*** John's story paints himself as a GaryStu[[in-universe]], and he takes credit for most of the battle.

** John was initially a hyperacive idiot, which Jane's guardian Pop eventually became an exaggerated version of. Sometime around chapters 3 or 4 this dropped a bit and his signs of toying around with the other characters began to show. He's still a little dorky, though, as evidenced by his FruedianSlip in China.

** Rose playing an MMORPG along with John and Jade seems a bit unusual considering her cold personality later on. Though unlike the others, it ''does'' show as early as chapter 2 when she doesn't take Gamzee spilling Faygo on her rug lightly.
** Dave almost completely switched placed with John in terms of character. By the beginning, ''he'' was the rational one, and he reacts appropriately when John holds him in front of a bear. From season two onward, it would be the other way around. (''Dave'' would be more likely do something to endanger ''John'', who would be the one to end their now-hypothetical relationship.)

** In chapter 1, Vriska managed to cheat Karkat into losing strip poker. She also puts up a decent fight against the Housestucks, and she even gets a say in ''starting'' the fight. Considering her ButtMonkey status later on, and her RunningGag in season two of objecting to the Alpha-troll hiring, this is unusual.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The first season had no concrete plot connecting the four chapters, unlike at least seasons two, three, four, and likely five. It also had very vague and brief references to class and aspect powers, like Roxy simply voiding out Doc Scratch's vision of the heroes. This has yet to be brought up again. In a similar vein it's also somewhat unusual how the first chapter lacks the Rainbow Crew treehouse and even moreso that in the second chapter Rose's own house is being used as a base until Fin and Trace's invasion wrecks it up, seeing as the treehouse will then become an established main location. And speaking of that, it's unusual that the first two chapters have scenes in the human's house ''without'' any mentions of their guardians, especially, again, chapter two taking place in Rose's house.

* EveryCarIsAPinto: '''''All''''' cars -- and vehicles in general -- that crash explode shortly after. Except Wiggim's cop car. Cronus is really lucky to be alive.

** Rose's portrayal is an expy of Integra's portrayal in ''Hecksing''.

** WalkingSwimsuitScene: All eight guardians introduced. None of the ancestors out of the half introduced really have this, bar Darkleer if you want to count it.

* GagBoobs: Jake's mother is probably the worst offender of the entire ''Crconikals'' continuity, with Rip Van Winkle from ''Hecksing'' as her ''only'' potential competition. She managed to induce complete MarshmallowHell on ''seven people at the same time'', engulfing them all completely between her brests.

* HotterAndSexier: Do ''not'' let the fact that the cover art looks like it came straight out of the rather tame (sexual-wise) ''Sweet Jade and Hella John'', or the fact that SJAHJ was one of the author's previous installments. This ''is'' a little more out-there than the norm for SBIG, and it's even pointed out in the opening AN. Parodied with the citizens of the world. Hawaii consists of nudists, and then there's the reporter in chapter 4. ''Hecksing'' didn't shy away from "hot" background characters itself -- the dancers in Brazil -- but that was one of the only moments, [[OrwellianRetcon it was added retroactivley]], and it didn't go in as much detail about it.

** More meta example: John and Jade's first ''Crconikals'' appearance was in ''Hecksing'', where they [[spoiler:and their OppositeSexClone[=s=] (of which WordOfGod said that a later chapter of HHC will elaborate on)]] were the only ''Homestuck'' characters to appear or even be mentioned. There was a fake-author's note about Homestuck saying that "It not all trolls," and yet in the fake-author's notes of chapter 5 he mentions that bringing up the trolls first is a good way to hook in readers and that those works that didn't would just get people skipping them.

** Latula's way to "proove" that she is a GamerGirl is by completely exposing her breasts. (The event where that happened was SFW.) John, in a panic, calls her naked by mistake -- [[InsistentTerminology prompting her to tell him what "naked" really was]] by actually ''getting naked''.

* NakedPeopleAreFunny: Hawaii mostly consists of nudists in this universe. Jade, Damara, Meulin, Porrim, Latula, and Aranea have all ended up naked in varrying degrees of public, causing John to freak the hell out over it.

