This is easier said than done, because if he just gives the Dominie money and sends him to buy his own clothes he'll end up wearing something ridiculous. So [=MacMorlan=] hires an artist to take the Dominie's measurements from a distance, then gets a tailor to make him two suits of clothes, then hides the new clothes in the Dominie's room while he's asleep. The Dominie doesn't seem to realise he's been given new clothes, and only comments on how much his old ones have changed.
