* AccompliceByInaction: Seraphine initially believes Simon to be doing this about Dante.

* ActuallyPrettyFunny: Technoblade nicknames the Armor of the Rising Sun "Clout Armor", which Seraphine begrudgingly smiles at while noting Simon would get a kick out of it.

* ArcWelding:

** Refraction makes a small cameo as the one the [=NPCs=] vote as best dressed at the Rebellion afterparty.
** Former Mayor Faith also makes an appearance, if only to foist off work onto Seraphine.

* DefrostingIceQueen: Seraphine is one, being less than trusting towards everyone around her apart from Simon.

* EveryoneHasStandards: Seraphine bluntly notes that even if Dream was or is a bad guy, he doesn't deserve to have soul-shatteringly damaging torture inflicted upon them.

* GenkiGirl: Seraphine's own [[ItMakesSenseInContext magic]] is one.

* GeniusBonus: 4114205, the tag of [[spoiler: the Parasite, is "Dante" run through an Alphabet Cipher]].

* GodIsNeutral: Or rather, the Admins are. Seraphine does ask Simon about what he wants to do about Technoblade and Dream being stuck on their island, to which Simon simply comments his amusement to the result before telling her that they're responsible for getting out of their own mess.

* TheHeart: Seraphine's magic and her existence serves as the Boat to rescue those needing aid around her. Together with Simon they serve as the lighthouse and boat combo.

* InstantRunes: The [=/killdante=] command, to the Admins, is a runic command. [[ChekhovsGun This means that anyone can execute it]].

* IWarnedYou: Simon promises that if his decisions go wrong, Seraphine is welcome to tell him this. The latter is more than happy to accept this deal.

* LittleMissSnarker: Seraphine fits the bill, given the actual age of Skyblock. Much of her commentary involves snarking at the people around her which bounces off Dream and Technoblade really well. Simon acknowledges and respects such.

* TheMaker: Simon Hypixel is this and UltimateBlacksmith according to Seraphine's read of his soul.

* MyCountryRightOrWrong: Seraphine is this to Skyblock, her home. Regardless of what her own personal desires are she will do her duty which she reminds Simon.

* PluckyGirl: Seraphine is one, and with the amount of crap that goes her way it's hard not to notice it.

* PowerIncontinence: Seraphine is struck by such right as she is exiled from her post by Dante. Much of her story revolves around her perceived weakness and inability to be morally correct. The truth is far more sinister. [[spoiler: As Simon Hypixel himself discovers, Dante had attached himself parasitically off of her magical connection in a downplayed form of the PuppeteerParasite]].

* SavedByCanon: Seraphine is going to survive no worse for the wear because of the events of the Skyblock Resistance Movement and Uprising.

* SideBet: As the story concludes, Simon turns to Seraphine and simply states that he gives them a month before returning from the [=DreamSMP=].

* SoulPower: Seraphine is able to handle the souls of dead players and administration of their respawning, including recognizing lingering injuries death itself does not cure.
** Technoblade's soul is icy blue, with grand contradictions; Cold with the Heat of battle, full of a quiet humming like lonely winds upon a tundra, chorusing with the ringing of carillons for good or ill, and gave off a sacred uniqueness. While it fought tooth and nail for what it believed to be right, it also gave a welcoming feeling of home.
** Dream's soul is damaged. It's heavily implied that the injuries inflicted upon him by Quackity in Pandora's Vault is responsible. Beneath the damage lies a green soul, illustrative of song of nature - the good, bad, and in-between. Moreover, his soul itself is TheAtoner.
** Simon Hypixel's soul is a strange and vast place of ochre light. It sparkled like the stars and was dense like one too, powerful, bright, and able to fill a room with its burning radiance. Any dealings with his Magic also always left the taste of metal in the mouth, most notably of keys and coins.
** Averted with Seraphine herself and the [=NPCs=], who don't have souls. What they are, is pure Magic.

* TerriblePickUpLines: "So... You come here often?" Said by Technoblade, to ''Seraphine''. And no, he was not trying to pick up Seraphine.

