* Due to Felicia Henderson and/or the editors of ''ComicBook/TeenTitans'', [[spoiler: the other Titan members have no clue nor seem like they care that Kid Eternity was kidnapped and ultimately killed off, by the Calculator via forcing him to constantly revive/summon/create a duplicate of his dead son Marvin]].
** [[spoiler: In a recent crossover with ''Red Robin'', they find out. Based on Wonder Girl's utter ''fury'', I'd say they care a great deal.]]
* The {{Batman}} and TheJoker rivalry is full of FridgeHorror moments: among other notes:
** Batman, when confronted by former Robin and Joker victim Jason Todd over why he doesn't just kill Joker to save future victims of the murderous clown villain, proclaimed that he wouldn't kill Joker because he doesn't want to give up the "moral high ground" of not killing. [[UnfortunateImplications That's right, Batman would rather let Joker keep killing (and stop others from offing the villain, as seen by the fact that Batman had ZERO problem slitting Jason's throat moments after making this proclamation) simply because of the fact that it's more important that Batman feel smug about himself and his moral superiority over the Joker]].
** It's not that Batman's worried in the abstract that a murder would tarnish him, so much as it is that killing the Joker in specific would. The Joker is, after all, a lunatic, and not in control of himself. Batman, in contrast, tries to be the paragon of self-restraint and dedication to a higher ideal of justice. To kill the Joker, Batman must first admit that the justice he believes in is illusory. He wants to do it, he clearly knows that mathematically, leaving the Joker alive causes more deaths. He just knows that if he kills someone who can't help himself, he may as well be killing innocents.
*** The Joker has acted on this multiple times, trying to commit suicide by Batman just to get Batman to compromise his morals. going with the Christopher Nolan's ''The Dark Knight'' [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation character interpretation]], maybe he doesn't want Batman dead; maybe he wants the most moral person in Gotham to become a villain to prove his point. It is all just a game to him. Of course, it depends on the writer.
** Joker knows Bruce Wayne is Batman, especially after Batman unmasked in front of him during the "Batman RIP". While Joker has largely stated that he doesn't care who is under the cowl, the fact that he KNOWS Bruce Wayne is Batman is enough to chill a person's spine given that if the Joker got bored enough, one day he might act upon this information for massive damage.
** Dan Jurgens, during the most recent version of the "History of the DC Universe", opined the notion that Joker specifically carried out his attack on Commissioner Gordon and Barbara Gordon (which led to him trying to drive Commissioner Gordon insane and crippling Barbara Gordon for life) in TheKillingJoke not to make a point about the slippery slope of insanity, but because he wanted to destroy people Batman cared about in order to hurt him in order to compensate for the fact that he couldn't kill Batman himself. Given how Joker is insane enough to be playing chess on God knows how many levels, that adds a new level of horror as far as why he picked Gordon for his experiment.
*** Not to mention the fact that Joker basically crippled Batgirl without even KNOWING that Barbara was Batgirl. Though he later found out after the fact, it's a scary thing to know that Joker eliminated one of his main enemies as an innocent bystander.
*** This bit of FridgeHorror was partially undone by her conversion to Oracle. He didn't eliminate her. Not even close.
* ''TheWalkingDead'' contains lots of HighOctaneNightmareFuel already, but The Governor takes the cake in this category. Among the many nasty things he does, he collects the severed heads of those he's killed to feed his "biters" and sticks them in tanks, then sits and watches them complaining "there's nothing on TV these days." Nasty, right? Then you remember that anyone killed, bitten or not, rises as a zombie... and even after decapitation, the head is still animate unless the brain is destroyed...
** And then there's the scene with zombies in the basement at the house at Wiltshire Estates. One wonders how the zombies got down there in the first place. Then, later, it's revealed that it's not the bite that turns people... ''any'' death will turn you into a zombie. So it's quite likely that those were the original owners of the house, who hid in the basement for safety and died of starvation. *shiver*
* It's implied that there's little to no police officers or law force of any kind in the ScottPilgrim universe. Does that mean people can go around murdering people by the dozens and and get off [[IncrediblyLamePun scott free?]]
