* MacGuffinPersonReveal: In the movie ''Mask of Light'', Takua believes he must find the Toa of Light and spends the movie searching Mata Nui for them, only to discover [[spoiler:that his destiny is to become the Toa of Light himself]].

* DemotedToExtra: Weird example as the toy line progressed. For example, certain pieces, such as the Bohrok-Kal shields and Vezon's head/Mask of Life hybrid piece, became body and shoulder armor for Malixos. Probably done so that LEGO wouldn't have to make entirely new molds for ''every single new set''.

* ScarabPower: One of the weapons of [[GodIsGood Mata Nui]] when he is on Bara Manga is a the Scarabax Shield, made from a Scarabax Beetle he named Click. During ''[[TheMovie Bionicle: The Legend Reborn]]'', numerous Scarbax beetles created a massive being ([[{{Cameo}} that looked exactly like the Glatorian Malum]]) to scare off many Skrall.

* BossRemix: ** In ''Matoran Adventures'', the music that plays during the Kuma-Nui boss battle is a remix of the Le-Wahi level music. In an unusual instance of this trope, the Kuma-Nui is the boss of the Ta-Wahi level, not the Le-Wahi level (whose own boss, the Muaka, simply uses the same music as the first half of the Po-Wahi level). ** In the PC/console version of ''The Game'', the Gahlok/Tahnok battle music is a remix of the main Ko-Wahi theme, and the Lerahk battle music is part of the Onu-Wahi level's ThemeAndVariationsSoundtrack. ** In the PC/console version of ''BIONICLE Heroes'', Vezok's battle music is a remix of the Vezok's Coastline battle music, Thok's battle music is part of the Thok's Mountain ThemeAndVariationsSoundtrack, and Vezon's battle music is a remix of the game's main theme.

Added DiffLines:
* ThemeAndVariationsSoundtrack: No ''BIONICLE'' game has featured this sort of soundtrack from beginning to end (even if they do have recurring main themes), but the Onu-Wahi level of ''The Game'' and the Thok's Mountain levels of ''BIONICLE Heroes'' each feature a unique melody that is remixed throughout the main, battle, and boss music tracks.[[note]]While other levels in these games may feature variations on melodies, these are the only two levels to feature a single theme with variations in every music track. For example, in ''The Game'', Ta-Wahi's main and battle music tracks are variations on the same theme, but the boss theme is a different melody.[[/note]]

* UnreliableCanon: Making sense of the early year's stories can be a pain, especially since the first official novel decided to blatantly contradict much of the story material released priorly. The brand also suffers from multiple cases of AdvertisingOnlyContinuity, tons of ads, animations, mini-comics and games are non-canon, and there are just plain old [[ContinuitySnarl continuity issues]]. You can only get a decent sense of a consistent storyline by reading the Wiki's summaries.

* BuiltWithLego: Well duh, [[CaptainObvious it's a LEGO toy line.]] (But also subverted - with the exception of a few playsets, ''BIONICLE'' uses specialized pieces based on the TECHNIC line instead of the standard bricks.)

* MagnetismManipulation: Toa of Magnetism [[CaptainObvious have the power to control magnetic fields]]. Gahlok-Kal and Kraata/Rahkshi of Magnetism and all Makuta have limited Magnetism powers. Skakdi of Magnetism can only access their power if they work with another Skakdi, or if they carry a weapon that allows them to focus their Magnetism power individually.

** The Matoran Ahkmou. Originally he was just a Matoran who was selling infected Kohlii balls, then during the Metru Nui saga was a major character. What [[WhatCouldHaveBenn would have reached it's logical conclusion: He was slated to be a Toa of Shadow during the Karda Nui Saga, but was cut due to time constraints]].
