* AdultFear: The first time Greg saw Rose, his immediate thought was that Steven had died. Even when he saw Steven standing right next to Rose, he still needed to check that his son was really okay.

* RealityEnsues: While the Crystal Gems and Greg are understandably happy to see Rose back, there's a lot of conflicting emotions over the circumstances (she returned from a BadFuture with a copy of the Breaking Point, Pearl had recently begun dating Sheena/Mystery Girl and is unsure how to react, and the Gems had recently discovered that Rose had indeed been keeping secrets from them).

* BadFuture: Rose apparently came from one of these. She hasn’t shared too many details besides that so far.

* TheCasanova: Something implied in the series but brought front-and-center in this story, Rose Quartz is established with having met with and engaged with multiple human lovers over the centuries while still engaging in a somewhat similar relationship with Pearl. With Pearl now in her own relationship with Sheena (ontop of [[CharacterDevelopment finally getting over Rose after so many years]]), Rose’s return complicates things for her all over again. When Sheena learns about this, she refers to her as a “serial humanizer”. Even if Rose ''thought'' Pearl was okay with this, it still does not excuse her.

* [[DarkAndTroubledPast Dark And Troubled Future]]: Rose hasn’t revealed yet just what happened that brought her back to life and made her decide it was necessary to go back in time to SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong, but what we’ve been told so far all says it wasn’t pretty. [[spoiler:Subverted, when Rose confesses that she actually came from an alternate timeline.]]

* GodzillaThreshold: Though it has yet to be addressed in-story, Rose’s internal dialogue (and what we see of her) indicates that she released Bismuth again and had the Breaking Point recreated before returning to the past.

* LackOfEmpathy: Rose plays with this trope in the story – she has no lack of ''sympathy'' for others, [[AllLovingHero and very much loves her friends and family]], but has trouble understanding their points of view at times.
* LampshadeHanging: Of the dramatic nature. It is through Sheena’s analysis that she found the idea that gems - especially Pearl - being made made to be nothing but glorified curios, yet they were made in design and function to have emotions and a capacity to dream on their own. She even goes a step further to ask why gems have such seemingly useless human characteristics like similar hands (with the same number of joints and fingernails), hair (including eyelashes and eyebrows), the capacity to cry or have snotty noses, the ability to blush, etc.

* RealityEnsues: While the Crystal Gems and Greg are understandably happy to see Rose back, there’s a lot of conflicting emotions over the circumstances (she returned from a BadFuture with a copy of the Breaking Point, Pearl had recently begun dating Sheena/Mystery Girl and is unsure how to react, and the Gems had recently discovered that Rose had indeed been keeping secrets from them).
