** In ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry4'' Credo's status as a MasterSwordsman was largely an InformedAttribute, with his only onscreen fight being a loss against Nero after his transformation. Here he is a BadassNormal MasterSwordman who is able to give ''Erza'' a run for her money and has a CoolSword with [[PlayingWithFire various]] [[AnIcePerson elemental]] [[BlowYouAway modes]].

* JerkassHasAPoint: While he's an arrogant {{Jerkass}}, and condescending in his assessment, God Serena makes an accurate point when he says that Gran Doma might not be the best choice for running the government if [[VigilanteMan Crime Sorciere]] can deal with criminals more effectively than the Rune Knights can while simultaneously evading the latter. Even [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure Kurenai]] can't deny his claims.

* TokenGoodTeammate: Nero acts as this to the group sent to collect the clock piece from Fairy Tail, being the only one willing to talk things out and not being a {{Jerkass}} to the guild. Even when things devolve into a battle he makes it clear it's NothingPersonal, is JustFollowingOrders and shows regret at learning he's taking a keepsake from Lucy's father.

* AdaptationalBadass: [[AmazonBrigade Mermaids Heel]] weren't exactly pushovers in canon but aside from [[TheAce Kagura]] they didn't seem to have many notable members. Here they're considered the second strongest guild in Fiore (right after Sabretooth) and their master is the [[WorldsStrongestWoman most powerful of the Ten Wizard Saints]].

** Natsu is unable to access [[ShockAndAwe Lightning]][[SuperMode -Flame Dragon mode]] at will yet (though he can still eat lightning). Modeus suggests that his body has yet to adjust to the strain of using two magic's simultaneously, and can only suggest standard training for now.

* SecretKeeper:It's revealed that Jude Heartfilia was aware of his relation to Sparda's family, and even leaves a note for Dante revealing this before he dies, but kept it hidden to avoid any of the mans numerous enemies from coming after his family.

* WhipItGood: Lucy makes greater use of her whip for combat. [[spoiler: She also receives an upgrade in the form of [[WesternAnimation/Castlevania2017 the Morningstar]] from Capricorn]].

* InstantExpert: [[Averted Trope Averted]].

* OverprotectiveFather: [[DecomstructedTrope Deconstructed]] with Mark to his daughter Angelina. He disapproves of her relationship with Bradley, and tries to keep her safe, but does so by locking her in her room and slaps and yells at her when she disobeys. What's more, this dislike of Bradley causes him to suspect him of the recent murders and hire Fairy Tail to kill the man based on very little evidence, to which they vocally call him out on.

** In canon, Precht apparently [[FaceHeelTurn went mad]] after prolonged study of magic led him to believe that its true nature lay in darkness. Here, its because [[spoiler: his research indicated that ''Mundus'' was the source of magic, which led to him confronting the demon king on Mallet Island. After the [[CurbStompBattle 'fight']], Mundus exposed the wizard to his own demonic energy, [[BrainwashedAndCrazy corrupting him]], and instructing him to assemble a guild of dark wizards to find Zeref]].

* LightIsNotGood: Job is a Holy Devil Slayer whose element is light, using lasers and cross motifs in his attacks. He is also a member of Grimoire Heart, and refers to their mission to [[ApocalypseHow merge the human and demon worlds]] as a 'holy mission'.
* NobleDemon: Vergil has a certain code of honor. If he gives his word to an agreement, he'll hold his end to it. For example, when [[spoiler:Adrian/Beelzebub]] requests that once his part is complete, Vergil will kill him, the human-demon hybrid understands his situation completely and promises it with no strings attached.

** Romeo has a crush on Wendy before the timeskip.

* TheWorfEffect: To show how serious Grimoire Heart is, their [[EliteMooks scouts]] are able to critically injure [[MadeOfIron Gajeel]]. Later on, Job, one of the Eight Kin of Purgatory, is able to defeat [[spoiler: ''Dante and Lady'']] in a fight.

* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Amongst the Ten Wizard Saints, none of them like God Serena's [[SmugSuper attitude]] with Makarov being annoyed that his attitude hasn't changed in seven years.

** Kain Hikaru '''full stop'''. In canon, he was a joke villain whose status as MadeOfIron was PlayedForLaughs and allowed for the gag of using his own voodoo magic against him. Here, he benefits from AdaptationalIntelligence, and using voodoo magic on himself lets him give his body the properties of various materials including steel, diamond, lava, and '''light'''.

* Reality Ensures: During the fight between Gray and Ultear, the latter starts using [[AnIcePerson Ice-Make magic]] when Gray finds a way to bypass her [[TimeMaster Arc of Time]] in an attempt to gain the upper hand... and fails miserably. As Gray himself points out, she's relied almost exclusively on her TimeMaster powers for ages, whereas he's had well over a decade of practice with his [[AnIcePerson magic skills]], giving him the clear upper hand. In short, having another magic does not automatically give you the skill to use it effectively, especially against much more experienced practitioners.

* GreaterScopeParagon: Sparda has committed countless acts of justice in his life, much of which has an impact in present day. He defeated Mundus two millennia ago and sealed off the demon world, was good friends with the dragons [[spoiler:and Zeref of all people, and helped found Fairy Tail itself. Sparda would've even been its first guild-master, but not wanting Mundus to target it, he instead let Mavis take his place and had his influence scrubbed from the official history.]]