** Adding support to that implication, when [[spoiler: Scott]] was murdered, [[spoiler: his sister]] didn't call police or ambulance. She just called [[spoiler: their mother]] to report his demise.
** Here's some more:
*** Apparently, if you use Subspace in a special way, [[spoiler: you can alter someone's memories.]]
*** Where do people go when they die? And when they materialize into coins, are they [[AndIMustScream aware of this?]]
* In the second volume of {{Runaways}}, the story arc with the return of Comicbook/CloakAndDagger has Dagger [[spoiler: beat up by an obsessed fanboy]] with the culprit having Cloak's powers. The horror comes in first with the [[spoiler: obsessed fanboy]] [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything who, while in Cloak's appearance, comes to her and does something that causes the team to close their eyes in disgust]]. And this guy is [[spoiler: a hospital orderly with exclusive access to her room]].
* For ''JLAActOfGod'', it was bad enough when WonderWoman was so distraught over the loss of her powers that she [[DrivenToSuicide contemplates suicide]]. It gets even worse when you see the ending and realize [[spoiler: Diana was '''pregnant''' at the time]]. Even [[AtopTheFourthWall Linkara]] missed this until a viewer pointed it out, and his reaction was pure Fridge Horror.
** In his AllStarBatmanAndRobinTheBoyWonder review, he points out that [[FanNickname Crazy Steve]] sounded like he was going to kidnap Dick Grayson regardless of his parents being alive.
** Not just that - Linkara also points out that [[FanNickname Crazy Steve]] sounds like he was so desperate to get Dick to become his ward, that he would have ''killed the boy's parents himself if the assassin hadn't beat him to it''.
* A lot of Green Lantern villains have had this happen to them: Black Hand was recently outed as a necrophiliac, Hector Hammond is constantly trying to mindrape Hal Jordan in order to steal his memories of all of the sex he has had over the years whenever he's not having his powers jammed, the Manhunters committed an act of genocide against an entire space sector (Sector 666) that was then COVERED UP by the Guardians because they didn't want anyone to find out what their creations did (cause who would trust them to run a police force after their first police force did that) and the survivors (who were naturally pissed off at how everyone and everything they ever knew or loved was dead) were isolated to a lifeless world and left eternally crucified in terms of being made to suffer horribly so as to not give the Guardians bad publicity.
** The Hector Hammond thing took on ultra-scary terms when you see him LITERALLY eating Hal's memories in ''Green Lantern'' (vol. 4) #62.
* DC Comics has an alternate continuity where everything that 'really' happened is just comic books. So all the characters we care about? Their lives are spilling out onto the page just for someone's amusement. Including the horrible parts. It's canon that Commissioner Gordon's naked, brutalized daughter was seen by uncounted millions, not to mention sketched out by a guy earning a paycheck.
** Um... you ARE aware that you've just described our OWN planet, aren't you?
** Oh... and the universe has only ONE super-powered being: a CompleteMonster who has committed mass murder, gleefully killing people left and right, and who brutally enslaved his adopted parents and did vague bad things to the only friend he had in the world when (via the comics of his atrocities), they confronted him with what he did when he finally returned to their universe. The only people who can stop him? They won't be born until 1000 years later and the one who has the best possible chance to HURT Superboy-Prime (Element Lad) was casually murdered by him.
*** Even worse: the future of Earth-Prime? A society where teenagers are treated like chattel property across the galaxy. One world where everyone could see into the future via their dreams, to keep their teenage population from rebelling against being sent off to fight an unwinnable war where they will die by the thousands, found a way to BLOCK all of their teenagers ability to dream and see the future that awaited them in order to prevent them from refusing to fight in said war. End result? Thousands of teenagers driven to suicide from the psychological damage of having their ability to sleep taken from them as adults. And Superboy-Prime? He's still around, unpunished for his murderous deeds and living amongst the rank and file Legion of the Super-Hero groupies who have built a shanty town around the Legion's HQ, acting like a big shot who tells the groupies fake tales of Legion exploits while hiding his identity via a PaperThinDisguise of a cloak.
** Superboy Prime is actually on the DC forums, under the username clarkkent-prime. This [[PsychopathicManchild insane,]] [[YourMileageMayVary bordeline]] [[CompleteMonster monstrous]] PhysicalGod ''exists.''. Imagine what'll happen when he flies into another tantrum. With all his powers. We are all screwed.
* The fate of Mary Jane's pregnancies count: drugged and forced to miscarry, with the implication being made that the baby MIGHT have survived and was now in the custody of Norman Osborn (Spider-Man's archenemy) and (due to ExecutiveMeddling) the storyline ended up with the baby's namesake (Aunt May, in a stroke-induced coma) instead being Norman's hostage instead! Oh, and this child got erased from existence by ''OneMoreDay''! That's not all though; during One More Day itself, it's revealed that Mary Jane is pregnant again! And Mephisto SPECIFICALLY torments Peter and MJ, as he seduces them into taking his deal, by taking the form of their second child (another girl) as he taunts them with how their deal with the devil will negate this child's existence!
