** Luna Light is one for voicing Mykan's hatred of Twilight Sparkle. Her rejection of Moondancer for forgiving Twilight and being her friend again also reflects Mykan's own feelings towards Moondancer, initially liking her character but then hating her once she made amends with Twilight.

* RememberTheNewGuy: Rarity has apparently had a lifelong rivalry with Glitter Glitz despite the fact we just meet her.

* GeorgeJetsonJobSecurity: All of Silver Nickle's employees. It doens't get much worse than a boss who will fire you just for being happy.

* AbusiveParents:
** Bill Dollar and his sister Goldie Stocks had them. They were workaholics and pushed the two to focus on [[TitleDrop "All Work and No Play"]] to the point where they threw their toys away. Goldie ended up falling in line, but Bill ended up distancing himself ([[{{Irony}} And ended up a lot like them as a result]]).
** Silver Nickle's parents were extreme workaholics who wanted to force their views onto their daughter. They routinely swamped her with large amounts school work and chores and even [[spoiler:tested a machine on her so that she would be completely unable to enjoy having fun]].

* BadBoss: Silver Nickle ([[SpellMyNameWithAnS sic]]), to epic proportions. Simply ''smiling'' at her is enough reason for her to fire an employee on the spot, yet somehow she still manages to run a successful business despite likely having a worker turnover rate that makes [[Franchise/StarWars Darth Vader]] look forgiving.

* ReformedBully: When Violet was in high school, she was a notorius bully, especially to Courier. After she graduated, guys didn't want to date her because of her reputation and this led her to become regretful of her past actions and move to Ponyville to start a new life. She soon developed feelings for Courier when he came to Ponyville as well, but unfortunately for her, he's still angry about what she did to him and wants nothing to do with her.

* SelfMadeOrphan: [[spoiler:Silver Nickle killed her parents after they used a machine on her that made her unable to enjoy having fun and that requried her to routinely take a PsychoSerum to survive.]]

A ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' fanfic series from the [[Creator/DakariKingMykan same mind]] that brought you ''Fanfic/TheEndOfEnds'' and ''[[Fanfic/MyBravePonyStarfleetMagic Starfleet Magic]]''. It's a series of fics that are meant to be a deconstruction of ''[=FiM=]'' that tries to prove that ThePowerOfFriendship can't solve [[SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids everything]].

* ArtisticLicenseEconomics: Talon Ted is given one million pounds of gold (or 18 billion American dollars) in a welfare fund for breaking his hind legs. Normally, a welfare fund would only be around 200 to 300 dollars per month. Additionally, Equestria uses bits, not pounds. The chapter even ''uses'' bits later. With the exception of the first mention of the settlement money, these has since been fixed.

** In the real world, Stone Heart would have gotten arrested for the destruction of private and public property after he rams a cart into a pile of books, destroying them in the process. In this story, [[KarmaHoudini he only receives a lecture and some community service]] and instead, it is [[UnwantedAssistance Twilight, who tried to help him, that draws Celestia's ire]].

** Miser Stash's father [[MaternalDeathBlameTheChild blamed him for the death of his mother]], pushed him to very high standards at school and sent him away to a BoardingSchool when he failed to meet them. When Miser got in trouble for fighting a bully, his father started beating him, resulting in the royal guards arresting him.

* SoundEffectBleeps: Occurs multiple times throughout ''End of Ends'' and ''Darkness of Dimensions,'' which is particularly odd considering both fics have an M-Rating.

* StalkerWithACrush:
** Stone Heart towards Sandy Beam in ''Writer's Blockade''. He kept writing her into his stories as the love interest which creeped her out and asked her to stop and Stone Heart didn't seem to understand what the big deal was.
** Strings towards Cadance. He was in love with her since foalhood and devoted his entire musical career to her element of love. While he doesn't try to follow her around too much, he still refuses to move on from her.
** And just like in the original ''End of Ends'', Beast Boy falls into this. ''Darkness of Dimensions'' amplifies this.

