*** Which in turn is made even better in the [=ReAnimated=] version, where to get his payment he ''pulls out a gun and money bag.'' And ''still'' gets trampled.

[[AC:The Dover Boys Reanimated Collab]]

* The Dover Boys was subjected to [[https://youtu.be/j0U8iL38xfM the reanimated treatment]] hosted by [[https://twitter.com/Zeurel Zeurel.]] It has all the humor of the original short, now with added visual gags by virtue of the many visual styles used in it – coming from the 90+ different animators who collaborated on it – the rapid otherwise-unexplained transitions between them, and straight-up references to more recent culture and media, including anime. Highlights include:
** The opening credits are a mash-up of ''Franchise/StarWars'', ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'' and ''Film/{{Grindhouse}}''.
** The very first shot of Pimento University, panning away to show [[Film/AnimalHouse Delta House]].
** Dick, who was completely static in the original, noticing that his introduction is taking a ''bit'' too long and gesturing to the narrator to hurry it up.
** The first OldTimeyBathingSuit guy sequence instead being played ''by a guy in a ridiculously low-effort fursuit'' holding a "P.U. FUR LIFE" sign before getting pulled off-screen by a VaudevilleHook. This bit was animated by certified nutcase Pikapetey. He also threw in a FreezeFrameBonus – when the guy jumps in the air, the phrase "Dat Ass" appears on his butt for a single frame.
** The OldTimeyBathingSuit guy getting run over by Tom.
** The Dover Boys, for no ostensible reason, being drawn in a ''Franchise/ScoobyDoo''-esque style (with their hats suddenly back on after losing them in the previous scene) and driving to pick up Dora in the Mystery Machine (which reads Dover Boys on the side.)
** Dora suddenly being a balloon as she goes down the stairs. The next frame shows a slug with a mannequin propped on top of it, only for the wig to fall off.
** As the boys leave Dora's place, Larry is holding a sign that says "[[TakeThat Wreck-It Ralph 2 is just the Emoji Movie]]" and glaring towards the camera while pointing to the sign.
** When Dick and Larry hide in the tree, they're joined for a moment by camouflaged [[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons Milhouse]].
** Dan pulling out a ''dakimakura'' body pillow of Dora instead of a portrait (she's clearly his waifu).
*** As he's fondling the pillow, a portrait can be seen on the wall behind him, reading "Our favorite customer" and featuring an especially putrid picture of Dan.
*** As a FreezeFrameBonus gag, the eyes on the dakimakura turn to stare at him for an instant.
*** The pillow turns into a portrait, which he then [[LecherousLicking proceeds to lick]]. After he hangs it over the bodybuilder poster, Dora's already deformed face melts.
** Tom and Dora ''actually'' dabbing as they pass the tavern (Dick meanwhile is doing a [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure JoJo pose]]). The whole gang do it ''again'' right before the hide-and-seek game starts. As they hold the poses they begin racking up a stunt score, ''VideoGame/TonyHawksProSkater''-style
** The second (official) time OldTimeyBathingSuit guy shows up... as a ''robot''. Dan Backslide, rather than being frozen as in the original, just looks on in confusion.
** When the boys are looking for hiding spots, Larry actually ''uses'' the cannon that was just a piece of background in the original cartoon (which he is then shot out of).
*** Larry is also literally dragged-and-dropped into the scene as if this were Photoshop. Later, he is seen inexplicably tearing out of a crack in the grass.
** When Dora reaches the five-hundred count, a squirrel looks at her and then just [[AsideGlance looks at the camera]] in bewilderment.
** As the Dover Boys run down the street looking for a hiding place, they [[FreezeFrameBonus quickly pass a movie theater]] with a marquee showing the titles ''BIG ROCK 2'', ''CRAZY PEOPLE'', and ''SOUP TIME''. Tom momentarily poses in front of the poster for the first.
** A cameo by Senketsu from ''Anime/KillLaKill'' in the trunk of the runabout Dan steals amid several other anime items, and a photo of Groucho Marx.
*** Instead of cranking the runabout like Dan does in the original, he attaches a bike pump to it and ''inflates'' it. The license plate also inexplicably changes to "HARK", giving an implication that Dan is stealing ''his own runabout.''
** Dan's book on "How best to remove young lady from tree" also includes a page on "How to make an animation interesting," featuring a picture of Dora herself shrugging.
*** The first book Dan pulls out is titled, ''How to be Teal and Beautiful'', with pictures of [[VideoGame/MarioTennis Waluigi]] and [[WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants Squidward]] on the cover. Dan grins sheepishly at the camera (from the opposite side of the screen as his body) and tosses the book away.
