprah doing a whole week on "Transsexuals: Which Bathroom Should They Use?" No longer funny after 2016 when this very issue became a national controversy.
** A ninth-season episode has the NEA being dismantled after the work of an idiot (Al's shoe films). [[http://www.npr.org/2017/03/16/520401246/trumps-budget-plan-cuts-funding-for-arts-humanities-and-public-media Fast-forward to 2017...]]

* ''Series/{{Merlin|2008}}'': In Series Two, Guinevere confronts Arthur with his bad manners and asks: "would it kill you to say please and thank you once in a while?" [[spoiler:Fast-forward to the GrandFinale and guess what Arthur's last words to Merlin are? Yup, "hold me please", and "thank you." Apparently saying it ''does'' kill him.]]

* ''Series/TheMiddle'': In the fifth season, a RunningGag in "The Award" has Sue being mistaken for an exchange student from Ukraine. The episode, obviously written and filmed months earlier, aired the week after serious political unrest in Ukraine, including the deaths of dozens of protesters in the streets of Kiev, forced the country's president to flee.

** At one point in the episode "Mork The Practical Joker", Mork is acting overly-dramatic to Mindy's practical jokes and gasps "Oh, oh my heart", which is extremely cringe-worthy after Creator/RobinWilliams' heart surgery in 2009.
** "Mork And Mindy Meet Rick And Ruby" where Mork sings a song called "This Heart Is Closed For Alterations". [[BlackComedy Actually it was opened for alterations]], in Robin Williams' case.

** The extremely popular song "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZyJCV_dyug Let's Have a Patrick Swayze Christmas]]" seemed slightly less funny during the 2009 holiday season, three months after Patrick Swayze died. But Swayze himself got a kick out of the sketch, which makes it okay, if a bit wistful.

* Just averted as a March, 2020 episode of ''Series/NewAmsterdam'' was to focus on the plotline of a deadly "superflu" hitting New York and overwhelming the hospital with Daniel Dae Kim guest-starring. It was pulled because it would have aired right in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic...and Kim caught the disease himself.

** One episode had an actor who played a [[Radio/TheLoneRanger Lone Ranger]]-esque character who was upset about a new, grittier movie that went completely against what his show/movies were about. He threatened to kill himself with a suspended air conditioner. In the end, it all worked out because the movie bombed with audiences, so the old guy wins a moral victory. In 2013, a DarkerAndEdgier [[Film/TheLoneRanger2013 film adaptation]] of ''The Lone Ranger'' was made by Disney, and was also poorly received. This would seem HilariousInHindsight, except for the fact that Disney's ''Lone Ranger'' is on track to becoming one of the biggest {{Box Office Bomb}}s of all time. (Or maybe it's the [[WesternAnimation/DespicableMe2 Minions]] that bombed The Lone Ranger?)
** Also, the episode was a case at the time of RippedFromTheHeadlines, as the "Red Ranger" story was a AffectionateParody of the troubles that Clayton Moore had suffered at the hands of the movie studio that produced the 1981 bomb ''Film/TheLegendOfTheLoneRanger'' (which was also DarkerAndEdgier than Moore's original TV series). The studio had forbidden Moore, after legal action, to dress as the Lone Ranger, a character he loved appearing as.

* ''Series/PeeWeesPlayhouse'': Ah, the star-studded Christmas special of 1988. It starts as one of the most heartwarming specials of the 1980's until Pee Wee has Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello making Christmas cards for him. Pee Wee repeatedly chastises them for not working fast enough, and when they ask for food, he gives them bread and water. This joke stopped being funny in 1991 when Funicello announced she had multiple sclerosis and is even less funny since she died.

* ''Series/PoliceSquad'', short as it was, intended to do a CouchGag where they would introduce a special guest star... ''and then immediately kill them off'' as a play on "15 seconds of fame". They had wanted to make each act unique and amusing, but the humor stopped quite abruptly when one of the guests chosen for the gag, Creator/JohnBelushi, ''died for real''. In order to avoid this trope, they had to hire another guest very quickly, and they didn't have time or resources to remake the original kill-off scene, forcing them to break their pattern and repeat a simpler scene they could do in a pinch.

* One recurring sketch on the Canadian sketch show ''Series/TheRedGreenShow'' is "The Possum Lodge Word Game", which parodies the game show ''Series/{{Password}}'', in that Red tries to get a member of Possum Lodge to say a certain word to win a prize. In one episode, one lodge member, animal control officer Ed Frid, had to say "duck", and one of Red's clues went as follows (which ultimately makes fun of a certain celebrity-turned-U.S. President)...
-->'''Red:''' This is a cartoon character, real wacky: [[WesternAnimation/DonaldDuck Donald...]]\\
'''Ed:''' [[Creator/DonaldTrump ...Trump]].
** Although, depending on one's thoughts and feelings about someone as polarizing as Donald Trump, especially as U.S. President, it is debatable whether this counts as a "Funny Aneurysm" Moment or if it's more an example of HilariousInHindsight.

* ''Series/TheResident'' episode "So Long, Dawn Long" ends with a doctor realizing a deadly superfungus is loose in the hospital and infecting doctors and parients. The episode aired on March 17th, 2020....right as the Coronavirus pandemic was covering the globe.

* ''Series/Room101'':
** Beloved BBC Radio DJ John Peel's 2002 [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1J07D6gSik appearance]] made for a very sweet and funny episode, which is also very sad to watch now, since one of his nominated items was death, and he spends a lot of the time talking about his eventual death and how he would or wouldn't like to go. He died suddenly in 2004.
** In one episode, Nick Hancock lists Jimmy Savile as one of the worst things in the world. It feels less like a joke now that Savile has been outed as a child molester.

