Twilight is shown doing everything she can to keep the castle secure from intruders and both her and Spike are to paranoid to sleep in fear that the Star Sisters will return for them, just like Mockridge was in regards to The Riddler.

* EarlyInstalmentWeirdness: Whilst Stone Heart is still an unpopular writer in ''Writer's Blockade'', the story is centred around his mending his friendship his friends, Sandy Beam and Shining Hope. In all later fics with Stone Heart, his writing is the main focus of the story [[DemotedToExtra whilst Sandy Beam is given a much more reduced role]] (and Stone no longer has a crush on her) and Shining Hope isn't featured.

* HowWeGotHere: ''Nine and Eleven'' begins with many characters clearing up the rubble of a collapsed building before Spike decides to tell the readers what had happened.

** A female earth pony's reaction to being prevented from committing suicide in ''Twilight in Therapy'' closely copies a scene from ''WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles1'.

* NeverTrustATrailer: The summary of ''Nine & Eleven'' claims there's no terrorist attack in the story, which happened to be published on September 11. [[spoiler:However, Silver Nickle blowing her own company to kingdom come just to spite the very concepts of friendship and fun [[BombThrowingAnarchists sounds very much like the mentality of a terrorist]].]] The summary also states that a frightening and horrific tragedy occurs. [[spoiler:The complete destruction of a building and one death does not a tragedy make, especially since that one death is of [[AssholeVictim the perpetrator.]]]] Averted in the revised version, wherein [[spoiler: many ponies are killed and injured by the explosion]].

** TheReasonYouSuckSpeech that Luna Light gives to Twilight is based on [[Recap/FamilyGuy8E7JeromeIsTheNewBlack Quagmire's speech to Brian]] from ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy''. Both speeches are given whilst the recipient of the speech is trying to befriend the one who hates them and (on a less deliberate level) both characters giving the speech are not only [[MoralMyopia guilty of much worse offences]], [[{{Hypocrite}} but also of things they criticize the other for doing]]. Also, unlike in the original, wherein Quagmire knows he is a nasty piece of work, and doesn't ever pretend to have the moral high ground, Luna Light is completely unaware of her own flaws.

* {{Gasp}}: Many ponies gasp several times during the events in one of the later chapters in ''Pride and Punishment''.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Mykan's {{Author Avatar}}s tend to not practice what they preach.
** Talon Ted takes offense to being called selfish and lazy despite making a charitable donation and working hard at the toll booths/loading docks. [[UnreliableNarrator He glosses over the part where he threatened to rescind that donation, or merely flaunted it in a retcon, just to be a jerk to his own sister and that he slacks off regularly at his job.]] Not to mention, he insists on getting into the acting industry without any real education, and declined proper acting jobs simply because going through the education system hurt his pride. He takes issue when Twilight and Ath-Lita plan to trick him but apparently has no issue at all with tricking them back in retaliation and humiliating them in the process.
** Garfield calls the girls pathetic for [[spoiler:getting captured by "a group of third-rated poor-excuse for villains", even though said villians also managed to disarm and nearly kill him, only failing to do so because he gets exposed to the magic they had been extracting and turns into a dragon]].
** Beast Boy tells Terra that her actions towards him were inexcusible, regardless of the pain she suffered in her old life, but has no problem using his own tragic past to justify his own bad actions. Both before and after he becomes Count Logan.
** Helper Soul says he doesn't wish any harm on Nightlight but he implies he regrets trying to save Night which lead to Helper's CareerEndingInjury, thus by proxy, he wishes harm on Night (Mykan later revised how Helper got crippled, making this trope averted).
** Davis claims that the girls pursuing him are all extremely shallow and only pursue him for his reputation rather than him as a person. Meanwhile, the first thing he does in the story is to reject a girl for not being Kari, which makes him look equally shallow.
** In many of the stories he is in, Stone Heart complains about how unfair it is that ponies hate his books just because they don't conform to their preferences. However, Stone himself openly admits he [[AuthorAppeal only writes books that appeal to him]], without caring what other ponies like and he has no problem dismissing books that don't appeal to his own preferences as 'terrible', even going as far as to say that he hates ponies who do enjoy them.
** Write of Way ends with Stone Heart publishing a self-help book in which the contents of said book essentially boil down to [[OnlyInItForTheMoney "Friendship doesn't make everything alright but money does."]] This is after it was established Stone Heart frequently gives checks away because he's too [[{{Pride}} "proud"]] to get money from a source he doesn't approve of.
** Luna Light accuses Twilight of being a ControlFreak who expects everypony to follow her way of life, when she herself expects everypony close to her to hate Twilight as much as she does or else she cuts them out of her life like she does to Moondancer.

** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] in ''A Hearths Warming Carol''. Twilight tries to argue that Miser Hoof doesn't need to make other ponies feel miserable, but the Ghost of Hearths Warming Current disagrees and says that Miser can't heal and be happy after all the hardship he faced during his life.

* BrokenAesop: Has it's own [[BrokenAesop/FriendshipIsFailure page]].

* FriendshipHatingAntagonist: One of the antagonists, Stone Heart is a thin-skinned writer who [[CantTakeCriticism verbally attacks anyone who dislikes his writing]], and has [[EntitledToHaveYou a creepy obsession with Sandy Beam]] due to him writing Sandy as a love interest in his stories despite her being creeped out by this. When he gets his hands on a magical typewriter, [[EvilIsPetty he uses it to take petty revenge]] by attacking people in their dreams and [[BullyingADragon even targets Twilight Sparkle and Spike.]] One of his main reasons for hating Twilight is that her acceptance of friendship lead to a life far more fulfilling than his.

* TookaLevelInDumbass: All of the MLP characters go through this, but it happens to [[TheChewToy Twilight and Rarity]] the most.

* ArtisticLicenseNuclearPhysics: Garfield digs up uranium in ''Ways of Life'' without getting any radiation sickness.

* SocialServicesDoesNotExist: In ''Ways of Life'', Garfield and other children were abused in a Dickensian orphanage with no authorities finding out from those that were adopted out until he ran away. Afterwards, no homeless shelter or other orphanage would take him due to him being dishevelled and, despite being nine years old, he was given a job at a restaurant.

* VoodooShark: Zig-Zagged. In the original version of ''End of Ends'', Beast Boy turns into his beast form and uncontrollably mauls Terra's friends, leading the Titans to call Beast boy out on it. It's meant to make them come off as unfair to Beast Boy because he couldn't control himself even though he had gained control over his beast form in the original cartoon. An attempt was made to fix this in the newest version by having Beast Boy be in his T-Rex form, which he ''does'' have control over, and beating up some random thugs hired by Terra's friends. On the one hand, this makes the Titans being unjustified in telling off Beast Boy more valid, but on the other hand, it turns them into complete idiots because Beast Boy had just been defending himself, and superheroes beat up thugs all the time. Heck, ''Robin'' did the same thing in [[Recap/TeenTitansS5E10Go "Go"]].

* CosmicRetcon: [[spoiler:Darkness of Dimensions ends with the characters pulling one in order to stop the Dark Angels.]]

** ''Beast Boy in Equestria'' is one between ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' and ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''.
** ''Teen Titans HSM V: Ways of Life'' is one between ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' and ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirls''.

** ''Darkness of Dimensions'' is a CrisisCrossover with ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' (again), ''Manga/InuYasha'', and ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02''.

** Just like in the original ''Fanfic/TheEndOfEnds'' and every other ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' fanfic Mykan has written, Beast Boy has this attitude towards Terra.

* UnwantedAssistance: Twilight often tries to help the problem ponies of the stories to improve their unhappy lives, despite them insisting that they don't want her too. In every instance, the attempt to help ends up backfiring in some way and the pony refuses to change their ways.
