* KubrickStare: Leeloo gives one to General Munro, before she [[spoiler: punches through the unbreakable glass, knocks him out while snatching away his card and finally escapes the lab.]]
* KnightInSourArmor: A minor trope; Korben would rather not be saving the world, but living a nice peaceful life driving his cab instead.

* AssholeVictim: While being wrongfully arrested, kidnapped by Mangalores, and having his identity stolen is pitiable, one has a hard time feeling sorry for Korben's neighbor when his response to the police ordering him to follow instructions is to obnoxiously tell them to screw off.

* PopculturalOsmosis: Flying cars in canyons from ''Film/BladeRunner'', but possibly also from the ''Métal Hurlant'' comics of which Luc Besson is inordinately fond. To the point of hiring ''Métal Hurlant'' artists as designers, as noted above.

%%* WaifFu: And another Leeloo trope. We are not at home to Mr. Newton, no sir.

to:

%%* * VoluntaryShapeshifting: The Mangalores can impersonate humans by shaking their heads vigorously side-to-side and babbling; they can't change the clothes they are wearing and they sometimes don't get the voices of the people they are impersonating right. It's not clear if the Mangalore posing as a human woman at the airport was actually female, or if this ability of the Mangalores is physiological or technological; it's awfully convenient for them, but they're so stupid it would make sense to assume this is either Zorg's technology, or a natural ability of their species. It's also not clear if it works for impersonating other species, or whether they can impersonate specific individual humans for infiltration (we never see them do this), or if the ability is limited to blending in the background using a generic human appearance.

* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: At least some of the drama could've been avoided if Vito Cornelius had let Zorg choke to death on his cherry. But he has a conscience, so he couldn't let even a clearly evil and unscrupulous person die.
