** After Kindaichi and Marin are back in the company office following the end of the murder case, Kindaichi finds himself under scrutiny from the general affairs officer asking him about the invoice from the hotel where he and Marin had booked for a night, especially after finding out the hotel in question was heavily geared for ''lovers''. Kindaichi is at a loss about what to say to get himself out of this one, so Marin takes over to get herself and Kindaichi in the clear -- by giving the gist on their circumstances in full confidence. Kindaichi is worried that her approach wouldn't fly... only for the general affairs personnel to voice her approval and walk away without further interrogation, much to Kindaichi's shock and relief.

** Kindaichi, being an ApatheticStudent, struggles to cope with the strict regimen in the CramSchool, and it ''shows''. He begs and pleads to go with Miyuki when she tells him goodbye, right around the START of the regimen, necessitating Souta to hold him back. Then he gets distracted by his own thoughts about how Miyuki is doing early in a class session, which causes him to pull out the wrong textbook and results in the teacher telling him off for it. The meals being provided in the facility isn't enough to sate his appetite, as evidenced when he whines about needing a hamburger and fries. He also finds the study sessions, each of which lasts ''hours'' at a time, quite grueling, though Miyuki is ''happy'' that he's finally studying now when hearing about it on the phone, which displeases him. At one point he breaks down, causing the teacher to tell him not to make noises and to turn to the subject at hand, before immediately letting his mind wander with the ImagineSpot of Miyuki, much to Sota's exasperation.

** The deceased Saki's spirit issues a warning to Hajime ("Be careful... of snowy mountains and attractive offers!"), which comes off as cryptic to Hajime, but he gets smacked before his answer can be answered -- namely, by the teacher dropping a chalk eraser straight onto his head due to him being AsleepInClass yet again, indicating that the whole sequence with Saki's spirit was AllJustADream.

** During SummationGathering, Kindaichi argues that the initial lot-drawing process had been tampered with and decides to reenact the event to prove it, asking each survivor to draw a piece of paper from the same box that was used for the lot-drawing process earlier, claiming that only the murderer would draw the "winning ticket" that reveals the culprit's identity. As it turns out, the pieces of paper the innocent get are written as "loser #[incert number]" (e.g. the piece Kindaichi takes is "loser #2" and Miyuki's is "loser #6"). This is one incident where being a "loser" is a better deal.

** Kindaichi, having stayed up too late drinking with two friends (one of whom being Saki), nods furiously at one point to keep himself wake while a staff meeting is in session. Unfortunately for him, that happens to be the moment when a higher-up is asking for volunteers for an upcoming promotion project, so Kindaichi GotVolunteered by himself.

** As the first day of promotional discussion is ending due to the time of the day, Kindaichi and Marin are about to head to a hotel... only to realize that neither of them has managed to book a hotel room in Kyoto at all. OverlyNervousFlopSweat ensues... for the next 30 minutes, when both try to book a hotel room right away and fail. They end up staying in Kyougoku family staff bedroom.

** During Kindaichi's post-TimeSkip reunion with Reika, she asks about Miyuki. Barely a second later, Miyuki sends a text to Kindaichi asking him whether he's drinking alone and enjoying the sight in Hakodate. Given that this particular case arc takes place in Hakodate itself, the content of the text gets Kindaichi nervous.

** Part of Kindaichi and Itsuki's reunion after the 20-year TimeSkip involves Kindaichi introducing Marin to Itsuki, though Itsuki snickers at the former speech Kindaichi uses and teases the latter with insinuation that Kindaichi's business trip with Marin might become a relationship that is more than professional, much to Kindaichi's annoyance.

** At this point, Miyuki is concerned that there must be conditions for such a hefty reward, all while Hajime and his mother are first immersed in their own thoughts about what they'd do with this much money before arguing with each other regarding whose money it'd be. By the time the lawyer starts stating the conditions for the monetary reward, Hajime and his mother are depicted trying to duke it out with each other in a boxing match, gloves and all.

** The proprietress of the opera house hotel greets the visitors who have just arrived on the island, but her daughter treats her with a cold shoulder. The proprietress scolds her daughter for being cold to her in front of the guests, so her daughter responds by putting up a sweet facade, with a mock curtsy to boot, before skulking away.

** During the mushroom-picking, Kindaichi decides to make sure to have some moment alone with Miyuki by any means, and he makes good of the decision via picking mushrooms that would cause specific non-lethal side effects to his selected targets and volunteering to cook in the cabin. It works as planned on one guy due to the intended effect being to make him need to defecate and, therefore, excuse himself, but his plan backfires when the intended effect for the other two involves MushroomSamba, as Miyuki ends up '''setting the cabin on fire while hallucinating herself lighting the fireplace''', while the other target '''pours petrol into the fire under the delirium of dumping water to put out the fire'''. All four of them manage to escape the cabin unharmed, but the cabin is no more by the time everyone is back to their senses.

** Kindaichi makes a stupid remark after one of the contestants answers the second-to-last question and provides a valid explanation that includes something numerical, which causes Miyuki and Kenmochi to {{Faceplam}} in unison, as this happens ''on live TV''.
