* UncannyValley: At one point, Mr. Ishiguro experiences an odd form of this. When he leaves his hotel to meet with the Chief, he is greeted by a cop with a steaming cup of tea who informs him the Chief will receive him in a few minutes. While pleased at the efficiency, he notes he didn't tell anyone where he was going. The cop tells him that his car noted his intention to visit the police station and called to give them a heads up and prepare them for his arrival. Ishiguro notes how smooth, efficient, and slightly creepy the whole incident is.

** A rather unusual form InUniverse. When Mr. Ishiguro decides to swing by the police station and talk to the Chief in hopes of recovering Clippy, he's greeted at the entrance by a cop, who offers him a cup of tea and tells him the Chief will be with him in thirty seconds. When asked how he knew Mr. Ishiguro was dropping by, the cop explains Mr. Ishiguro's car contacted the station, allowing them the chance to better adjust both their schedules and the tea. Ishiguro thinks to himself it's both very smooth and efficient, with a minimum of wasted time... but he still finds it a little bit unsettling.
** Tess comments on the difference between a physical Valley and a mental one, noting that no matter how different Florence may physically be from Winston, mentally she's very much human.