: :This is a [=SBURBless=]/[=Post-SBURB=] AU (It says it's the latter but if this fan fic even remotley follows the rules of the comic then it should be the former), which by itself wipes out the entire first sentence. Doc Scratch is the "evil villain," while Jack isn't even mentioned. As of the latest chapter, John/Jane is the current John pairing, [[spoiler:But HUC's epilogue mentions that John and Jade will get married by the end of the events of both fan fics, so John/Vriska will not be a final couple. Neither will Jade/Karkat]]. The narrator and later Kanaya herself comments that she does ''not'' want to jump to another relationship after Edward's death, seriously hindering Rose/Kanaya. [[spoiler:(Until Kanaya finds news about Alucard's death.)]] Chapter 3 hinted Terezi/Dave, but then again it also hinted Terezi/Latula and Terezi/Karkat. As for Eridan's "noone" thing... that's jossed as early as chapter 3. There was a cop chase in the same chapter, which is perhaps the closest thing the summary got right.

** Doc Scratch's level of knowledge is ''extremely'' inconsistant. To the point where his motivation for killing John, Jade, and Rose's avatars in the MLP: FIM game makes no sense if you think about it.

* ThrowItIn: According to the actual author, almost all of the typoes were actually made by accident, he just doesn't bother correcting ''most'' of them (those he does are usually to make the story still clear, or to reduce frequency). Many of the intended typoes are either "common" spelling mistakes (alot instead of a lot) or RougeAnglesOfSatin intended for humorous effect. This was to give an effect that the story was written by someone who rushed through everything and barely looked back at it, which was partially the case here given the "three days apart each chapte per season" deadlines.

* TorchesAndPitchforks: The Pikmin interns use these at the beginning of chapter 9.

** Chapters 9 and 10 essentially make up an entire bottle ''mini season''. Chapter 9 was rather short, only mainly focused on StylisticSuck character development for the Rainbow Crew, and half its plot was taken from the ''Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask''. 10 was also short and half of it was Weird Romance Shit.

Rose holds a gun up to her when she first finds the Rainbow Crew for breaking a television,''she'' has to do something for ''them'' before she can join (for all other Alpha trolls it's the other way around, depending on how you count Meenah), and in chapter 13 she's the only character to not make a direct hit on Darkhorse and gets stomped on the groin several times. And it's implied that [[BizarreAlienBiology whatever trolls have down there,]] either sex getting hit hurts as much as guys getting hit in the same region.

** WalkingSwimsuitScene: All six of the eight guardians introduced so far. It's not known if Rose's or Jade's follow suit too. None of the ancestors out of the half introduced really ''do'', bar Darkleer if you want to count it.

* FunnyAfro: Aranea used to sport one. Then Meulin accidentally cut part of it.

** Whether or not classes and aspects still applies to the characters seem to flip-flop between being so (such as how Roxy voids out Scratch's vision) and not being mentioned.

* StacysMom: John is revealed in chapter 11 to have a crush on Jake's Ma.

* CurseCutShort: John at the end of chapter 9, in the "end of episode cutoff" variant. Odd, because this fan fic doesn't shy away from swearing (aside from what Damara wanted to do with John at the beginning of the same chapter.) Subverted in chapter ten after the short Homer intermission, which picks up exactly where John's statement left off.

* DecoyProtagonist:
** [[spoiler:Geno is introduced in chapter 3 and seems to be a major character that will become very important later on. Similar to Carl in ''Hecksing''. However, he dies the very next chapter.]]
** The first chapter begins with Kanaya and Edward Cullen. [[spoiler:Edward dies and Kanaya runs away]], then the perspective switches to the humans with Kanaya receiving little focus after.

** [[spoiler:Season two may have been building up to Meenah being a final battle that isn't actually added to the Rainbow Crew, but she sorta-pulls a HellFaceTurn and joins them.]]

* SelfDeprecation: A flashback shows Cronus driving a train -- and crashing it. What that happens, Porrim comments, "Yikes! That's a bigger train wreck than Great Pikmin Fan's ''Total Drama World Tour Rewrite!''"[[note]]This scene was written back when Pikmin Fan had extreme CreatorBacklash over TDWTR; he has since lightened up to the fan fic as a whole, but not quite the old version.[[/note]]

* TheWindyCity: Halfway through chapter 1 reveals that the Rainbow Crew lives in Chicago. In the first four chapters, Chicago itself has ironically gotten little focus.[[labelnote:Note]]Chapter 1 mostly takes place in the Grand Canyon, 2 takes place completely in Rose's house and the path leading to it (except for the very end, which takes place in the treehouse), 3 takes place entirley in Hawaii, and 4 mostly takes place in Scratch's appartment or the Aircraft Carrier.[[/labelnote]]

The first three "seasons" are over. The fourth "season," after [[ScheduleSlip an extremely long hiatus,]] started December 21st of this year. The fan fic, as with its preceedor, is planned to update every three days during a "season," until that season ends, which leads to a break. In the case of season four, this means that its dates will be on the 21st, 24th, 27th, and the 30th.

