** Normally in [[spoiler: Dad for One]] fics such as ''Fanfic/ConversationsWithACryptid'' or ''Fanfic/FromMuddyWaters'', the revelation is usually a major reveal or major ongoing character arc. Here, Inko and Izuku find out when Inko shows All Might her wedding photos. It's just something that Izuku and Inko have to deal with but not life-changing.
** All the heroes are annoyed that after all the fear they had over a potential I-Island attack that the villains were immensely stupid and easily foiled.
* AntiNepotism: Uraraka is rather upset that her best friends, when given a chance to recommend people for exclusive internships with two Top Ten Heroes didn’t consider her, their friend at all. Instead her friends picked people on standards they don’t tell anyone about so she doesn’t know how to make herself recognized. Unbeknownst to her, Izuku and Tenya decided their recommendations based on who did and didn’t benefit from the Sports Festival and the resulting internships. Monoma and Shinsou made terrible showings at the Sports Festival due to their Quirk being more suitable for espionage rather than a combat-focused competition. In addition due to FantasticAbleism, it would be a lot harder for the two to find good internships or any opportunities to train outside of school. Whereas Momo and Itsuka were badly screwed over by their internship who used them as props for a commercial instead of teaching them anything. Which badly hurt their self-esteems and left them undertrained. In contrast, Uraraka made a great showing at the Sports Festival and had a worthwhile internship which is why she wasn’t recommended.
* AppleOfDiscord: Hawks and Miruko had the best of intentions of trying to pick students who would benefit from their teaching and fighting styles. Unfortunately by giving their handpicked interns the power to recommend their fellow students, they ended up what was previous close-knit classes against them. Their interns decide to base their picks on two factors: helping their classmates who were unjustly screwed over in their internships and ease the widening jealousy of Class 1-B and General Studies. Which gave the implication that the interns thought the rest of their peers unworthy. The teachers are rather frustrated that Hawks and Miruko gave their interns too much power and the opportunity for them to be scapegoated by envious students

* ArmorPiercingResponse: When Bakugou asks why he didn't get an internship, Izuku asks back why did he think he ''deserves'' one.

** Endeavor essentially gets everything he ever worked for taken away from him. [[spoiler: He loses custody of his favorite child, has to set up a massive trust fund for the rest of his family, and is blackmailed into staying away. If he acts out, he will lose his hard-sought career.]] Considering what he's done to said family, it's hard not to cheer.

* AwfulTruth: [[spoiler: Kiyome's parents knew the entire time that the Commission had enslaved Keigo and Kiyome. They allowed it to happen because they saw Kiyome as a failure for not wanting to become a pro hero. They even helped the Commission cover up the truth in exchange for the money Kiyome would have made as a pro hero.]]
* BadassBureaucrat: Inko was a Management Department student who shaped Endeavor's agency into the powerhouse it is. While she's an average if intelligent civilian woman, she bravely stood up to Endeavor, a taller and powerful Pro-Hero, and gives him a painful groin attack. Just seeing her fills Endeavor with dread. When he has the Heroic Commission ruin her career, she doesn't let it get her down. She goes to law school and becomes a lawyer specializing in Heroic Law!

* CastFullOfGay: A notable number of characters in-fic are shown to have same-sex attraction.

* ChekhovsGag: Hawks notes that it's odd that Fuyumi is Shouto's emergency contact, not their father. Mirko asks Hawks if there's any way for Hawks to introduce her to Fuyumi. Hawks tells her there's a good chance that Fuyumi would eventually drop by the Aery since Fuyumi's Shouto's legal guardian. Mirko starts staking out at the Aery for the chance to meet Fuyumi. Her patience pays off when Fuyumi drops by to give Shouto his lunch. Fuyumi checks Mirko out and thinks how hard it is be a lesbian next to knockouts like Mirko.

** Hawk and Camie describe what a Shiketsu loser is. Four-five chapters later, Seiji is introduced and he fits the stereotype to the T.

** [[spoiler: Endeavor's abusive father convinced him that mistreating his family was normal.]]

* DareToBeBadass: Hawks asks Inasa should he bother recruiting him since Inasa didn't showcase any skill and let Camie do all the talking. This finally moves Inasa to stop hiding behind Camie and really impress Hawks and Mirko with his fighting skills.

* DepartmentOfChildDisservices: Inko attempted to call social services to intervene on Endeavor's abuse. The Commission bribed social services to disregard the case.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Hawks and Izuku are both protagonists to the story as the story centers on the two's actions and the effects thereof.