** A sudden change into sparkles-and-bubbles shojo anime style when Dora is yelling to Larry for help. This is especially funny as a contrast to the more cartoony animation styles right before it.
*** Not long after, a different animator has Dora bearing some resemblance to Clarisse from ''Anime/TheCastleOfCagliostro''.
** A cameo of a Wile E. Coyote-shaped hole as Dan Backslide is driving away with Dora, and a Road Runner sign. Previously Dora tried to grab onto the SLOW sign only to break it off.
** Dan inexplicably transforms into an ''Manga/{{Akira}}''-like abomination as he pulls Dora into the cabin. [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment Naturally, he's back to normal after a few more seconds.]]
** The inside of Dan's cabin has a number of FreezeFrameBonus gags after Dora tosses him across it: a photo of a grumpy Dan with the Dover Boys, a ridiculously buff statue of a naked Dan, the OldTimeyBathingSuit guy hiding as a lamp, ''an unfinished part of the background, complete with an artist note'', and a portrait of Backslide himself who looks on at the carnage dubiously.
** Immediately after, as Dora is battering and pulling on the door to get out (which she did not do in the original), you can see that [[MindScrew Dora is also outside the cabin]] T-posing.
** The young boyscout inexplicably transforms into Dan and Dora (even mimicking her cry for help) to explain the situation to another fellow boyscout. After explaining and getting fatigued from all of the running the young boyscout did, his fellow boyscout accidentally kicks the young boyscout in the chin while making an urgent run to the telegram post. [[BaitAndSwitch Only for him to casually walk ten feet to it.]]
** The postman relaying the telegram having a significantly more exaggerated "HELP" scream and attempting to ''hold the Dover Boys at gunpoint to collect the 35¢ fee''. It doesn't work, but his expression doesn't even change as he's pushed out of the way.
** When Dan finally gives up and starts yelling for Tom, Dick, and Larry to come save him from Dora, he looks straight out of a Creator/DonBluth animated film and he's considerably more pathetic-looking than in the original cartoon and it only strengthens the humor of the moment.
** A flag of WesternAnimation/PepeLePew shortly appears as the Dover Boys are about to rescue Dora.
** Tom's head inexplicably shapeshifting into whoever or whatever he's addressing as he yells "Unhand her, Dan Backslide!" near the end, including ''[[MultipleHeadCase Dick AND Larry simultaneously]].''
** In the background of the scene above, there is a Dan Backslide bobblehead on the mantle, an Elf-on-the-Shelf, and a portrait on the wall showing Backslide conversing with a thoroughly unimpressed [[WesternAnimation/{{Villainous}} Black Hat]] at what appears to be a villain convention.
** Tom's TopHeavyGuy proportions go UpToEleven as he suddenly has enlarged hands with a ComicalAngryFace and is shown furiously pounding his enlarged index finger on a [[PummelingTheCorpse limp Dan, who flails up and down as Tom's finger hits him]]. When Dan is lifted up by a piece of the wooden floor, there's a notable hole in his chest from the pounding of Tom's enlarged finger. Tom then proceeds to charge unknown energy into his fist to perform a MegatonPunch, causing the limping Dan to [[UnexplainedRecovery suddenly wake up]] as the fist is about to connect to his face. Dick and Larry are also seen in the background smirking smugly at the humiliated Dan.
** Dan's injured face is hilarious due to the fact that it's more humiliating than in the original and there's a literal bone sticking from a puncture in his nose. When Dan gets punched multiple times, his face is actually being physically punched by everyone rather than being a motion blur, with his [[CameraAbuse face flying towards the camera]] at the end of the scene. And if you look closely, there's a [[FreezeFrameBonus random octopus tentacle]] that deals the final blow to Dan. Who knows who or where that came from.
** There's even a couple moments of FreezeFrameBonus throughout the cartoon showing that [[spoiler:Dora is ''aware'' she's beating up Dan Backslide and is just stringing him along!]]
** A number of animators had a ''blast'' with Larry's physique; giving him extra fat rolls, eschewing his bike in favor of just having him roll along like a beach ball, and in one case, turning him into a literal egg.
* During the scene with the Dover Boys riding to the rescue, there is one clip where they ride past as dogs bark in the background, as if to symbolize that the chase is on. The dogs barking is in the original, but in the Reanimation, the animator has the ''Dover Boys themselves'' doing the barking, with Tom vocally barking, Dick's head replaced by a siren, and Larry having shapeshifted into a literal dog.