A few days after posting a new chapter to another, completely unrelated fan work, Pikmin Fan wrote a short story on his profile announcing a few key details about the series future: Seasons 4 onward will feature more genuine character development (apparently enough to shake Rose's current status as a cold-hearted sadist), and accompanying that will be an edit of all ten chapters published thusfar for some retuning and, if the Rainbow Crew's uniforms are any indication, fitting the story so that it fits the author's own headcanons better. ** In ''Hecksing'', Wiggim only makes one brief cameo when he arrests Integra. He's never mentioned again, not in the court case itself or even the epilogue. In ''Housestuck'', he's a threat within chapter 3 at least, and it's implied that he will be seen again.

** Season four: Even though it's not out yet, the events in the chapters will only happen because [[spoiler:the Troll Empress]] forced the Rainbow Crew to do it, pointing to her as the main villain overall.

** [[spoiler:Remember that paper Dave was working on in chapter 4? That turned out to be the script for a song that he will sing at the end of chapter 8 to earn redemption]].
** [[spoiler:The whistle Kurloz wants]].
* ChekhovsGunman: Tony Hawk appears in chapter 13 skating around in the background. Later on, he provides as a semi-important character when he gives some words to Latula and when he reveals that [[spoiler:he has the ability to turn into an actual giant hawk.]]

* DeadPersonConversation: In chapter 4, [[spoiler:Jade talks to Pip Bernadotte's ghost after his death with Carl's spaceship falling on him. But it turns out John can see his ghost too.]]

** Wiggim shooting at the Rainbow Crew for speeding on segways, without even so much as giving them a chance to pull over. Even odder, in chapter 9 of ''Hecksing'', Wiggim just ''arrests'' Integra for speeding. Chapter 9 of HUC takes place later, so it seems that Wiggim has learned to calm down a little.

* FourIsDeath: Chapter four involved losses on ''both'' sides: [[spoiler:For the Rainbow Crew, Geno dies. For the Felt, they lose both Damara and Meenah, the latter of which they just got.]]

** TheissTitillationTheory: Pretty much all of the A2 ancestor's outfits to an extent (Disciple and Dolorosa having a variant; they ''make'' it look like you could see nudity (nothing under the former's paint and all of the clothing layers of the latter being see-through), but they're not (there is something opaque under both outfits)). Handmaid, Signless, Highblood, and Condesce are the worst offenders, and Darkleer's almost completely relies on this in an unusual way as part of the appeal.

* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: The "crow ninjas" in China really have no reasoning behind their existance. [[spoiler:Then there's the GrimReaper[=-esque=] figure they turn into]].

* LargeHam: Karkat is depicted this way, as thanks to the sheer weird crap that happens in the story, his caps locks comes off more like he's overreacting in surprise rather than shouting in anger. Vriska may also count.

** And ''all'' of the Zodiac trolls's ancestors, who don't wear the plain swimsuits but instead... more impractical outfits.

* PaintingTheMedium: When Kurloz [[spoiler:is talking to the Waterwraith between Cronus's sidequest and assaulting Meenah's dungeon]], his "bone text" is represented in all caps and bold, even with the quotation marks being bolded. This is evident in the narration:

* RuleOfThree: In chapter 12, while Nepeta is working towards [[spoiler:reviving the dead trolls]], the narrative suddenly brings up three times that if the author was Creator/AndrewHussie (obvious issues as to why the ''HELL'' Hussie would write a story like ''this'' aside), then the [[spoiler:revivals]] would be fake-outs.

** Finally so far, nobody had any problems fighting Meenah, and the only reason a girl (Porrim) ends up being the only direct one to battle her is because both she dashed head-on to attack her first upon realizing that Meenah was a villain, and because [[spoiler:shortly after the battle Meenah gives up and decides to join in with the Rainbow Crew.]]
* WrongGenreSavvy: Sollux and Karkat, for labeling certain trolls as "canon fodder." [[CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass They couldn't be anywhere near wrong.]] After being disproven, they seem to stop.