* BrokenAesop: All of the stories try to teach Twilight that she needs to stop "forcing" her opinions on other people. This breaks since [[{{Hypocrite}} the characters she's "forcing her opinions on" force their own opinions on her]].
** ''Beast Boy in Equestria'' is a particularly egregious case. Despite containing the same "Friendship can't solve everything" message that all the other stories do, Beast Boy is only able to defeat the villain Changeling through the PowerOfFriendship. The ONLY reason Mykan says it fails is because [[spoiler:Beast Boy dies at the end but his death wasn't connected to his friendship with the others AT ALL.]] ''END OF ENDS'' has the exact same problem.
** One of the lessons of ''Pride and Punishment'' is that there is more than one way of doing or getting something and you should accept these ways as valid options, even if they aren't the most common way. The one who's supposed to learn this lesson is Ath Lita, who forced Talon Ted to get an acting degree when he wanted to pursue his dreams without one. However, Talon himself refuses to accept any way of achieving his dream of becoming an actor other than his own way (and mentions that he scoffed at those who did get degrees to become actors). This is despite the fact that said way wasn't working as he got rejected by every audition he went to. He's potrayed as being in the right for this.
** One of the messages of ''Amending Hearth's Warming'' is apparently "Think of others"... except Helper Soul, the character we're supposed to see as in the right, is a gigantic JerkAss who thinks only of himself.
** The primary lesson of ''Darkness of Dimensions'' seems to be that you shouldn't meddle in the natural order of things, otherwise, certain catastrophe will result. [[spoiler:This is apparently shown when the Dark Angels destroy the multiverse after Twilight tries to help them but the Aesop becomes broken when time travel is used to prevent the Dark Angels from coming into existence; thus, meddling in the "natural order" saves the day.]]
** The lessons of ''Write in the Head'' are that you cannot force your opinons onto others and that just because someone is different than you doesn't give you the right to treat them differently. This is demonstrated by Stone's writing being viewed poorly by ponies because it doesn't fit with their preferences. However, Stone himself thinks other ponies are wrong for enjoying stories he doesn't and so he insults them and attacks them with his nightmares for it. [[{{Hypocrite}} Treating them badly because they have different opinions than him]].
** In both ''Beast Boy in Equestria'' and ''The End of Ends'', Terra is given nothing but scorn for choosing to live a life away from a possible significant other for everyone's good. In ''Love Doesn't Work That Way'', however, Strings is given nothing but sympathy for the exact same thing.
** Another with Terra. She's always told that her bad past and desire to have a normal life [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse don't excuse how she treated Beast Boy]]. Meanwhile, Beast Boy and other characters in this series can act far worse, but their pasts and motives will always be met with sympathy and be viewed as understandable reasons for their actions.

** Moondancer's mother, Luna Light, disowned her own daughter and told her that her deceased father would [[DisappointedinYou hate to see her]], [[DisproportionateRetribution just because she chose to make amends with Twilight]] (a pony Luna hates). In the final chapter, [[spoiler:she goes as far as to physically attack Moondancer.]]

* BrilliantButLazy: Talon Ted is [[InformedAbility (supposedly)]] a fantastic actor, but he expects others to just give him what he wants without him having to put in any type of work. When this doesn't happen, he just lazes around all day.

* CallingTheOldWomanOut: In the climax of ''Hearth's Warming I'll Never Forget'', Moondancer confronts her mother after she leaves the party and calls her out for how badly she's treated her, Twilight and their friends. Luna Light is unmoved and when Moondancer refuses to back down, she attacks her.

* IHaveNoDaughter: Moondancer's mother disowned her for forgiving Twilight for not attending her party and not being bitter toward her for being highly successful.

* BigSisterBully: An [[InvertedTrope inversion]] as Ath-Lita is the younger sister of Talon Ted, and she assaults him with a baseball bat (albeit because she's trying to get him to get his dream job and quit being lazy). Her [[https://www.deviantart.com/dakari-king-mykan/art/Friendship-is-Failure-Characters-Ath-Lita-758813780 profile]] also claims she's done the same to other ponies.

* CantTakeCriticism: Stone Heart. Despite the fact that people have legit gripes towards his works, he brushes them off as haters and refuses to change because it'd mean going against his preferences. He even starts causing nightmares to his critics, and hates success if it means he has to listen to criticism for it.

* FlatCharacter: As is the usual with this author, all of the characters have a single trait, and are one-note and bland; most of the problem characters can be summed up as "He's antisocial and hates friendship because [insert excuse of the week here] and that's about it" or "(S)he despises/can't let go of [insert name here] because [insert petty reason here]." Canon characters are subject to some severe {{Flanderisation}}, as usual: Twilight refuses to give up on the problem ponies, Starlight never thinks it's going to end well, Celestia is only there to sympathize with the problem pony and occasionally berate Twilight, and Rarity is, for want of a better word, a bimbo; that's all the personality to be found. The complete lack of character development, especially among the problem ponies, doesn't help matters.
* ForgotAboutHisPowers: Twilight frequently forgets she has telekinesis in most of these stories.