** Speaking of ''OneMoreDay'', have you noticed the logo for JoeQuesada's column, [[http://www.hypergeek.ca/wp-content/gallery/press5/cup-o-joe.jpg "Cup O' Joe"?]] Like, the fact none other than Spidey is behind Quesada? [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything You know what that really means?]] The implied meaning of the logo is about Quesada either threatening, teasing, daring, trolling, provoking or irritating the audience (and other writers alike) with the message, ''"if you want to retcon SpiderMan, you have to get past me"''.
** Similarly, the final fate of Ben Reilly: in order to show fans that Ben was a clone all along, it was decided that Ben wouldn't just die, but die horribly via disintegrating into a puddle of goo in his last moments of life, even though it had been firmly established that Jackal's clones only disintegrate into goo after a long period of time.
* The ultimate fate of Ned Leeds: while investigating the hot new villain Hobgoblin, you are grabbed and subjected to MindRape, in which the villain uses you as his stand-in to establish an alliance with the mob in order to overthrow the Kingpin after Hobgoblin made an enemy of him. You have periods of black outs and become more and more aggressive, as the mind rape takes hold of your brain. You become more and more angry, driving your wife into the arms of another man and finally, when the Hobgoblin is ready to make you take the fall for him, has you attack both the wife and her lover, unmasking in front of her and causing her to have a mental breakdown (in part because the Hobgoblin had framed Ned's wife's lover for being the Hobgoblin when Flash publicly dissed him on TV). But you don't remember that because of the blackouts and you head off to Europe where you and your only remaining friend stay at a hotel in Berlin, the middle of Communist East Germany! Once alone in your room, you have another blackout and wake up dressed as the Hobgoblin! Suddenly the door is broken down and hired assassins MURDER you in gruesome fashion. While one of the assassins takes pictures of you being beaten up, your arm being broken as you try desperately to defend yourself, and finally death by way of having piano wire used to garrote you. OH, then the costume is taken off of you and you are posed as if you were killed by the KGB by your friend. A friend, when confronted with PICTURES of your death (dressed as one of his major enemies), can't be bothered to fucking remember that said villain HAD SUPER-HUMAN STRENGTH, meaning that there is no way that a bunch of assassins would have been able to break your arm, let alone be able to kill you like they did. And no one would fucking care to ask any questions whatsoever, until the villain who ordered the hit "outs" you as the Hobgoblin in a desperate bid to get several of his convictions overturned, after spending years claiming to be the one true Hobgoblin in order to pad his reputation.
* The whole premise of the {{Anvilicious}} ECComics story ''Judgment Day'', when you think about it. The story is about robots who are divided between those with orange and blue casings, with [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything the orange robots being bigoted against the blue robots, who are treated as second class citizens, even though the only difference is the casings.]] Now then, it is established that the robots have not changed their programming at all since the humans put them on their own planet, so that means that the humans intentionally programmed the robots to be racist.
* In a memorable Iron Man storyline, Tony's armor is infected with Ultron-tech and essentially becomes his abusive boyfriend: jealous, controlling, and obsessive. It even sacrifices itself to save his life. Thing is, Ultron-tech is derived from Ultron, a killer robot with a personality based on the brain waves of its creator, scientist Henry Pym (who happens to be Tony Stark's teammate on the Avengers). Taking this to the inevitable, horrifying conclusion, does this mean Hank Pym is secretly, obsessively in love with Tony Stark?
** Ultron's personality is BASED on Hank Pym's brainwaves, and does not contain Hank's memories. Without those memories, there is no way to draw the conclusion that Hank is in love with Tony. However, Hank IS jealous, abusive, and generally obsessive, as well as petty. But similar to Hank, when the chips are down and it's truly important, the Ultron-Iron suit gave its life to save Tony, as Hank has demonstrated with Wasp in the past. In reality, this makes the Ultron-tech fridge horror, because of the fact that any machine could become a possessive and abusive figure in a person's life... imagine your computer, [[SecretKeeper that holds ALL your porn and ALL your secrets]]. You haven't been paying enough attention to it, and now it's jealous. [[LoveMakesYouEvil Guess what it'll do?]]
* Marvel continuity in the wake of ''New Avengers'' v. 2 -- DoctorStrange gives the office and artifacts of "Sorcerer Supreme" over to Brother Voodoo... who promptly gets them destroyed along with himself. But there are still EldritchAbominations out there who would love to turn Earth in a torture-filled theme park -- and no Sorcerer Supreme with the capacity to stop them.