** Endeavor wanted his successor to have an obvious fire Quirk, fire-ice combo preferred and focused on his sons Touya and Shouto. He completely disregarded his other two children, Fuyumi and Natsuo as dismal failures for their ice Quirks. This is despite Fuyumi having a Methane ice Quirk and Natsuo having a Dry ice Quirk, which Toshinori notes would be extremely powerful in their own rights. Instead, Endeavor stifled them and refused to give them a chance.

** Hawks and Miruko were trying to find students who would benefit from an internship with them and didn't trust the Sports Festival to be reliable in showcasing skill. So they decide to ask their interns who amongst their peers they would recommend. Which unfortunately inflames the envy of their fellow students and gave them a convenient scapegoat.

** Dabi is on a mission to spy on I-Island. He is immediately distracted by Hawks. When Hawks propositions him, Dabi loses all focus and more concerned with holding his disguise during sex.

* TheDogBitesBack: Izuku tells off Bakugou why he doesn't deserve the internship and how Izuku told his new support system all the horrible things Bakugou did to him.

** Dabi is a Serial Killer and a terrorist planning to attack hero students even he’s disturbed by Muscular’s relish over the thought of killing defenseless children. He wishes that Muscular gets turned into Noumu fodder.

* ForWantOfANail: At first glance, the first major shift in the story is Hawks going to Hosu to help deal with Stain.
** Shouto hasn't visited his mother after the Sports Festival. Just because he had a speech that changed his worldview, it doesn't take away a near-decade of trauma and mixed feelings.
** Due to the teachers now knowing about Bakugou's past abusive behavior toward Izuku, they make sure not to put them on the same team in the finals.

** The Takami parents [[spoiler: are vile Stage Parents who tried to force their daughter to become a pro hero, then let the Commission enslave her and their grandson when she refused. This makes All for One's upcoming visit very satisfying.]]
** Todoroki Ryu [[spoiler: is a cruel and abusive man whose abuse of his wife and child shaped Endeavor into the terrible man he is in his attempt to groom his son into being the perfect hero. He enslaves Keigo and Kiyome without remorse and has his successors continue his vile plan.]]
** Saito Hana [[spoiler: is Todoroki's successor in the Heroic Commission is every bit as vile as her predecessor.]]

* HeroInsurance: The Heroics Commission give Endeavor a warning due to the collateral damage he causes in his fight. Combined with his more negative publicity, it tells Endeavor it will be difficult to reclaim the #2 spot.

* HistoryRepeats: [[spoiler: Ryu Todoroki abused his wife and child, so Endeavor does the same to his own family.]]

** Hawks' Quirk Fierce Wings got his abilities from his mother, Kiyome Takami's flight and hardening feathers and his father Kei Midoriya's minor gravitational Quirk.

** [[spoiler: A two-sided variant. The friendly Ashido refusing to work with Bakugou during the final exam battle against All Might. The normally prideful and aggressive Bakugou having to convince Ashido to work with him. They barely pass.]]

* ParentalBetrayal: The Big twist of [[WhamEpisode No More Cages]]. [[spoiler: The Takami parents knew that their daughter and grandson was being enslaved by the Commission and let it happen. In fact, they helped the Commission hide the situation from the Midoriyas and take a massive bribe to make up for their "failed investment" of a daughter.]]

* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Miguel Garcia, a political opponent of Alec Satre, once tried to make certain Quirks illegal. Quirks, which are inherently part of someone that people have no control of what kind they have.

** Normally the Heroics Commission would take months to update their Hero Rankings. Since their pet project, Hawks got massive amounts of good publicity for his takedown of Stain, they quickly release new rankings. Which pushes Endeavor out of his spot and gives Hawks the position of #2 Hero.

** Being an illusionist herself, Camie spots the illusion Hawks' receptionist Haruto has over his computer. The key reason Camie spots it is because Haruto's work computer seems way too old for a modern and high-ranking hero agency. The receptionist recruits her as an intern on the spot.

* WeUsedToBeFriends: Inko and Endeavor used to be friends as a Management and Hero students that frequently get caught together in antics. Their friendship fell apart when Inko caught Endeavor's abuse of his family.

* HeroesWantRedheads: Hawks checks out a cute ginger with a nice butt on I-Island. Which is unbeknownst to him, a disguised Dabi.

