The moment they jump the barricades, the battle is all but lost.

On film only. Believers actually widely identify the pharaoh as having come from the 18th dynasty but good luck finding any agreement on who it is supposed to be.

** Putting aside the fact that the Exodus may or may not be real history and that the ten plagues are a not a feature of Egyptian mythology, the pharaoh of the Exodus (if it did happen) has been widely identified as Ramesses II and the beginning of the movie has Seti I as the pharaoh killed, who is the father of Ramesses II. This makes the first part of the movie take place before the time of the theoretically historical Exodus.

** When Rick and Jonathan first open Imhotep's sarcophagus, his wet corpse jerks out and catches everyone by surprise, with Evy angrily noting she "hates it when they do that." Though the fear is quickly replaced with disgust and confusion on why he looks "juicy" rather than dry as dust.

* TruthInTelevision: When the Americans tell the protagonists they can dry Imhotep out and burn him for firewood, apparently not showing much concern about possibly destroying an important historical figure, this was during the era where finding a mummy was so common that people actually used them for very mundane things, such as the squicky fact that butchers would use their wrappings as ''butchers paper to wrap meat in'' and people had unwrapping parties where a man would publicly unwrap a mummy for audiences and friends.

** The initial journey to Hamunaptra takes several days, including journeying by river boat and camel. After they awaken the mummy, the Americans and O'Connell's team manage to flee back to Cairo in a single day. Given that they were being chased by an unkillable abomination, they were probably hauling ass like nobody's business.

After they awaken the mummy, the Americans and O'Connell's team manage to flee back to Cairo in a single day. Given that they were being chased by an unkillable abomination, they were probably hauling ass like nobody's business. Also, they set out with large amounts of supplies, not knowing how long it would take them to find Hamunaptra or how long they would stay there. Going back, they know exactly where to go and are only taking the bare essentials.

Set circa early [[TheRoaringTwenties 1920s]], it features proficient historian Evelyn Carnahan (Creator/RachelWeisz) and her older brother, lazy archaeologist Jonathan Carnahan (Creator/JohnHannah) on a quest to find the lost city of Hamunaptra, City of the Dead, said to be the hiding place for the wealth of ancient Egypt. Enlisting the help of former legionnaire Rick O'Connell (Creator/BrendanFraser), they inevitably end up accidentally releasing--and then having to stop--a mummy named Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), a former Egyptian priest who was condemned to a hellish immortality, and once awakened unleashes the ten Biblical plagues upon Egypt.
