* KickTheSonOfABitch: As part of his effort to bring Izuku on his side, All For One gives him the chance to kill a defenseless Bakugo as payback for everything the blond did to Midoriya. To sweeten the deal, All for One even offers to take the blame. While Izuku refused, of course, [[spoiler:(even using the chance to create a plan to escape)]] Izuku is ashamed to admit that the offer is more tempting than it should.

* ActuallyPrettyFunny: After Magne kicks Bakugo in the groin several times, the blond asks why she keeps hitting his dick. Dabi replies that given how [[{{Jerkass}} Bakugo is]], even if she attacks another area she would still be hitting a dick. Izuku had to stop himself from laughing.

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Enforced with Mineta, who is learning to control his perverted antics... because Midoriya beat him up when he was trying to peep on the girls, and the principal warned him that he is in danger of being expelled.
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: Coupled with AdaptationalComicRelief, Todoroki has become obsessed with proving All Might being Izuku's dad (to the point of stalking them one point), and creating 'secret love-child' situations even among his peers (for example, thinking Shindo is Momo and Izuku's 'secret love-child'), not to mention being more reckless (such as sneaking into an AirVentPassageway when trying to save Bakugou, which backfires horribly) a stark contrast from his stoic and serious-minded canon counterpart.

* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: In Chapter 42, Momo starts taking action to stop Todoroki each time the boy is thinking about a new "secret love child" theory.

* ComicallySmallBribe: Initially, Aizawa put Midoriya's and Yaoyorozu's rooms in the dormitory as distant as possible. Mina points out to Aizawa that putting them on separate floors means that they'll be trying to sneak out just to meet each other, which means that Aizawa will likely get even ''less'' sleep just having to reprimand them. He ultimately folds when Mina persuades him to put them on the same floor by offering him a new sleeping bag.
* CovertPervert: Momo made a body pillow of Izuku to sleep with when the boy isn't around: while the image on one side is him with regular clothes, on the other he is shirtless and about to take off his pants. The night before they separated because of their jobs at different agencies, she is determined to get closer to "the home base" than before. Izuku jokingly calls her "Mineta jr."

* HeelRealization: In Chapter 44, Bakugo finally realizes how much of a jerk and downright villainous he'd been to Izuku when the latter finally snaps. Later, in Chapter 50, Bakugo makes a deep analysis of his past misbehavior, even reading some of Izuku's journals and visiting his old school, realizing how he got conditioned to [[FantasticRacism see nothing wrong with bullying a Quirkless boy]].

** It happened several times to Midoriya and Yaoyorozu, to the point Momo becomes GenreSavvy about in Chapter 35, mentioning she hopes Izuku's door can lock.

** Related to the above, much of Bakugo's worst personality traits were encouraged by his teachers' FantasticRacism, as they allowed him to continue bullying Izuku without facing any consequences, and even keeping his school record clean while ignoring Izuku's well-being and even downplaying and ignoring Inko's attempts to help her son. This comes back to bite them in the ass when Izuku starts dating Momo, and their parents become close friends; in Chapter 50, it's shown that the Yaoyorozus bought the school and fired the staff. While not stated outright, it's strongly implied that this will ruin the teachers' reputations for good so they'll be unable to find any new teaching jobs.

* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Bakugo finds himself suffering it from Izuku in chapter 44.

* NotSoDifferentRemark: After Mirio explains to Izuku Nighteye's past, Midoriya realizes they are both products of unhappy childhoods who clung to All Might's ability to always face adversity with a smile.

* ParentsAsPeople: Inko did her best to support and protect Izuku, but she couldn't protect him from bullying and discrimination, even when she actually reported these incidents, so Izuku eventually stopped telling her, with the pressure almost [[DrivenToSuicide making him commit suicide]]. Katsuki's parents, on the other hand, tried to be both firm and supportive of him, encouraging his dream to become a hero while doing their best to control his temper; unfortunately, Katsuki's scholastic environment encouraged his {{Jerkass}} tendencies and FantasticRacism, and it didn't help that Katsuki's misbehavior also got on Mitsuki's nerves, increasing her own anger issues.