* Troll: Simon is this, to basically everybody. The reason why he appears ominously to Dream following the Uprising? According to Seraphine, that's what he's like when he's ''bored''. He does the "mysterious ominous man" thing just to mess with people.

**Dream's garment he buys is a chlamys, not a shawl. The clasp for the chlamys is a fibula.

* LaResistance: The rebellion against [[spoiler:Dante]].

** Former mayor Seraphine is this, BeleagueredBureaucrat, and CloudcuckoolandersMinder to all of Hypixel Skyblock.

* ShellShockedVeteran: Technoblade's reason that he can empathize with Dream's imprisonment. Despite how much he had fought, he was unable to keep himself from worrying about his friends being killed or turning against him. He brings up the idea that only after the fight is over that the brain manages to catch up and throw nightmares at you, as a sort of system that's only trying to keep you safe.

** In universe, Technoblade groans when Seraphine tells him the rebellion is democratically elected and bets her that their choice sucks. Seraphine simply smiles and agrees with his assessment, before revealing that he's their top choice.

** On a Meta level, immediately before Dream's [[spoiler:HeroicBSOD in Chapter 6, Technoblade's name is misspelt as Technobalde. The author found this funny and left it in]].

Added DiffLines:

* BearyFriendly: Similar to Polar Bear Steve in [=DreamSMP=] canon, Polar Bear Baba is very friendly. It is pointed out however that he does give a look that [[BearsAreBadNews "(he) could kill (Ranboo) if he wanted to"]] as a reminder that bears are still dangerous.

* BenevolentConspiracy: How the Syndicate is portrayed.

Added DiffLines:

* DeadlyEuphemism: Played for laughs. When Phil calls Technoblade for the first time after the breakout, Dream answers. When asked where Techno is, Dream replies that he is indisposed. Only after Phil gives a BigWhat does he realize what it sounded like and hastily corrects himself by pointing out Techno was on the roof.

Added DiffLines:

** Ranboo and Phil have a discussion in Chapter 8 which concludes with the older man's worry of what Dream could have done in a week. Cut to Dream and Technoblade building a house and bantering over the shack Dream had built previously on Techno's property.

Added DiffLines:

* RightBehindMe: A variation of such appears in Chapter 8. Phil and Ranboo, having just [[spoiler: finished calling Technoblade and Dream, hang up the comlink]]. Ranboo then notices the door is open from the wind blowing in, and turns to see an amused and disappointed Niki Nihachu framed in the doorway.

Saving more tropes for chapter 7.

* AcceptableBreaksFromReality: Dream and Technoblade [[spoiler: logging into Hypixel Skyblock together and not instantly being mobbed by hundreds of fans and haters would not fit very well into a story on redemption]]. The story handwaves this by pointing out too many people cosplay as them for people to recognize them.

AnAesop: Three such morals. The original Fables even gets a shout-out as one of the books Techno’s reading!

* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler: While Dream is no hero at this point, the [[TropesAreFlexible trope still applies]] to his moment in Chapter 6 when he realizes that no matter what he did, he couldn't escape his past.]]

* NoSocialSkills: Informed attribute of Technoblade (stemming from the real Technoblade) as he is very capable of socializing (albeit with limited numbers of people) in story.

* PlotArmor: Discussed. Technoblade notes that TommyInnit has an inordinate amount of it by chapter 6, and honestly considers congratulating Dream on punching right through and sending the boy six feet under.

* TheAce: Technoblade. He serves as both the rival and the mentor to Dream during his exile to Hypixel Skyblock. Due to all of his previous exploits [[Crossover being made canon to this fic]], he’s almost more hyped up than he is in the main [=DreamSMP=] storyline. He’s also keenly aware of Dream’s situation and is responsible for multiple occasions where he helps Dream deal with his own inner demons. It definitely helps that he almost majored in psychology. His MemeticBadass status is definitely well-earned here.

* ActuallyPrettyFunny: Ranboo, after hearing that Technoblade and Philza broke Dream out of prison, starts panicking. The latter then explains that they didn't let him go free; they trapped him [[spoiler: in Hypixel Skyblock with Technoblade]]. Ranboo immediately starts crying of laughter.
** Later on Dream suggests using bone meal, not for speeding up the growth of a tree or for getting food, but to grow some grass and flowers. Technoblade finds this hilarious as it doesn't fit the image of a BigBad.

