* TheAloner: Aster starts out as this, remaining secluded in a house on the starting planet of Good Egg Galaxy, having a sign on his door telling people to stay out and lying about not being home, and being rude to Mario when he enters the house through a pipe. Though after following Mario to the next star, he grows out of this and apologizes.

** Also this to this original game, which already was darker than most other Mario games. Just invoke more CerebusSyndrome through a newly introduced character, have one of Mario's closet friends go through UnwillingRoboticization, give boss characters more depth, and go in-depth on Mario's struggles in space, and you've got a recipe for true grimness.

* WrittenByTheWinners: Inverted. The Toads actually lost the war against the Koopas in Crumbleden, but after the few survivors started their own kingdom, they were quick to write the Koopas off as a purely evil conqueror race despite the fact that the Toads started the war in the first place. And with such history being spread across the world, not helped by the fact that they created a dragon which destroyed their own kingdom, the koopa race became hated across the world and banished to Mordor the dark lands. Peach was actually surprised to hear of the Toads' selfishness since she raised to believe the Koopas had no redeeming qualities, with Bowser claiming her kingdom to be biased.

Played straight in the present thanks to Mario helping the Mushroom Kingdom claim constant victory. ** Bowser Jr. doesn't first appear in the game until right before the boss with Megaleg. The fanfic has him debut alongside his father in the very first chapter.

* AdaptationalSympathy: Bowser, who is known in the games to be a purely evil tyrant, whose malice was born simply from bad parenting by Kamek, is instead portrayed as a TragicVillain born into a bloodline of royalty in an ongoing rivalry with the Mushroom Kingdom. He once tried to end the tension by asking some Toads to play with him, only for them to bully him, then got lectured by his AbusiveDad on how conquest is the only way to get things done.

* GreaterScopeVillain: Several were revealed in Chapter 28 alone.
** Bowser's ancestors all previously attacked the Mushroom Kingdom in similar manners to how he does today. Of special note is his father, who allowed a group of Toads to bully him just to hammer in the lesson that he can't solve conflicts through reason, only conquest. Bowser would likely be a different person today if not for him.
** Serving as one for the Koopa and Mushroom Kingdoms as a whole, The Ruined Dragon was created by the Koopas during the war that started the conflict between them and the Toads. While it did allow the Koopas to reign triumphant over the Toads, it also laid Crumbleden to waste, causing both races to abandon their old home and start their own individual kingdoms.
** It's revealed during Bowser's flashback on how he got the idea to rule the universe that Topmaniac is not actually the leader of the Topman Tribe, but has an unseen superior who reveals to Bowser the secrets of the Comet Observatory. So far, this being has only been heard in said flashback.

This or these examples of Surprisingly Realistic Outcome seem to violate at least one of these rules, which disqualifies them: No character reactions (characters get angry, don't forgive, don't change their personality instantly, etc.); Too fantastical (depends on the properties of magic, powers, sci-fi tech, monsters, etc.); Not surprising (a character was warned about the outcome, it's used to provide Karma or An Aesop, or it simply follows normal conventions for this genre or medium); Plot happens (the example only describes an event, but not why audiences would expect a different, unrealistic outcome); Not an outcome (a character just explains why something wouldn't work as expected, or something is just an innate aspect of the setting or character that has a logical reason for being present); More of a Deconstruction (the event has major, lasting effects on the plot, make something more realistic, but not completely realistic, or a parody/fanwork applies realistic consequences to the events of a different work); or fits better under a different trope. See the trope's definition for more details. If you believe a removal was a mistake, please bring it up in the cleanup thread.

* RealityBreakingParadox: Parodied. Luma tells Mario a rumor his sister spread about black holes spawning whenever someone in the universe divides by 0. Bowser Jr. sees this conversation and divides by 0 himself and... nothing happens. Aster then Jossed josses this theory altogether.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: When Mario gets to the pill-shaped planet in Good Egg Galaxy, the constant flipping of gravity disorients him so much that he vomits as soon as it's over.