* ReformedBully: Yubi was one of Bakugo's goons in middle school and helped the blonde torment Midoriya. When Izuku meets him again in the bookshop of Yubi's father he apologizes (his dad forced him, but he mentioned he was going to do it anyway) and even praises Izuku for finally having a Quirk and getting into U.A.
* RejectedApology: Once Bakugo gets his HeelRealization, he tries to apologize to Izuku, but the latter tells him he's not accepting the apology, mostly because he knows that, while Bakugo knows he did wrong, he still doesn't fully realize why it was wrong on the first place; Izuku is still willing to accept the apology if Bakugo makes some honest effort to correct himself but makes clear it will take time. In Chapter 50, Mitsuki tells Bakugo that he must accept the fact that, even if he fully reforms and becomes an actual hero, it's very possible that Izuku, reasonably, will still not forgive him.

* AirVentPassageway: Subverted. Todoroki's plan to invade the bar of the League of Villains is to go through an air-vent: he immediately clogs it (alerting the villains of his presence), he can only crawl very slowly and noisily, and then it simply collapses under his weight.
* AllForNothing: In Chapter 51, Nana finds the AwfulTruth about her son's fate, realizing that her sacrifice, and giving him in adoption to keep him safe from All For One, was totally useless; even worse, he died hating her and heroes in general, and his son became All For One's successor.

** It's not easy to tell with [[TheTease Mina]], but it's implied she has feeling for Midoriya: she tells Yaoyorozu he is a great catch, flirts with Shindo (who, as several characters noticed, looks like Izuku without freckles), and even (jokingly?) tells Momo to call her if she and Izuku are ever up for a threesome.

* BecameTheirOwnAntithesis: Bakugou, who had dreamed to be a hero his whole life, realizes in Chapter 50 that his actions, especially towards Izuku, make him much closer to a villain.

* ClothesMakeTheSuperman: In Chapter 55, Mei gives Izuku an upgraded version of Melissa Shield's gauntlets; combined with the boots she previously gave him, Izuku is now capable of using 100% Full Cowl without hurting himself. All Might still warns Izuku about how [[DeconstructedTrope overusing this gear might make him too dependent of it and prevent him from progressing at his own rate,]] yet also agrees that is okay to use them in emergency situations or difficult missions.

* FantasticRacism: Encouraged by the teachers in Bakugo and Izuku's middle school, as they [[ApatheticTeacher didn't care about Quirkless students getting bullied]], and [[SadisticTeacher covered for the bullies' misdeeds so they could keep a clean record while continuing to hurt the Quirkless ones]].

* HoldingOutForAHero: In Chapter 49, Nana explains to Izuku how Yagi had changed society and mentions this trope as the biggest negative consequence. While All Might, besides keeping crime on very low levels, also inspired others to be better as people, he also made them too dependent on him, to the point where most potential heroes stopped trying to do their best because they knew that [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter they'd never be as good as All Might no matter how hard they tried]]. Worse, the few that try to surpass him do it are doing it for selfish reasons, like Endeavor and Bakugo.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Discussed: Momo accuses All Might of being one when she learns that he (somebody born without a Quirk) told Izuku he couldn't become a Hero; Izuku disagrees, since after all he didn't became the Symbol of Peace until his mentor gave him One For All.

* IHeardThat: [[spoiler:Despite his best efforts (which includes sprinting down the street, locking himself in one of the SWAT vans, wrapping his scarf all the way around his head, put his phone to his mouth, and whispering), Kyoka ''still'' manages to hear Aizawa tell Ms. Joke, "I love you".]]

* KindHeartedCatLover: Ms. Joke, much to Aizawa's surprise. It actually makes him decide to give a shot at dating her.

** Once Kirishima learns about Bakugo's past bullying on Midoriya, he feels it's his duty to help his friend, as he sees he's genuinely remorseful, but he also thinks he's betraying Midoriya if doing it. So he can either stay away from Bakugo, a person who needs his help, or go ahead and feel he's betraying a good classmate. Bakugo makes things easier for him by reminding Kirishima that Izuku is an overall NiceGuy and will not be angry no matter what he decides, so Kirishima decides to help Bakugo with his atonement.
** Sir Nighteye wants to get all the students out of the Overhaul case, knowing he'll be risking their lives if they assist on the battle, and he's particularly wary about getting Izuku in danger, that his death would devastate All Might, and him losing his quirk would mean the end of One For All's legacy. However, he knows that all the students have played an important role on the case so far, and getting them out would be unfair and disrespectful of their abilities as heroes in training, plus he knows that if Izuku has to decide between ToBeLawfulOrGood, he'll choose Good every time, so he'd get involved anyway. He decides to let the students continue being involved after a serious talk with Izuku, realizing that he's fully aware of the possible consequences and taking responsibility for them.