* ArcWords: The best kind of prisons are those you don’t want to leave.

to:

** Dream being homeless. This becomes a BrickJoke when he builds his first house in the sky.

* CallToAgriculture: Technoblade and Dream, farming in the sky.

Added DiffLines:

* ChekhovsSkill: Phil offhandedly brews some tea for a worried Ranboo in Chapter 3. Techno eventually does the same for Dream, claiming it as Phil's tradition. [[spoiler:It's eventually revealed that the tradition is Techno's.]]

* ControlFreak: Just like in canon, Dream starts off as being one. He mellows out after a while.

* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: In contrast to Quackity's routine bouts of torture which does nothing but hurt a broken man, [[spoiler: Exiling Dream to Skyblock]] actually serves to reform him.

Added DiffLines:

* FateWorseThanDeath: Techno threatens Dream that should he deem the latter to be too damaging towards his ideals of freedom, [[IllKillYou he'll kill him]]. Dream nervously points out that neither of them can be killed. Techno, undaunted, simply smiles and changes his threat to this.

Added DiffLines:

* KangarooCourt: Technoblade wants to avert this with Dream. Perhaps because of his own past he believes in due process.

Added DiffLines:

* MeaningfulName: Having reflected upon the naming of Pandora's Vault, Technoblade provides the name, Hope, for the flower that Dream takes care of.

Added DiffLines:

* NotSoDifferent: Technoblade to Dream, as part of his motivation on why he did what he did after breaking him out of prison.

Added DiffLines:

* PrisonsAreGymnasiums: Averted. The long months did their number on Dream.

Added DiffLines:

* ShoutOut: [[WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra That’s your problem, you were thinking.]]

Added DiffLines:

* SpottingTheThread: Ranboo of all people manages to deduce that Technoblade and Philza broke Dream out of prison, confronting the latter with the evidence that Techno's Dream mask was the one used in the breakout as it is conspicuously absent from his trophy wall.

Added DiffLines:

* Tsundere: Dream, to Hope the Dandelion at first. Technoblade manages to drag him out of it immediately by [[ArmorPiercingQuestion asking him if he could step on it]]. Dream is notably [[BigNo horrified by the idea]]. Techno later uses this to tease him by claiming he'll kill the flower if Dream doesn't get up in the morning.

Added DiffLines:

* WarriorTherapist: Technoblade for Dream. In fact, some of their practice duels have therapy woven into them. Due to sharing similar problems, the therapy also works for Technoblade himself. He's able to deduce Dream's problems and lure him into having practice duels, something Dream picks up on after they conclude.

Adding a ton of tropes. Can't proofread for now.

An epic fic with a planned total of 41 chapters, it uses a veritable deluge of ContinuityPorn featuring familiar characters from Technoblade’s stories told from the perspective of those walking by his side. The setting varies between lighthearted banter and exploration of dark topics covered by the original canon, yet feels like a truly lifelike continuation of what could have happened had Minecraft been more advanced. As it dives into the implications of dealing with a tyrant, the story makes a convincing argument for rehabilitation rather than punishment.

It's [[JustifiedTrope justified]] because, nothing can survive Withers, not even successor prisons were able to do so. Moreover, it's being attacked by [[CoolOldGuy Philza]] and [[TheDreaded Technoblade]].

* DoYouTrustMe: Technoblade asking Phil this kicks off the plot.

* IdiotBall: Like in canon, the Warden doesn't seem to realize how deadly his prisoner really is despite having created a highly advanced prison for the sole purpose of keeping him there.

* IGaveMyWord: Technoblade's favor is not something he takes lightly. That said, he has plenty of wriggle room on just what to do with Dream after he's broken him out. After all, [[ExactWords he only requested to be broken out]].

