A final stand-alone Wolverine film, titled ''Film/{{Logan}}'', was released in 2017.

* FeetFirstIntroduction: Yukio and Viper have these with their "badass in boots" look, as well as a ShesGotLegs intro when Viper gets out of her car at the funeral.

* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Before trying to [[spoiler: rip out the heart parasite that was supressing his healing factor]] he tells Yukio, and by extension, the audience, "You're not gonna wanna watch this part."

* ShesGotLegs: Viper has several scenes that emphasize her actress' fabulous legs. Mariko is no slouch, either, especially since this trait isn't particularly common among Japanese women.

* RemakeCameo: In the French dub, Ichirō Yashida is voiced by Bernard Tiphaine, who also voiced Beast in the 90's ''WesternAnimation/XMen'' cartoon.

* AnimeHair: Yukio. [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair Down to the color.]] Director James Marigold has expressly stated his desire was to give her a more anime appearance, hence the aforementioned AdaptationDyeJob.

* ArtisticLicenseNuclearPhysics: Yashida stares directly into the flash of an atomic bomb and suffers no ill-effects. He should have been blinded on the spot, which would have made it a lot harder to run for the well. His survival of the following explosion and radiation is somewhat more plausible, due to distance and detonation factors (an air-burst detonation leaves relatively little fallout), but still rather unlikely given he waited until the blast had practically caught up to them.

Directed by Creator/JamesMangold, the film is loosely based on Creator/ChrisClaremont and Creator/FrankMiller[='s=] acclaimed 1982 ''Wolverine'' [[ComicBook/FrankMillersWolverine mini-series]], which saw the character traveling to Japan. It is the second attempt to give Wolverine his own movie following ''Film/XMenOriginsWolverine'' to which this was originally going to be a sequel. Creator/HughJackman reprises his role as Wolverine from the ''Film/XMenFilmSeries'', and is joined by Creator/TaoOkamoto as Mariko Yashida, Creator/WillYunLee as Kenuichio Harada, Creator/HiroyukiSanada as Shingen Yashida, and Creator/RilaFukushima as Yukio.

* InNameOnly: Most of the film's characters are based from ''ComicBook/FrankMillersWolverine'' series; with some of them taken liberties to in terms of role.

* PragmaticAdaptation: The film is a loose adaptation of the Japan arc in Creator/ChrisClaremont and ComicBook/FrankMillersWolverine series, with its own spins to the characters. Viper and Yukio, {{Badass Normal}}s in the source material, are mutants here; a PoisonousPerson and a [[PsychicPowers precognitive]] respectively.

* RealityEnsues:
** Logan's injuries take their toll after his HealingFactor slows down. For one, he's much more susceptible to concussions and piercing weapons.
** Logan also gets tired and needs to rest while taking a walk with Mariko. It's established in the comics that his adamantium skeleton weighs a couple hundred pounds. Without the healing factor to repair his fatigued muscles, that's a lot of weight to carry around.
** Several of the thugs fighting Logan in their various encounters learn it's not a smart move to punch a guy in the face when he has a metal skeleton.
** [[spoiler:Building a huge mountain fortress and buying enough adamantium to build a 10-foot cyborgsuit with giant thermal-charged katanas can put even a major corporation in serious financial debt.]]

* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Wolverine standing in the cold rain after he and Mariko are stuck in a LoveHotel is ''very'' easy to see as him taking a cold shower.

* ThereIsOnlyOneBed: Logan and Mariko are on the run from Yakuza thugs when Logan suddenly declares they'll hold up in the nearest hotel. Unfortunately it turns out to be a love hotel and there aren't any empty rooms adjacent to each other. Mariko asks where he's going to sleep; Logan says curtly, "I won't" and stands outside in the rain, [[GettingCrapPastTheRadar presumably his version of taking a cold shower]].

* ZettaiRyouiki: Yukio has a grade B when she first confronts Logan in the beginning.

* PreMortemOneLiner: [[spoiler:"You brought me back to say goodbye. SAYONARA!"]]

* YourCheatingHeart: While Mariko is missing, Noburo Mori's [[AThreesomeIsHot partying with hookers]], something that greatly angers Logan. [[spoiler:Although it's more because this behavior reveals that he's involved in the plot against his fiancée.]]

* TheTheTitle: ''The Wolverine''.

* IAintGotTimeToBleed: Unless the wound is fatal, most characters will shrug off injuries and fight on without any detriments to their skill. Although in Wolverine's case, once he has time to rest, his wounds will catch up to him.

* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Before trying to [[spoiler: rip out the parasite that was supressing his healing factor]] he tells Yukio, "You're not gonna want to watch this part," which could double as a warning to the audience.

* ProphecyTwist: Yukio predicts Logan will die with his heart on his hand. She's never wrong. [[spoiler:Logan does ''die'' (in medical terms: his heart stops functioning for an extended period of time) with his "heart" on his hand, ''but'' his healing factor kicks back in soon thereafter and he is able to return to the land of the living.]]

* CorruptPolitician: Noburo Mori, Minister of Justice, is doing nothing to enforce justice. Instead he's trying to bumb off his finance and fooling around with prostitutes.

* RedMist: In the Extended Edition, during the village battle sequence, Yukio arrives early and hops in a snowblower. The result is several unfortunate ninja being reduced to this, or LudicrousGibs. This is also one of the reasons why the Extended Edition got an unrated rating.