* AnAesop:
** Put yourself out there and ask for the position you want if you know you have the skill for it! Even if you don't get the position, you still might impress the right people.
** It's much easier to handle serious problems with the support of friends and family. Inko becomes a better parent and more proactive person once she has her sister-in-law Kiyome and best friend/girlfriend Aoi back in her life. [[spoiler: Hawks and Kiyome were able to escape debt enslavement through their family in the Midoriyas and their friends in the Aery.]] Shouto and the Todorokis finally escaped Endeavor's abuse when Shouto had the support of friends to be brave enough to go forward with the truth to Hawks.

* AcceptableBreaksFromCanon: The story was written almost a year before the reveal of Hawks' real name a few years prior to the Paranormal WarArc revealing Hawks' backstory. So Hawks' name and backstory had to be recreated wholesale by the author.

** Everyone that's not part of the Aery and Warren group is left out, so the author wouldn't have to juggle the entirety of Class 1-A, the I-Island cast and the villains.

* AdultsAreUseless: Izuku brings up how none of his teachers ever helped him nor intervened on the bullying. They saw Izuku as a Quirkless kid with no future and didn't even bother.

** Endeavor went through deplorable lengths to surpass All Might which includes using his family as his stepping stone. It's all for naught, his negative qualities drop him to Number Three. [[spoiler: Endeavor's treatment of his family is so horrible that it drives the other genuinely heroic characters like Hawks, All Might and Inko to intervene. So Endeavor no longer possesses his "perfect tool" Shouto and has to pay restitution to the family he neglected and abused. The more popular Hawks is being groomed to be All Might's immediate successor as Number One hero. ]] All his children hate and fear him. His reputation with the both the public and fellow Top Ten heroes is the toilet. Everything he worked as amounted to nothing.

* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Many people told Izuku and Neito give up trying to be heroes due to their abilities. Shouto is sad and angry on their behalf and frustrated that not enough people said that to [[TheFriendNobodyLikes Mineta]].
* AllohistoricalAllusion: Aizawa decides against having Bakugou spar against any of the Hosu Quartet because he doesn't want to give him an excuse to take his frustrations out on them. If only he had done that with Izuku during the Final Exam Arc....

* AnimalMotifs: Both Hawks and his mother have strong bird of prey motifs with their watchful golden eyes and tendency to ambush people. When it comes to Hawks' relationship to the Commission, there's a strong "bird in the cage" imagery.

All Might is furious and disgusted when he finds out the Commission's abuses and crimes. [[spoiler: All Might and his entourage march down to the Commission headquarters and give them a choice. Either the Commision releases Hawks from his illegal debt they forced on him, and give Hawks a permanent hero license, or, All Might will publicly denounce the Commission in front of the media and tell the Minister of Justice of all their crimes. Saito Hana, the Head of Commission, has no choice but to comply.]]

** Just when a Noumu kidnaps Izuku, Hawks reacts before anyone else. Hawks gets in the air, slays the Noumu and rescues Izuku before anyone could even process what happened.

** Mirko tears Vlad King a new one for overfocusing his students on Quirk training to the point of neglecting their physical training. Which would get them killed if his students had to fight an actual villain. Seeing actual students having to fight for their lives against villains and seeing fellow Pros maimed or killed due to poor training, Mirko sees having varied training as life or death. Vlad King defends that his students could die if they don't get fine enough control on their Quirks (bringing up that there are those, even in 1-A, that have potentially lethal side effects, such as Kaminari's brain frying or Izuku's... breaking of everything). He had the summer training camp and the winter semester to focus on physical training and he didn't expect villains to start attacking students and thought they would have had a normal school year!
** The results of the Hawks and Miruko internship picks ended up deeply dividing the students of the Heroic Studies and the resulting interns. The Heroic Studies students are understandably jealous that their classmates are training with two Top Ten heroes. In addition the interns are getting more opportunities to train outside of school and get the attention of the best in the Hero industry while in the rest of them in the dust. They have make due with only being able to train in-class twice a month while they get four hours every school day with the option of weekend training. The interns are getting better training and networking opportunities while they still make do with they could find for themselves or what the school gives them. In the interns’ perspectives, they managed to get a lucky break after nearly dying at the hands of a deranged Serial Killer. They need the additional training because they are all targets in their own rights for various villains who want to hurt or exploit them. When they made their recommendations to pick amongst their classmates, they decide to chose the ones who wouldn’t have the opportunity in spite of their skill (Monoma and Shinsou) or were screwed over by unscrupulous media-hungry heroes (Momo and Kendou). The teachers are trying to head off on what’s going a major dividing issue before it boils over.