* IgnoredExpert: Tommy, knowing Dream will eventually escape with Technoblade's help, tries begging for Dream to be KilledOffForReal. Unfortunately for him, his pleas fall on deaf ears. to:

* OutsideContextProblem: Dream is a capable player, able to single handedly terrorize dozens of others on the [=DreamSMP=] given the slightest amount of time to prepare. Unfortunately for him, Technoblade knows that the below exists:

* PercussiveTherapy: Dream, having been put into essentially another prison, doesn't take it too well. He begins doing everything he can with as much violence as he can muster. He avoids becoming BlindedByRage however, and still listens to Technoblade's advice when it's applicable.

HilarityEnsues as the two rivals begin their long journey home, not helped in the least by how much Dream wants to turn Techno into a bacon sandwich.

Added DiffLines:

* TrueCompanions: The Syndicate. Overlaps with FireForgedFriends.

* UndyingLoyalty: Philza (and to a slightly lesser extent, the Syndicate) to Techno, and vice-versa.

Added DiffLines:

* WellIntentionedExtremist: Techno believes Dream to be one, someone who's fallen off the slippery slope and ended up in prison for it. He notes that while Tommy had pointed out Dream was a ManipulativeBastard, all he himself saw was a very tired, very misguided soul.

[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/30071451/ The Extradition]] is an ongoing WebVideo/DreamSMP Fanfiction story written by [[https://archiveofourown.org/users/Onelituli/pseuds/Onelituli Onelituli]], covering a What-If universe where instead of breaking Dream out and leaving him to his own devices, resident mastermind Technoblade decides to exile him to Hypixel Skyblock in the hopes of securing a fair trial for the man.

Things are not all they seem as the world they left behind wrests with the power vacuum left in their absence. With Philza Minecraft as their only means of return, they begin a journey of atonement and healing even as the shadow of darker threats hang overhead.

*AdaptationalBadass: [[spoiler:Skeppy. The fic even makes a point to note that he was skilled, just that he also fumbled a lot and made up for it by blatantly cheating. Here he manages to duel two of the three most skilled fighters, Technoblade and Sapnap, and nearly come out on top! How’s that for the muffinhead?]]

*AdaptedOut: [=ThirtyVirus=] doesn’t really do much during the [[spoiler: attack on Dante and his role is largely given to Dream.]]

*AmbiguouslyEvil: [[spoiler:Dante. He’s dictator who trades freedom for security, and levies [[EvilIsPetty minor taxes on everything]], but he doesn’t actively do anything that is horribly harmful until the players stage a rebellion]].

AnAesop: Three such morals. The original Fables even gets a shout-out as one of the books Techno’s reading!
** Locking someone up rather than rehabilitating them can only be destructive.
** Just because you’ve done terrible things, doesn’t mean you’re irredeemable.
** And just because you genuinely work towards a redemption, doesn’t mean the people you’ve hurt will forgive you.

*AppliedPhlebotinum: Server chats are adapted as comlinks that use ley lines. Because of such, they’re able to access other Minecraft servers when set to a particular frequency. [[spoiler: This becomes important later on, when the Egg knocks out all forms of communication by damaging the ley lines.]]

*AttackItsWeakPoint: Dream and the Syndicate figure out almost too late that [[spoiler: the Egg has a taproot, meaning that for all their efforts in destroying the Egg’s tendrils, they haven’t fully eradicated the threat.]]

*BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler: WilburSoot, ladies and gentlemen, brought back from the dead to fight against the Egg.]]

*BadLiar: Dream is a terrible liar. His attempt to bring all responsibility upon himself to shield those he cares about all but screams “I’m protecting these guys so you don’t hurt them!”

*BatmanGambit: Technoblade leaves Dream and goes to sleep in Skyblock, knowing that his desire for safety and comfort wouldn’t allow him to leave his island despite having all the resources to light the portal on the other side. [[spoiler: It’s also not necessary, as Techno knows the portal only leads to the Skyblock hub]].

*BatDeduction: Eret deduces that the hooded figures he saw help save them were Technoblade and Dream. He does this despite the fact that they haven’t been seen for a long while on the server, Phil deliberately misleading Puffy via comlink, and being at an extreme distance.

*BigDamnHeroes: The Syndicate arriving at the [=DreamSMP=]’s darkest hour [[spoiler: to crush the Egg along with Dream. The rescued aren’t too pleased with this.]]