** Season two: Meenah. [[spoiler:Though she pulls a HeelFaceTurn at the end... sort of]].
** Season three: The "Pikmin God"/[[spoiler:Waterwraith]].

* BodyPaint: Near the end of chapter 10, Jane tries to show John that she can be impulsive by sneaking into his room "wearing" nothing but a [[ComicBook/XMen Mystique]] cosplay "and censor bars" in a scene admittedly ripped from an episode of ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy''. John, for some reason, at first thinks that she had just killed Equius and Horuss and was running around naked and covered in their blood. (Jane corrects him before he does anything stupid.) Then it turns out, Jade did the exact same thing Jane did. And later John's ''mom'' joins in, for some bizarre reason.

* DreamingOfThingsToCome: John confessed to having erotic dreams about Dirk in chapter 3, saying that it could be something of "the destinies" since they're in a relationship. [[spoiler:The very next chapter shows that he's wrong, thus subverting the trope]].

In a similar situation to... what ''was'' once planned for ''Sweet Jade and Hella John'', this is so that the last three A1 trolls are properly introduced, which would actually affect the plot.[[labelnote:Note]]In SJAHJ, by the time the A1 trolls were outright ''needed'' for the plot, Kankri, Latula, and Porrim had been introduced, so a few jokes were done with them and Aranea, and the other trolls were outright sillouettes.[[/labelnote]] Although this ''didn't'' stop Pikmin Fan from using Damara during the first four chapters, when next to nothing was known about her. * SpoofAesop: When building the border wall for Chicago, John and Rose start to think that they are actually doing it for the purpose of keeping out immigrants, and not for actually keeping out monsters, and Meulin was either tricked or flat out lied to them. They destroy a large chunk of the wall, give an [[InsaneTrollLogic asinine]] speech about acceptance, and then [[spoiler:it turns out that the "monsters" kept out ''really were'' monsters. Giant ladybug creatures ([[VideoGame/{{Pikmin}} Bulborbs, to be specific]]) that proceeded to eat most of Chicago's crops]].

** The title [[spoiler:is a ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' reference]].

* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: John's mom seemed to have conceived him at a year above the youngest legal age possible.

* BodyPaint: Near the end of chapter 10, Jane tries to show John that she can be impulsive by sneaking into his room "wearing" nothing but a [[ComicBook/XMen Mystique]] cosplay "and censor bars" in a scene admittedly ripped from an episode of ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy''. John, for some reason, at first thinks that she had just killed Equius and Horuss and was running around naked and covered in their blood. (Jane corrects him before he does anything stupid.) Then it turns out, Jade did the exact same thing Jane did.

* YouCantFightFate: Subverted. The end of chapter one shows that Aradia can have visions or can see into the future. But in chapter 2, when asked if the Rainbow Crew will be able to survive the attack from Fin and Trace, she says that it depends on how they do, implying that the ''Crconikals'' verse has a flexible timeline, unlike the ''Homestuck'' verse.

''Hecksing'' didn't shy away from "hot" background characters itself -- the dancers in Brazil -- but that was one of the only moments, [[OrwellianRetcon it was added retroactivley]], and it didn't go in as much detail about it.

* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: When Homer [[spoiler:is mortally injured by the Stalfos (in fact, he only survives by getting mutated), all he says is "Ow! That hurt a little!"]]

* ArtifactTitle: "Housestucks" is the name of the group of eight humans at the beginning, however when they merge with the Zodiacs both groups are renamed into the Rainbow Crew. This happened near the end of the first chapter, meaning that the story's title stops making sense ''as soon as it really begins''. To a much lesser extent the same goes for the "Hurricane"/"Hurrcain" part of the title, as it seems to imply some connection with John and his Heir of Breath powers. Classpect abilities haven't really been used since the first ''chapter'' (the first half of which, to boot) so far, as the story looses its more mystical and supernatural backgrounds and becomes a more BadassNormal-focused series.

* PleasePutSomeClothesOn: John, the only humanoid guy [[spoiler:alive at the time]] in one particular group, apparantly didn't like how Damara ditched her Felt wardrobe. Nor did he like Porrim being naked on her introduction. By the time Latula gets naked [[InsaneTrollLogic as some bizarre means to proove her]] GamerGirl status, John runs away in discomfort. He also runs when he came across Meulin accidentally exposing herself to show off the marks she put on her belt whenever Cronus does something decietful.

