Then ''Rise of Skywalker'' reveals the situation is ''inverted'': Rey is not a nobody at all, but the ''granddaughter of Palpatine himself''; his son and daughter-in-law fled from him to protect her, and were essentially nightmares who chose to become nobodies. And then played straight once again, as Palpatine wants her to kill him so he can BodySurf and merge his spirit with hers to make her the new Sith Empress in a galaxy in which there are no Jedi left to oppose her.]]