** Hawks is as big a fan to Endeavor as Izuku is to All Might. But he lost all respect for Endeavor and is heartbroken when he finds out that his once-idol abuses his family.

** While Mina didn't like Bakugou's attitude, she still saw him as a friend. She's angry when she finds out about Bakugou's cruel bullying of Izuku through the rumor mill, and learns that it's all true.

* CassandraTruth: Izuku is so used to authority figures ignoring him about Bakugou bullying him that he's weirded out by Hawks, Mirko and Inko's genuine concern and disgust at Bakugou's actions.
* CastHerd: Besides the ones from canon, there's the Aery: Hawks, Kiyome, Steps, Haruto, Fumikage, Dark Shadow, Shouto, Tenya, Izuku, Camie and Neito. Then there's the Warren: Mirko, Momo, Itsuka and Hitoshi.

** ToBeLawfulOrGood: Many heroes are so focused on following the laws or toeing the party line that they ignore being good. The police try to cover up the Hosu Quartet's involvement so they wouldn't be embarrassed. The Commission covered up Endeavor's abuse because of his high criminal apprehension rates. Whereas Hawks willingly works with vigilantes, tries to be as honest as he can and focuses more on being a good hero and person.

* ChekhovsGag: Hawks notes that it's odd that Fuyumi is Shouto's emergency contact not their father. Mirko asks Hawks if there's any way for Hawks to introduce her to Fuyumi. Hawks tells her there's a good chance that Fuyumi would eventually drop by the Aery since Fuyumi's Shouto's legal guardian. Mirko starts staking out at the Aery for the chance to meet Fuyumi. * ChekhovsGun: Fuyumi notes that their father never hit her despite him abusing her brothers and mother. She notes Endeavor hitting her would be especially bad considering her Quirk. A couple chapters later, its revealed that Fuyumi has a Methane ice Quirk.
* ChekhovsGunman: Touya Todoroki. His siblings mourn him and think on his passing. Whatever happened to him was so traumatizing that Rei blocked it out. His abuse at Endeavor's hands caused Inko to turn on Endeavor and got her ousted when she attempted to report it. His role as Dabi and role as GreekChorus to Endeavor's fall from number two hints at bigger things to come.

** Hawks mentions in Neito's introduction how its really bad for heroes when politicians get involved, wordlessly telling Shouto that politicians pressure the Commission. When Neito's mother, Aoi gets involved she proves Hawks right. As the ambassador to France, she has a direct line to the Prime Minister and Minister of Justice. Which gives All Might's ultimatum to the Commission much more weight.

** Izuku believed that Bakugou's cruel bullying was acceptable due to Bakugou's strong Quirk and potential as a hero. It didn't help that his old teachers supported this by letting Bakugou get away with his cruel treatment. Izuku's rather bewildered when Inko, Hawks and Mirko are horrified by this and break it to him that they were wrong to do so.
* ControlFreak: Endeavor tries to control his "perfect creation" Shouto's life to the minute. Had not sending Shouto to a hero school would have potentially raise suspicion, Endeavor wouldn't have. When Shouto gets out of his sphere of influence, he attempts to tell Hawks what he is and isn't allowed to train Shouto in.

* ContinuityNod: Neito notes that it's easy to raise a child into villainy, like in the case of Shiragaki
* ConvenientlyUnverifiableCoverStory: With the reveal of Izuku's true Quirk, Izuku has a new cover-story for One for All. Izuku found out about his Quirk when he accidentally copied All Might's Quirk. All Might found out and kept him close to train him. With the true nature of Izuku's Quirk and status as a late-bloomer, it disguises the existence of One for All and justifies why Izuku knows All Might.

* CripplingOverspecialization: Vlad King focuses overwhelmingly on Quirk training over any other type of training which deeply limits his students' capabilities in battle. One trick ponies don't last in the business and villains will exploit any weaknesses they spot Justified, Vlad king intended to focus first semester on quirk training to prevent potentially lethal incidents, and had planned for the summer camp and winter semester to focus on physical conditioning, he did not expect villain attacks in what he thought would be a normal school year

** The Monoma parents fudged their son's Quirk registration due to the number of European human-trafficking rings that keep an eye out for children with powerful Quirks.