* MyGreatestSecondChance: The reason Nana gets so close to Izuku is because she wants to help him to grow up as both a hero and a human being; she downright tells him that she wants to make up for abandoning her son and leaving Yagi.

* RageBreakingPoint: Izuku has been putting up with Bakugo's bullying for over 10 years and never took measures against it. But the second he insulted his mom during their fight at the Sports Festival, he snaps and '' breaks his hands''.

* RequiredSecondaryPowers: At top power, Izuku's SuperSpeed increases to the point of entering BulletTime, but his reaction time is still a bit slower, so he needs to stop to orient himself if he runs a long distance, as he might end missing his destination or have problems stopping in time.

** Edgeshot turns out to be a huge video game fan, and recounts the tale of "[[VideoGame/SekiroShadowsDieTwice the One-Armed Wolf]]" to Momo as a pep talk. Momo names her Odachi "[[ICallItVera Fushigiri]]" in respect to both her mentor and the game.

* StepfordSmiler: After learning the AwfulTruth about her son and grandson, Nana still tries her best to smile the next time she goes see Izuku. The boy realizes that this is unhealthy, and encourages her to show her true emotions while he comforts her; Nana finally allows herself to cry and vent her frustration and pain.

* TearsOfRemorse: In Chapter 50, after finding the full extension of how much he'd hurt Izuku over the years, a guilt-ridden Bakugou finally breaks crying when Mitsuki hugs him.

* WhyCantIHateYou: Subverted: It's Yaoyorozu that wonders how Midoriya didn't end up hating Bakugo after learning how much the blonde tormented him since they were four and why he still considers him a friend. She even compares it to StockholmSyndrome.

** Momo and Izuku's relationship starts when he helps her recover from her loss at the Sports Festival, reminding her of her abilities and qualities, and suggesting ideas to improve herself. Later, much of Momo's support on Izuku consists of cutting his self-deprecation and reminding him not just how great of a person he is, but also what a wonderful hero he's turning into; All Might and Inko do the same to a lesser extent.

** After years of psychological and physical abuse, Izuku has developed some very serious mental issues that can't be easily resolved even with some loving, competent support. It's only a matter of time before Bakugo pushes him to his RageBreakingPoint, and the consequences are awful for them both, with Izuku feeling quite guilty afterwards and Bakugo barely surviving.
** Without proper, supervised training, Izuku couldn't train himself to become a BadassNormal, since he was in poor physical shape because of Bakugo's bullying causing direct injuries, mental distress, and even malnutrition due to literally losing his lunch more than once because of the beatings.
** After Izuku told him all their history, All Might marched right to Nezu to have Bakugo expelled. Midoriya stopped him because (other than not wanting to have Bakugo kicked out) they have no way to prove it: their old school literally has no record of it (since the teachers didn't want to ruin Bakugo's chance of being a hero over a Quirkless kid), none of their old classmates would support him (they always liked the blond more than Izuku), and Aizawa would probably think it was a ploy of Izuku to avoid the punishment he gave him (and he doesn't really like Midoriya ''or'' All Might already). Midoriya is also worried it could be seen as All Might showing favoritism.
** Just telling Todoroki what he wanted to hear (that All Might is Izuku's father) doesn't automatically "fix" his sanity. As shown when he meets Shindo, and later when he sees Shinso, it made things worse if it did anything. Proving him "right" just furthered his delusions.
** Due to the nature of his Quirk, which requires him to accumulate large amounts of body fat, Fat Gum is an ExtremeOmnivore BigEater; while his Quirk does protect him from the unhealthy consequences, it only goes so far. He has his stomach pumped twice a month and requires regular insulin shots.
** Similar to Izuku's, Momo's self-esteem issues didn't magically disappear: after being shot, she briefly wonders if she has what she takes to be a hero by herself.
** Unlike the many other stories where Izuku adopts Eri after the Overhaul arc, there is significant pushback from Aizawa and others in this one, mainly because the intense burden of raising a child with a powerful Quirk, who also has serious PTSD and major trust issues, is only exacerbated by Izuku’s status as a hero student, which means that he can’t afford to be with Eri all the time, even with Momo and Inko there to help share some of that burden. Izuku isn’t exactly qualified to care for a child, and his only worthwhile credential is his capacity to empathize with what Eri went through, due to his own childhood trauma. Izuku and Momo are forced to promise that taking care of Eri won’t negatively impact their performance as students, and child services will check in routinely to make sure that Eri is making progress as well.
