* DumbStruck: Sora is a case of this, being a CuteMute that was kept locked up in a cell by Eneru for six years with only a cloud-cat for company.

* ElectricTorture: Hikari is subjected to this by Crocodile in Part Four of the Alabasta Arc, though he fails to break her. It's implied that he did the same to Gina.

* EntitledToHaveYou: Eneru is this from his first appearance in Part Two of the Skypiea Arc, where he comes to Hikari while she's separated from the others in Upper Yard and declares that he's come to take her as his bride.

** It could be argued that Sora, Nox and Merry share this role among the crew as a whole.
*** Sora and Nox are the most innocent of the 'kids', and the crew frankly spoils them with affection and treats to make up for their dark pasts; even as powerful as combatant as Sora proves to be, being a Sky Dragon, and the potential Nox has as a Shadow Dragon, anyone who hurts them had better hope the crew never finds out. Like poor Kumadori once Sanji saw what he did to Sora.
*** Merry, while newly humanoid, has always had a special place in the crew's hearts. Her fate in Water Seven very nearly broke them, and Hikari pushed past her own limits to ensure she was saved no matter the cost. Even in Estrella, the crew made sure to leave Merry with Sabo before breaking into the castle, so she would not end up in danger from the Star Guard again. There's no doubt if anyone threatened the little Zoan-ship, the Straw Hats would all come down on them like a tsunami of fury.

* LandSeaSky: Like the canon Monster Trio, Luffy, Zoro and Hikari's fighting styles match this dynamic: Luffy is fluid and unpredictable like the sea, Zoro is strong and unmoving like the land, and Hikari is fast and strikes hard like the sky, which is only enhanced with her reveal as a winged DraconicHumanoid.

** Gina the Iron Dragon has abilities matching her [[Characters/FairyTail predecessor]], which are very different from Hikari's.
*** This is fully revealed in Part Two of the Skypiea Arc, where Gina's transformation into a DraconicHumanoid is not only wingless, but a heavily-armored digger capable of calling up iron spikes from deep in the earth at will.

* PervertRevengeMode: Hikari has these moments, first shown in the Baratie Arc against Sanji, where she did not appreciate his overdramatic flirting and sent him flying with a single punch.

* PintSizedPowerhouse: Being smaller than most of her crew-mates, Hikari fits this trope, as she fights on the same level as the crews' heavy-hitters.

* YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry: The quickest trigger for Hikari's DraconicHumanoid transformation is anger, and she becomes a OneManArmy against whoever decides to make her furious enough, usually by threatening her crew-mates or children.

* HeroesWantRedheads: While 'hero' is certainly subjective, it's clear that Luffy, Zoro and Law are all attracted to the pink-haired Hikari, who actually fulfills the requirements of hero better than they do.

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: As with most crews, this is true of the Straw Hats. Luffy as captain is the strongest, with Zoro and Hikari equals under him as first mates/vice captains.
** This is precisely why Hikari is heeded more than say, Nami or Usopp, when it comes to plans; she has the strength to force Luffy and Zoro to listen, even if only for a little while, on top of being a natural strategist.

** If the Heartfilia Arc proves anything, it's that they could soon become a Battle Quartet by adding Law, with Kid very much wanting to be a Battle Quintet as shown in Thriller Bark.

** Gina appropriates this skill, in a more violent manner, to tame Funkfreed and gain the elephant-sword as an ally in the Enies Lobby Arc.

** Crocodile hits this before even meeting Hikari, when she meets Gina and realizes that he controls her with a shock collar. He then presses is again, throwing her into a calmer TranquilFury, by implying he's killed Luffy and is set to take over Alabasta.

** Gecko Moria pushes this button for the crew again, first by splitting them up (sending the children plus Nami, Usopp and Vivi inland while trapping the Sunny) and then by stealing shadows (Luffy, Zoro and Sanji) while trying to steal members, primarily Vivi, Kilala, Gina and Sora, while severely injuring others (Gina and Merry end up needing urgent medical care). Their counterattack is proving why this was unwise.