*BlackAndGrayMorality: The Syndicate and Dream are the Gray to [[spoiler: Dante and the Egg’s Black]].

*BrokenAce: Dream. Once the administrator and undisputed ruler of the [=DreamSMP=], manhunt master, and rival to Technoblade, long months in the prison have taken a toll on his mental and physical well-being.
** To a lesser extent, Technoblade himself. He admits to having been under a lot of stress for the longest time and going through roughly the same kind of problem Dream has with his [[Pun nightmares]] once he had gotten to a relatively safe point in his life.

*CallBack: The Potato War, The 100,000 Duel, Antarctic Empire, and much more are mentioned in passing.

*DiscOneFinalBoss: [[spoiler: Dante, Mayor of Skyblock. He’s about as big a threat as he is in the original Hypixel event. Once he’s defeated he’s quickly forgotten and replaced by the much greater threat of the Egg.]]

*DoNotGoGentle: [[spoiler: Dante and the Egg put up a significant fight before they’re finally crushed by the protagonists.]]

*EasilyForgiven: Averted. While the Syndicate members are more open minded about forgiveness and letting a remorseful Dream earn their trust, other members of the SMP who’ve had a history with him aren’t so quick to forgive. Quackity in particular sees him as his ArchEnemy and [[BlackAndWhiteInsanity anyone who dares to associate with him is just as bad as he is]].
** Barring Eret, Puffy and Foolish, all of whom weren’t hurt as badly as the rest during the course of Dream and Technoblade’s attacks, everyone else wants revenge. Tommy goes as far to almost split Dream in two after the latter had just saved his life.
**This also applies to [[spoiler:Wilbur]], who is essentially a ButtMonkey. Sam bluntly tells him that nobody likes him, and nobody cares what he has to say, all of which is played for laughs.

*EnemyMine: [[spoiler: Sapnap and Technoblade against the Egg enthralled Skeppy.]]

*ExactWords: Every person on the [=DreamSMP=] has a limited number of canon lives. Hypixel Skyblock players don’t have the concept of canon lives.

*Foil: Quackity, to most of the other characters. While Dream and the members of the Syndicate have left craters of destruction in their wake, they notably don’t shy away from admitting their flaws. Quackity however, doesn’t seem to see the irony in his own crusade against them breeding a vicious cycle of revenge. For bonus points, he even covets Dream’s Revival Book!

*ForegoneConclusion: [[spoiler:Technoblade is destined to lead the rebellion to crush Dante, and to have his kill stolen by another person.]]

*GilliganCut: Tommy and Tubbo firmly agree that in his absence, Dream is up to something evil. Cut to Dream happily adopting yet another flower and bragging about it to Technoblade.

*GodIsNeutral: [[spoiler: DreamXD doesn’t really give a shit about what’s going on. Rather, it’s amused by the Egg being prematurely hatched into a small divine dragon.]]

*GodzillaThreshold: [[spoiler: Withers are considered to be this. The Syndicate weaponizes them against the Egg, as the Egg is alive and Withers only target living things.]]

*GreyAndGrayMorality: Essentially what the members of the [=DreamSMP=] have become in this fic. Most of them have committed heinous crimes, or side with people who have, allowing a terrible cycle of revenge to grow and resentment to fester.

*TheHeart: Niki Nihachu. She’s one of the first people to extend an olive branch to Dream, noting that his situation reminded her of the circumstances under which she met Technoblade. She even teaches him how to bake during his exile.

*HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Technoblade chooses to stay and make a stand against Sk-egg-py when Sapnap is downed. This nearly gets him killed as a result.]]

*HiveMind: [[spoiler: The Egg speaks through its thralls and occasionally mimics them to harm the players emotionally.]]

*Irony: Technoblade, anarchist and hater of governments, is made an elected official of Hypixel Skyblock. Dream and Phil find this immensely amusing.

*JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Technoblade. He usually means well, though his gruff demeanor and intimidating size and muscle make it hard for people to see past his tough exterior.

*LotusEaterMachine: [[spoiler: The Egg. It promises anything the user wants]].

*MadeOfIron: Like in canon, Technoblade, [[spoiler:Dante]], and [[spoiler:The Egg]].

