Why bother spoilering the part that isn't really a spoiler and leaving the actual spoiler uncovered?
* ATasteOfTheirOwnMedicine: Dredd executes the BigBad in the way the three rival dealers at the start of the film were killed, giving a dose of Slo-Mo just before a DestinationDefenestration, [[spoiler:though he leaves out the FlayingAlive part.]]

* RedHerring: You might think that Slo-Mo, with its ability to induce incredible BulletTime vision in the user, would be used at ''some'' point in the film by someone on either side of the conflict to give them a possible edge in a firefight. You'd be wrong.

* BottomlessMagazines: Averted - the film makes a point of highlighting what a major concern this would be even for Dredd in a lockdown situation. Once he realizes they're trapped, he tells Anderson to conserve ammunition, and as the movie goes on, a major source of drama is his dwindling ammunition. [[spoiler: Luckily, after four corrupt Judges make an appearance at Ma-Ma's request, Dredd is armed to the teeth for the final conflict]].

* CloserToEarth: Initially played straight with Anderson, who's portrayed as caring considerably more about people than Dredd and then subverted over the course of the film, although she's still able to convince Dredd that [[spoiler: letting Clan Techie go]] is the right thing to do.

* TheDreaded: Appropriately, [[PunnyName Dredd]] fits this trope, at least within the Justice Department. The knowledge that Dredd is in Peach Trees is enough reason [[spoiler: for [[DirtyCop Judge Lex]]]] to demand a million-credit bounty. That said, he's not as [[MemeticBadass known and feared]] by the general populace as he is in the comics.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Dredd shows himself to be this with the vagrant living outside of Peach Trees, giving him until Dredd and Anderson come back out with their perp to clear out instead of spending months in jail. The hobo doesn't move, but Dredd does say "I gave you a warning, get up." He also prevents Kay from being executing under a 99% chance that he is the murderer. He also allows Anderson's [[spoiler: sparing of Clan Techie, in light of her explanation]]. As noted previously, Dredd is as ruthless as he ''needs'' to be, and not an ounce more.

** As much as Ma-Ma tries to be DangerouslyGenreSavvy, she fails on several points. Her overreaction to Kay's capture by both locking down the building and using gatling guns, rouse Dredd's suspicions as to how important Kay really is, thus allowing Dredd and Anderson to discover that information along with the fact [[spoiler: it lets the judges communicate with the outside, and it wrecks a lot of her hacker's connections]].. She routinely abuses the Clan Techie even though, as far as we know, he is literally their only computer expert on staff. Given the chance, he gives up the code to her safe room to save his hide. She [[spoiler: hires corrupt Judges to take out Dredd after her own men prove inadequate, but this just serves to provide Dredd with more ammo]]. As the doctor points out in the beginning, Ma-Ma [[WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer only solves her problems with violence]].

Reality Ensues isn't "This movie is more realistic than this other movie"
** For the movie, the [[ImpracticallyFancyOutfit flashy Judges' uniforms]] were toned down and made more realistic and like RealLife police gear than in the comics and the 1995 film. The [[CoolBike lawmasters]] were redesigned as well to be properly functional, as in the original film they were very difficult to steer. ** Compare and contrast the techniques that [[Film/JudgeDredd Stallone's Dredd]] used to clear a room to the tactics Karl Urban's Dredd used in this film. Stallone came down from the floor above by shooting the floor and stood in doorways while firing [[note]]In real life Close Quarters Battle this is sometimes referred to as "The coffin" as doing it increases your chances of being killed or wounded. Standing in a doorway silhouettes the person as a target and while in a doorway your movement is restricted as well.[[/note]] and generally relied on RuleOfCool. In this film, Dredd uses gas, entry explosives, flash bangs, and realistic tactics when clearing rooms. ** The HeroicBuild trope is defied here in favour of Dredd having a leaner, more realistic physique.