John, Rose, and Jade are playing a ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' {{MMORPG}} when a strange "white pony" character kills all of their avatars and messes up their gameplay. Irritated (for the second time in Rose and Jade's case), they get Roxy to track down the person responsible and find out that it's Doc Scratch, of the Felt. [[ExcusePlot For some reason]]. After their first attempt at killing him fails when the entire Felt tries to fight them at once, the eight humans seek help from the trolls, who first train them and then hire them as part of their group. Originally, the trolls called themselfs the Zodiacs and the humans the Housestucks, but since the humans make the group not fit the Zodiac theme they rename themselfs the Rainbow Crew.

Similar to ''Hecksing Ulumate Crconikals'', the main conflict is between two organizations; the Felt and the Rainbow Crew. Completely unlike HUC, however, over half of the fan fic will consist of various side story chapters dedicated to developing the characters and the world. That's right. An attempt at "CharacterDevelopment" and "WorldBuilding" in an interntionally badly done fan fic. [[PlotHole This goes about as well as one might expect]]. WordOfGod says the relationship between HHC and HUC is similar to that between ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask'' and ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Ocarina of Time]]'' respectivley, just done really badly. Also, apparantly everyone is a die-hard fan of ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}''.

A few days after posting a new chapter to another, completely unrelated fan work, Pikmin Fan wrote a short story on his profile announcing a few key details about the series future: Seasons 4 onward will feature more genuine character development (apparently enough to shake Rose's current status as a cold-hearted sadist), and accompanying that will be an edit of all ten chapters published thusfar for some retuning and, if the Rainbow Crew's uniforms are any indication, fitting the story so that it fits the author's own headcannons better. John and Jade only got a little mention in chpaters 9 and 13 of ''Hecksing Ulumate Crconikals'' and ultimatley contributed nothing to the story. Here, John's the main character (Jade... not so much) and the other members of the ''Homestuck'' cast gets to appear. Apart from this, there will be others:

* BadassNormal: ''Meenah''. She builds a long, complicated dungeon under a day that stumps the entire Rainbow Crew, leaves the Felt and manages to steal heavy ammounts of "[[AppliedPhlebotinum Vitamin Scratch]]" from them with minimal consequences (keep in mind that it's implied they try to kill people who leave the Felt -- as with Damara's case), and duels Porrim -- who has extreme regenerative skills and super strength and speed -- in a battle that ammounts to a draw. Her only natural alien abilities are a long natural lifespan and the ability to live underwater, neither of which are even used in any of these feats.

* BodyPaint: Near the end of chapter 10, Jane tries to show John that she can be impulsive by sneaking into his room "wearing" nothing but a [[ComicBook/XMen Mystique]] cosplay "and censor bars" in a scene admidetly ripped from an episode of ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy''. John, for some reason, at first thinks that she had just killed Equius and Horuss and was running around naked and covered in their blood. (Jane corrects him before he does anything stupid.) Then it turns out, Jade did the exact same thing Jane did.

* ChekhovsVolcano: The volcano in Hawaii, "[[ArtisticLicenseGeography Mt. Fuji]]," errupts.

*** The faux-author apparantly does not know how ectobiology works. Given that he skipped Acts 3 and 4 (until making chapter 5), where it is introduced and where it plays a role in creating the kids respectivley, this shouldn't be that much of a shock. He ''is'' aware that trolls have no concept of siblings, but thinks that the post-scratch and pre-scratch trolls sharing last names ''is an error on Andrew Hussie's part'', which is "fixed" by giving them different last names. ([[XtremeKoolLetterz Peixez]] instead of Peixes for Meenah for one.) It's unknown as of now how Roxy and Dirk's sharing of surnames with Rose and Dave will be affected, since as of now only Dave has been refered to by last name.

* CriticalResearchFailure: Invoked, just as with CowboyBebopAtHisComputer. "The ''country'' of Hawaii". To make it even more embarrasing, the fake-author is implied to live in the United States. Even worse, it has ''king'' who is ''George W. Bush.''

This goes to such an extent that when John uses "wet dream" to describe the Geno incident (see ShoutOut below for clairification), Karkat misunderstands and thinks he's talking about the woman.

** Chapter 2 was just a simple reinactment of the Valentine Brothers arc in ''Hellsing''. It was very short and had little to it that wasn't 100% plot relevant. Right after this was the longest and most complicated chapter out of its respective arc.