In reality, this makes the Ultron-tech fridge horror, because of the fact that any machine could become a possessive and abusive figure in a person's life... imagine your computer, [[SecretKeeper that holds ALL your porn and ALL your secrets]]. * For ''JLAActOfGod'', it was bad enough when WonderWoman was [[CharacterDerailment portrayed]] as so distraught over the loss of her powers that she [[DrivenToSuicide contemplates suicide]]. It gets even worse when you see the ending and realize [[spoiler:Diana was '''pregnant''' at the time]]. Even [[AtopTheFourthWall Linkara]] missed this until a viewer pointed it out, and his reaction was pure Fridge Horror.

*** The Joker has acted on this multiple times, trying to suicide by Batman just to get Batman to compromise his morals. going with the Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation character interpretation]] maybe he doesn't want Batman dead maybe he wants the most moral person in Gotham to become a villain to prove his point. It is all just a game to him. of course it depends on the writer.

\"good\" to \"goo\" in the Ben Reily/Spiderman section.

** Similarly, the final fate of Ben Reilly: in order to show fans that Ben was a clone all along, it was decided that Ben wouldn't just die but die horribly via disintegrating into a puddle of goo in his last moments of life, even though it had been firmly established that Jackyl's clones only disintegrate into good after a long period of time.

** Apparently, if you use Subspace in a special way, [[spoiler: you can alter someone's memories.]]
** Where do people go when they die? And when they materialize into coins, are they [[AndIMustScream aware of this?]]

** Adding support to that implication, when [[spoiler: Scott]] was murdered, [[spoiler: his sister]] didn't call police or ambulance. She just called [[spoiler:their mother]] to report his demise.

I added a case of Fridge Horror.

* The fate of Mary Jane's pregnancies count: drugged and forced to miscarry, with the implication being made that the baby MIGHT have survived and was now in the custody of Norman Osborn (Spider-Man's arc enemy) and (due to ExecutiveMeddling) the storyline ended up with the baby's namesake (Aunt May, in a stroke-induced coma) instead being Norman's hostage instead! Oh and this child got erased from existence by One More Day! That's not all though, during One More Day itself, it's revealed that Mary Jane is pregnant again!