* ''Series/RoundTheTwist'': In "Santa Claws", Mr. Snapper berates Pete for wearing a face mask, even though he has a reason for wearing it (he claims it is because he has lost his voice, but it is actually because his mouth has shrunk [[spoiler:as a result of Linda wishing he "didn't have such a big mouth"]]). Fast forward over 30 years, and in the Australian state of Victoria, where ''Round the Twist'' takes place, face masks have become mandatory as a result of [[UsefulNotes/CoronavirusDisease2019Pandemic COVID-19]], possibly until well after the pandemic is over. As such, everyone ''but'' Pete would be berated for ''not'' wearing one without a good reason.
* ''Series/SamAndCat'': In "[=#FavoriteShow=]," Sam and Cat's beloved ''That's A Drag'' is abruptly axed despite being a big hit, and they want to know what kind of network would cancel a show under those circumstances. Answer: Nickelodeon, which wound up giving ''Sam & Cat'' itself the same treatment the following year.

** Kevin Clash's 20+ years as Elmo's puppeteer are forever tainted by the scandals that forced him to quit the show.

** One episode in TheNineties had a {{Trumplica}} named "Grump", a real-estate developer who threatened to demolish Sesame Street to make room for a business tower before ultimately having a change of heart. In 2016, the real Trump became President of the United States, and one of his first acts was to threaten to cut funding for public broadcasting, putting ''Sesame Street'' in jeopardy for real.

** The first episode of the seventh series featured a smutty joke told by Naomi relating to the "Boris Bikes" promoted by London Mayor Boris Johnson. Four days after the show was broadcast, a female cyclist died in a collision with a lorry whilst riding one of the bikes.

** One of the wacky, self-referential MilestoneCelebration episodes had Martin Lloyd mention that it had been suggested that he go with a younger, hipper version of his fictionalized SG-1 for the movie he was making. We get an ImagineSpot to a hilarious soap-operatic version of Stargate, with Teal'c as ThePornomancer, people stopping to randomly make out during scenes when they really shouldn't, and Vala randomly telling Daniel she's pregnant. Then all other Franchise/StargateVerse projects are flushed in favor of ''Series/StargateUniverse,'' which... seems like they used that scene as a blueprint for a new series without realizing it was supposed to be a joke. Now that SGU has failed (it lasted less than two seasons before its unceremonious cancellation), ''all'' other Stargate projects are [[FranchiseKiller on indefinite hiatus]]. Suddenly, ''200'' isn't nearly as funny as it was when it came out.

* ''Series/Studio60OnTheSunsetStrip'': The show's producer breaks into a live sketch and rants about the terrible state of American culture, and is especially livid about a reality show where the object is to behave like ''Donald Trump''. No-one tell him...
* ''Series/{{Succession}}'': The entire Waystar board schemes to "kill Bill" by making him take the fall for the cruise ship rapes and other crimes in "D.C." during a Senate hearing. The actor who played Bill, Mark Blum, died of coronavirus in March 2020 before Season 3.

* ''Series/SurpriseSurprise'', an Creator/{{ITV}} LongRunner, is prone to this trope ever since the 2012 ReTool/ContinuityReBoot with HollyWilloughby. Given that this is now RealityTV, it makes one critic's write-up of it as "DudeNotFunny" seem eerily appropriate. It may have seemed like SnarkKnight back then, but now it's less funny.

** One syndicated episode parodying ''Series/CharliesAngels'', including the boys giving their reason for watching as "the hot blonde with the big rack", happened to air the day Creator/FarrahFawcett died.

* ''Twisted Tales'' has been the name for many anthology series over the years, but the 2005 [[Creator/TheBBC BBC]] version included an episode written by and starring Creator/{{David Mitchell|Actor}} and Creator/RobertWebb entitled "Nothing to Fear", in which a pulp horror writer (Mitchell) suffering from writer's block is persuaded by his unemployed roommate (Webb) to recharge his batteries by staying at a tacky horror-themed guesthouse. As they arrive, they are accosted by a dishevelled Stuart Hall, former presenter of ''Series/ItsAKnockout'', who urges them to leave as the guesthouse is cursed, destroying the lives of all who stay in it. The use of Hall for this side of the story has become a lot less funny in the wake of his 2013 conviction and imprisonment for sexual offences against underage girls.

** One episode featured "Weird Newscasters". Wayne Brady, who is doing the sports, becomes Music/MichaelJackson, who is trying to show that he can still perform even if he is 100 years old. On [[http://www.tmz.com/2009/06/25/michael-jackson-dies-death-dead-cardiac-arrest/ June 25, 2009]], he only lived to half this age.

* On an episode of the PBS series ''Series/{{Zoom}}'' from 1999, the kids had a chat about where they'd be living in ten years. Cast member Jared jokingly said in ten years he'd be living in the sky. Jared was killed in a car accident in December, 2006 making his joke a lot less funny due to the newfound accuracy of his statement.

* For quite a long time there was a show in Argentina called ''Peter Capusotto y sus videos'', which showcases satires and sketches intertwined with musical videos, some of which [[WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs seem to be made under the effects of drugs]]. One of those sketches is called [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wHBdexVM9E "Restaurant Uy! Nos Rompieron El Orto!"]][[note]]"Restaurant Ouch! They made our asses bleed!"[[/note]]. In 2008 it was a satire about restaurants' tendency to overprice their meals. Ten years later, the funny was gone with the inflation making ''day-to-day meals'' impossible to buy.