* KarmaHoudini: Mykan's {{Author Avatar}}s tend to get away with their [[{{Jerkass}} asshole behavior]].
** Talon Ted gets rewarded for being a selfish ManChild throwing a hissy fit by... being taken seriously by talent agencies, and later getting an actual gig. Meanwhile, Twilight gets called out by Princess Celestia [[InsaneTrollLogic for trying to make things right]] while only calling Talon out on his anger issues (which he dismisses as "nobody's perfect"), and Ath-Lita is more or less abandoned by the brother she tried to help.
** ''Write a Wrong'' has Stone Heart throwing a tantrum over Twilight's revisions to his story, causing a massive scene that could've resulted in multiple injuries. He gets off scott-free, and the disturbance is blamed on Twilight instead.
*** This happens with Stone Heart ''again'' in "Write of Way" wherein he insults Princess Celestia, the ruler of Equestria...and is rewarded with being a successful self-help book author.

* OffWithHerHead: [[spoiler:Count Logan does this to Flurry Heart.]]

* PunnyName:
** "Talon Ted" of "talented" and Ath-Lita of "athlete" or [[http://www.athleta.com/ "Athleta"]]. Although "Talon Ted" could also fall under NonIndicativeName considering he's a pony, an animal that lacks talons.
** "Bill Dollar" is one to "dollar bill".

* TheSlacker: Talon Ted prefers spending time at work fantasising, rather than doing his job. In the original, he stalls a pony who had been waiting for his service because of he was imagining himself and the Mane 6 having a ''VideoGame/StarFox''-esque battle against his sister. Downplayed in the rewrite, where Talon's fantasy sequence takes place during his break.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Both Stone Heart and Talon Ted fall into this: Stone Heart since he's convinced his writing is perfect despite all the flaws in it and refuses to change because that would mean going against his preferences, and Talon Ted who is convinced he didn't need to go to college to be a successful actor even though he claims that no one would give him an opportunity without a degree, implying that he wasn't as good as he thought he was. He is supposed to be able to back up his talent, but he doesn't show it much, apart from being a great imitator.
* TheSociopath: Talon Ted shows all the traits. Let's go through the list: LackOfEmpathy? He dismisses Ath-Lita's feelings and is willing to rescind donations out of spite. Liar and manipulator? He uses Spotlight/Stager as a pawn to prove his point and deceive his sister and Twilight. Hedonistic lifestyle? He prefers to screw around and sit on welfare payments rather than actually do something with his life because he finds it more enjoyable than actually getting a job with a degree, so check. Lacks emotional attachments? Ath-Lita can tell you all about it. Grandiose sense of self-worth? [[SmallNameBigEgo You better believe that's a check.]]

* WellIntentionedExtremist: Ath-Lita. Her goal is to help Talon Ted get his dream job and stop him from being consumed by his ego and laziness. Her means include hitting him with a baseball bat, which makes him see her as an abusive criminal.

* WouldHurtAChild: Count Logan is not above [[spoiler:decapitating newborn foals himself]]. His minion Kamica is shown killing a mother and her baby simply ForTheEvulz.
** [[spoiler:Flurry Heart gets killed again in ''Darkness of Dimensions,'' this time at Spike's hands. And, as it turns out, Beast Boy doesn't need to be Count Logan to kill his own child!]]
** Whilst not physically harmful, Stone Heart is just as willing to attack Spike with nightmares as he is anypony else.

** Just like in Starfleet Magic, Cadance ends up here. The narrative treats her as the cause of the bad ending in ''Love Doesn't Work That Way'' and has to suffer through [[spoiler:the death of her child]] in ''End of Ends'' despite the fact she did nothing to deserve it.

* TheChewToy: Twilight is pretty much destined to fail in every single story (it's right there in the title) even when she has the moral high ground (which she usually does). And just like in Starfleet Magic, Cadance ends up here as she is treated as the cause of the bad ending in ''Love Doesn't Work That Way'' and has to suffer through [[spoiler:the death of her child]] in ''End of Ends'' despite the fact she did nothing to deserve it.