*MassOhCrap: The server has a collective one when the sounds of Withers ring out across the night.
** Mere moments later, [[spoiler: The Egg]] triggers another one when it causes a cataclysmic earthquake that [[spoiler: knocks out the ley lines and all long distance communication.]]

*NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: The Syndicate destroy [[spoiler: the Egg]]. In return, one of them is nearly cut down in the middle of Church Prime and several other server members express their desire to see them killed.

*NotSoHarmless: Niki Nihachu. In the fic, it’s heavily implied that given enough time and training she would rival [[TheAce Technoblade]] in power and skill.

*OncePerEpisode: Before every chapter a section with short incorrect quotes are used to broadly summarize the chapter's contents.

*OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Niki threatening [[spoiler:Wilbur]] because of her pain and anguish he inflicted upon her is a far cry from her welcoming demeanor shown throughout the series.
**[[spoiler:The voices growing silent and uniting in telling Techno to run for his life is one for his entire chat. It’s telling that things are dangerous when the AxCrazy voices stop demanding blood]].

*PortalNetwork: Nether Portals can connect to anywhere including other servers as they are considered separate dimensions.

*PsychicLink: [[spoiler:Dream and Ranboo, who were once friends close enough that they linked themselves for quick communications.]]

*ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Simon Hypixel, who offers Dream a chance at redemption, as well as implicitly promises to shelter him if he is rejected.
** Eret as well, as he is one of the few members of the server who look past, the past, and suggest having a proper discussion beyond simply stabbing Dream and the Syndicate to death for their crimes.

*RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: [[spoiler: The Egg. To a lesser extent, everyone it’s corrupted.]]

*RejectedApology: Lots of them. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that crimes of destroying an entire country won’t be forgiven easily even if the destroyer has turned over a new leaf.

*RevengeBeforeReason: Quackity, Quackity, Quackity. It takes a pretty deranged individual to partner with [[spoiler:The Egg, just to bait out Dream and Technoblade.]] He doesn’t seem to realize, or care, that this partnership can only doom the server.

*SdrawkcabSpeech: [[spoiler:The Egg speaks in this way. It’s even highlighted in red text!]]

*SecurityBlanket: Dream’s Revival Book. Technoblade refers to the trope by name, noting that he wasn’t one to take away the last vestiges of control Dream still clung onto out of fear of loss.

*ShownTheirWork: Many quirks Technoblade has are highlighted in extreme detail. Unlike most portrayals of the pigman as just an invincible force of nature, this Technoblade is also quite smart and skilled in psychology (which the real Technoblade took classes in). His smarts are wholly on display as his fighting skills take a backseat.

*TakeThat: Dream’s [[spoiler: minister perks]] is called “1 in 7.5 trillion” and raises looting chances.

*TechnicianVsPerformer: As Technoblade notes, Dream’s movements in combat have that added flourish while his own are far more calculated and direct.

*TitleDrop: Purpled, who has Hypixel Skyblock newspapers delivered, asks Finnster to look into Hypixel’s Extradition laws.

*UngratefulBastard: [[spoiler: Quackity, Tommy, Tubbo, and most others have zero gratitude after Dream and the Syndicate killed the Egg. Justified, as 1. They can’t verify this, and 2. Dream and the Syndicate have committed horrible crimes in the past and were lying to the server members up until the very moment they appeared in Church Prime.]]

*UnspokenPlanGuarantee: Technoblade’s entire plan to handle Dream’s breakout. It goes off without a hitch. [[spoiler: Averted later on when the Syndicate tries the same thing on the Egg. Unfortunately, there are several spanners in the works this time around.]]

*UnwittingPawn: Quackity to [[spoiler:The Egg, who plays on his fears and hatred for Technoblade and Dream]].

*WeaksauceWeakness: Similar to how [[spoiler:Dante was killed in Hypixel Skyblock, the giant slime he becomes is easily slain by a random player who typed /killdante. This time however, Dream is the one to execute him, and just like the random player he did it by accident.]]

*TheWorfEffect: Anyone who manages to give Technoblade a hard time poses significant danger to the protagonists.