*** It's safe to say that Gina and Chopper have this towards all their 'siblings', which now extends to Merry, Lily, Ariel, Naia, Nox and Shuto, and they won't stand for any of them to be hurt.

** Given recent developments, it's likely that Law will fall into this dynamic as well.

* DeclarationOfProtection: Zoro's promise to Luffy in the Baratie Arc is also one of these to Hikari, who is withholding a mixture of BrokenTears and TearsOfFear over the damage he received from Mihawk. Sanji also constantly makes these, encompassing both Hikari and Nami, but Hikari is far less impressed.

* DefiantCaptive: In the Arlong Arc, Hikari is this when captured by the fishmen pirates.

** Nox has this even worse, being shoved in a dark closet of a room being guarded by a general zombie and completely alone.

** This is proved wrong in the Skypiea Arc, where they find Sora the Sky Dragon, also considered the last of her kind.

** It could be argued that Sora and Merry share this role among the crew as a whole.

Perona eventually follows after being beaten by Usopp and being freed from his trap by Hikari.

** Eliza and Shuto are descendants of Erza Scarlet and Gray Fullbuster.

* IDieFree: As a former New World pirate turned into what essentially amounted to a sex-slave and broodmare, Nyoko not only protected her daughter by poisoning herself, but also died on her own terms and put a severe wrench in her tormenter's plans.

** No one is surprised when Julia joins in the Supernova Alliance Arc, but certainly are with Shuto in Thriller Bark, given he was a former enemy.

** The dragons of the Straw Hat Pirates also fill this trope: Gina is like the land, being built for defense and devastating strength, Sora is fast and strikes hard like the sky, and Hikari, unlike her position above, is like the sea, being strong enough to tank hits and also relatively fast to outmaneuver enemies.

* ObliviouslyBeautiful: Hikari proves to be this as early as the Buggy Arc, not understanding why anyone would care about her undressing. It never seems to occur to her, even with Sanji's constant praise and entering a relationship with Luffy and Zoro that she's attractive.

** Gina seems to be of the same mold.

* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: As in canon, the Straw Hat crew is this, and the story adds a runaway World Noble Celestial Dragon key-holder, a former-assassin Iron Dragon who has a knack for building and playing music, a mostly-mute Sky Dragon, a former slave who was forced to eat a Devil's Fruit and then became a Revolutionary, two genetically-engineered merchildren, one of whom can literally slide their gender between male and female, a Water Logia that speaks in the third-person and loves to cook, an octopus-merman ninja with the Frost-Frost Fruit, and a woman with the Knight-Knight Fruit on the run from the World Government for knowing too much about the Void Century.

* SecretlyWealthy: Hikari is fully shown to be this, not only having enough to cover repairing the Baratie or buy Zoro swords but actually being a World Noble.

* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Hikari does not care about walking around without a shirt in the middle of a life-or-death situation, such as in the Buggy Arc, when her shirt was needed to make bandages. This causes Zoro or Luffy to invoke PleasePutSomeClothesOn and a SexyShirtSwitch that leaves him a WalkingShirtlessScene until there's a chance to change clothes.
** In the Heartfilia Arc, Law gets in on covering her up after Capricorn shreds her dress.

* TeamPet: Unlike canon, Chopper is not shoe-horned into this role, and it's instead held mostly by Momoo the sea-cow, though Lassoo, Kilala and Funkfreed may pick this up when not acting as support for their crew.

* TsunDere: Hikari is an example of one, being a more mixed bag in general, often being Tsun-Tsun with Luffy and Zoro with growing moments of Dere-Dere, while being purely Dere-Dere with Chopper, Sora, Ariel, Naia and Julia, purely Tsun-Tsun with Sanji, and a reactive mix with Usopp, Nami, Robin, Franky, Gina and Lily.

* UndyingLoyalty: Hikari most definitely has this towards the crew, though it is strongest towards Luffy and Zoro.

* TheyDo: In the Drum Island Arc, Luffy, Zoro and Hikari officially start a relationship.
