* HateSink: As in the show, Eric Cartman is made to be as unlikable as possible for being a petty and bigoted {{jerkass}} who makes the lives of his fellow peers very difficult. Unlike [[TheAtoner Stan and Heidi,]] Cartman shows no remorse for his role that led to Kyle indirectly getting Canada nuked, and attempts to hinder Kyle's attempt to help Canada recover just to spite him. This makes the fact that Kyle brutalizes Cartman as payback for all the torment Cartman has subjected on him [[CatharsisFactor all the more satisfying.]]

Added DiffLines:

* EvenTheLovingHeroHasHatedOnes: While Heidi is back to being a NiceGirl who wants to help people and make amends for her past behavior, she makes it clear Cartman is the one exception, as he has become the one person she truly hates due to being a terrible boyfriend towards her, always acting in revulsion when Cartman tries to get her to take him back, and later threatens to beat up Cartman when he attacks Kyle.

Added DiffLines:

* SparedButNotForgiven: Heidi prevents Kyle from strangling Cartman to death so that Cartman won't get killed and Kyle won’t go to juvie for murder. That said, Heidi never forgave Cartman for everything he put her through when they were still in a relationship and has come to hate Cartman like everyone else.

* SmallRoleBigImpact: The dog only appears in one chapter before it gets killed by Jimbo, but it leaves a lasting impact throughout the rest of the story. Because of the dog, Kyle would learn that Stan and Heidi had trapped Nichole in the barn further straining his relationships with him but he runs away from home, causing Stan, Nichole and Heidi to search for him. Butters would tell Cartman about the incident with the dog causing Cartman to attack Kyle leading to the latter snapping before nearly killing Cartman and attacking Heidi, leafing Stan arriving to save Kyle after he fell from the bridge trying to save Heidi.

* SpannerInTheWorks: The dog is this for Stan and Heidi's plan. They wanted to trap Nichole in the barn for Heidi to later save in their effort to look good in front of Kyle, but they never wanted Nichole to get hurt or killed. Thus when the dog arrives when Heidi "saves" Nichole and Kyle tries to rescue them, Stan and Heidi are forced to confess their plan to Kyle, causing Kyle to loose even more trust in them.

Trope has been disambiguated.

** Kyle admits that his [[{{Wrath}} anger]] is this to him, as it resulted in him getting Canada nuked and he is trying his best to reign it in as best as he can. Unfortunately, it unleashes again after Cartman pushes Kyle too far, resulting in Kyle being blinded by rage as he nearly kills Cartman and attacks Heidi when she intervenes.

This or these examples of Surprisingly Realistic Outcome seem to violate at least one of these rules, which disqualifies them: No character reactions (characters get angry, don't forgive, don't change their personality instantly, etc.); Too fantastical (depends on the properties of magic, powers, sci-fi tech, monsters, etc.); Not surprising (a character was warned about the outcome, it's used to provide Karma or An Aesop, or it simply follows normal conventions for this genre or medium); Plot happens (the example only describes an event, but not why audiences would expect a different, unrealistic outcome); Not an outcome (a character just explains why something wouldn't work as expected); More of a Deconstruction (the event has major, lasting effects on the plot, make something more realistic, but not completely realistic, or a parody/fanwork applies realistic consequences to the events of a different work); or fits better under a different trope. See the trope's definition for more details. If you believe a removal was a mistake, please bring it up in the cleanup thread.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** This story makes it clear that people aren't going to easily forgive or forget your previous actions, even if you do feel bad for your previous actions and are trying to change for the better. This is the case with Stan and Heidi in which Stan's indifference to Kyle's suffering has caused their friendship to become strained, while Kyle has become resentful of Heidi for her past treatment towards him.
** Likewise beating your worst enemy to a blood pulp isn't as cathartic as one hope, in case with Kyle and Cartman and if Kyle went through with killing Cartman he would have ended up in Juvie.

And when I tried to help her, you went and did the very thing I told you not to do, undoing all of my efforts! And now, you bait my worst enemy into attacking me just for your own fucking amusement!"
