* RealityEnsues: Just because the heroes saved the day, that doesn't mean they're suddenly off the hook for [[spoiler: wrecking parts of the school in their pursuit of Nopony.]]
** After putting up flyers all around town for the titular Hero Club, the trio is surprised when they don't start immediately getting customers, and moreso that they need a permit to even ''start'' such a business.

Added DiffLines:

* FreeRangeChildren: While the trio has ''some'' supervision, they are mostly left to their own devices, starting their business and taking on jobs all by themselves.

Added DiffLines:

* KidDetective: All three of the protagonists are forced to become these right from the getgo to solve the Nopony case. As well as...
* KidHero: It's the entire premise of the story after all.

Added DiffLines:

* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: All across the board. Gusty is prone to extreme fits of violence, Snake is a pickpocket, Boomer spends her free time making explosives, and these are just the ''heroes''.

* OrphanageOfFear: One of the club's various gigs is to visit one of these. Although the orphanage itself seems pretty nice, they are searching for a bully tormenting the foals and thus creating this kind of atmosphere.

* ViolenceReallyIsTheAnswer: When faced with the problem of how to deal with an EvilOrphanageLady who has the foals she's tormenting too afraid to speak out against her, Gusty's solution is to just beat the crap out of her and toss her on their client's desk. It works.

* AnIcePerson: Snowmare's "superpower" seems to be control over ice.

* ChekhovsGunman: In the first chapter, Gusty witnesses a young colt being rescued from an accident by Snowmare. Two chapters later, it's revealed this colt was [[spoiler: Nutshell, a student missing from school that day who they now need to get in touch with. And two chapters after ''that'', he's revealed to be the son of Pepper and Wonderbread, and the impetus for the latter to become Nopony.]]
* DestinationDefenestration: A rare hero-on-hero example when [[spoiler: Gusty [[FastballSpecial throws an unwitting Snake]] through an open window to nail Nopony.]]
* EtiquetteNazi: Daffodil makes it very clear upfront that she expects certain standards from her new houseguest, whether it be formal manners or fulfilling the terms of her probation to the letter.

* IncomingHam: Dr. Maelstrom, announcing his intention to rob a bank by blowing open a wall and shouting, "EVERYPONY ON THE GROUND! NOW!" This would be pretty standard for a bank robbery if he didn't ''always'' talk like that.

* NoIndoorVoice: Dr. Maelstrom, who spends his entire speaking role using all caps.

* RedHerring: [[spoiler: Pepper Spray.]]

* BecauseImGoodAtIt: Snake steals from other ponies partially [[spoiler: to support her sick mother]] and partially because it's the only talent she can really use to make money.

* EstablishingCharacterMoment:
** Gusty's opening monologue establishes that she is frightened of new situations, has a history of violence, and is harboring some big secret.
** When Boomer comes in, she immediately snarks on Gusty's appearance, but shows her reasonable side by being understandably concerned about a convicted criminal coming to stay with them.
** Snake Eyes introduces herself to Gusty by attempting to ''rob her'' and [[JustJokingJustification passing it off as a joke]], quickly establishing her thieving skills, playful attitude, and general lack of tact.

* UnfortunateNames: Snake Eyes' real name is revealed to be [[spoiler: Cookie Cream.]] It's a source of great embarrassment for her.

* DeadpanSnarker: Boomer, who has some kind of quip to drop for any given situation, especially in regards to Gusty.
* DestinationDefenestration: A rare hero-on-hero example when [[spoiler: Gusty [[FastballSpecial throws an unwitting Snake]] through an open window to nail Nopony.]]
* DramaQueen: Gusty at times. Boomer even pokes fun at her for being a crybaby.

* EurekaMoment: Boomer has one when she realizes that [[spoiler: Snake's blackmail letter]] uses her real name, which only a small list of ponies know. This becomes their main clue going into the case.
* FirstPersonSmartass: Boomer is relatively polite on the outside, a ''ruthless'' snarker on the inside.

* AfraidOfTheirOwnStrength: Gusty is. And given that she once [[spoiler: crippled a stallion in a fit of possessive rage]], she has every right to be.

* BlindedByRage: Is implied to be a frequent problem with Gusty, and the reason she ended up on probation in the first place. [[spoiler: During one such instance, she was so enraged that she broke all four of a stallion's legs over the Hero Book.]]

* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Gusty suffers from this despite not having many actual heroics to her name yet. The Hero Book is a big inspiration for this attitude.

* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: Gusty, who aspires to be somepony like those she looks up to in the Hero Book. Beginning the story as a juvenile delinquent, she has some difficulties trying to find a purpose that matches those ideals.

* GlassCannon: Gusty is very strong, [[UnstoppableRage especially when angered]], but not very durable and has a tendency of injuring herself if she hits with too much force.

* GrievousHarmWithABody: Once Gusty gets mad enough at Nopony, she throws the closest thing on-hoof directly at them. [[spoiler: This just so happens to be Snake Eyes.]]

** Also GreatDetective Pure Luck, which Snake lampshades.
* UnstoppableRage: When Gusty gets angry enough, she goes completely insane with rage and single-mindedly pursues the target of her anger, regardless of who or what is in her way.

* AffablyEvil: Nopony's blackmail letters are ''exceedingly'' polite, sympathizing with the victims even while demanding monetary payment from them. They even wish Gusty [[spoiler: a speedy recovery]] and choose not to demand bits from her despite having the leverage to do so, only asking for her silence instead.

* AnonymousKillerNarrator: Nopony, when [[spoiler: breaking into Snake's room]] in Chapter 2.

* {{Blackmail}}: Nopony's MO. [[spoiler: Them doing this to Snake Eyes sets off the main plot.]]

* TheFaceless: Nopony, who wears a low-brim hat, black balaclava, and sunglasses to completely hide their face. Gusty can't even tell what ''gender'' they are.

* HiddenVillain: Nopony, as finding their identity becomes the main focus for the trio after finding the first blackmail letter.

* LostInTransmission: Snake attempting to send an important message to Gusty over a crappy radio.
-->'''What Snake says''': Gusty, listen! [[spoiler: Pepper is not Nopony!]] We can't continue the plan! Abort now!
-->'''What Gusty hears''': Gusty, listen! [[spoiler: Pepper is...Nopony!]] We can...continue...plan...now!

Added DiffLines:

* AmusingInjuries: Subverted. The ChaseFight between Gusty and Nopony involves quite a bit of slapstick that would normally be PlayedForLaughs, with Gusty crashing through fences, getting sidelined by a carriage, and eventually ramming through a ''brick wall'', [[spoiler: but it actually caused some pretty serious injuries once the adrenaline wore off.]]

Added DiffLines:

* MoodWhiplash. In chapter 1 and most of chapter 2, Gusty is making friends and her situation is slowly improving. Then, when they leave the room for a moment, Snake's window opens. Everything goes downhill from there.