** Pop☆Step breaks it to Tenya that the Stain Incident happened because Tenya hadn't thought about how he could defeat an S-Rank villain without a plan nor backup, not because Tenya broke the rules.
** Inasa regrets his impulsive decision to forgo his Yuuei recommendation and attend Shiketsu once he actually gets know Shouto and his Yuuei counterparts.

** Hawks and Miruko were trying to find students that would benefit from an internship with them and didn't trust the Sports Festival to be reliable in showcasing skill. ** Hawks is a highly skilled hero and fighter, capable of navigating the politics between the Commission, fellow pro-heroes, and the police with a sharp eye for talent. That said, he sometimes lack major common sense such as flying into closed windows and accidentally kidnapping a student in his overenthusiasm.
** Izuku has sharp analysis and a great drive to be a hero. That said, his tendency of muttering his thoughts in public and tendencies of leaping before looking gets him into trouble.

* {{Elopement}}: Kei and Inko's parents disapproved of Kiyome and the feeling was mutual with Kiyome's parents. So Kei and Kiyome ran away together so they could get married. Kiyome admits that it was a bad idea in the long run, because they had no outside support system when things went wrong.

** Saito Hana is introduced, marveling how certain heroes were both competent and popular. When she notes the Yuuei Big Three, she notes that she must get Mirio away from [[TheMentor Sir Nighteye]] to join another agency, so that she can get him under the Commission's influence.

** Sekijirou is appalled how Uwabami and Mount Lady exploited their interns.

* ExplainExplainOhCrap: After revealing how Inko found out All for One is her husband, she tells Gran Torino that she and Izuku's haven't seen him for seven years. She only knows that he's still alive through the monthly child support checks. This gives Gran Torino the horrible realization that All for One survived his fight with Toshinori and is still at large.

* FakingTheDead: With their obvious grief and clear mourning of Touya, its clear that the Todoroki siblings believe their elder brother is dead. Dabi says otherwise.

** Takami Kiyome, Hawks' mother, is one to Todoroki Rei. They are both parents with powerful children and their agency was stripped from them by forces out of their control. They are separated from their families: Rei to being sold by her family to marry Endeavor, and Kiyome because her family and in-laws disapproved of her marrying. Which prevents them from raising their children how they like, they constantly have to run interference to how their children were trained, and are both abused as a result. But Rei's [[SanitySlippage sanity was sapped]] by [[MaritalRapeLicense being forced to bear]] and protect four children by her [[DomesticAbuse abusive husband]], while Kiyome had only one child out of a [[MarryForLove loving marriage]]. [[spoiler: Combined with Kiyome's former training as a vigilante,]] Kiyome was better able to stand her ground.
** Hawks is one to Shouto, his fellow LaserGuidedTykebomb. Both were groomed since childhood to be heroes regardless what they wanted, with mothers who couldn't help them out of their situation. Shouto would have gladly cut his feet off to spite Enji, but Hawks made use of all he learned from the Heroics Commission.
** Mirko and Uwabami are both high-ranking female heroes. Uwabami is popular for her friendly demeanor, while Mirko is infamous for hating to work with people and her aggression. However, Uwabami exploits her interns for her own personal gain without remorse, while Mirko makes sure that not only does she get only the most skilled interns, she also makes sure she's gets the ones that would benefit the most from her guidance.

Are we talking about Shouto and his father Endeavor,[[spoiler: or Endeavor with his father, Todoroki Ryu]]?

** Todoroki Ryu [[spoiler: abused and raised Endeavor into being a hero that the Commission could have complete control over. It backfired as Endeavor become too powerful physically and politically for them to control, and refused Ryu to have any contact with his grandchildren. In the end, Todoroki Ryu was forced to retire which destroyed most of his political power.]]

** Izuku just tells Rumi and his fellow interns the truth of his Quirk and villain dad in order to prevent future cases of PoorCommunicationKills by telling them how his powers work and the potential danger of All for One.
* HoneyTrap: Hawks hits it off with an attractive redheaded investor during his mission on I-Island and invites the man to his hotel room. Unbeknownst to him, the investor is Dabi, one of supervillains Hawks is on-alert for. Although seducing Hawks wasn't part of Dabi's given mission, he seduced Hawks because he had a huge CelebCrush on the former.

** Stain gets out of his handcuffs while everyone is distracted by the flying Noumu. Does Stain uses this opportunity to escape? Nope. He chooses this moment to give all the heroes (excluding Izuku and Hawks, because they were actually acting like he wished heroes would) a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech. Hawks shuts him up mid-speech.

* HopeIsScary: Shouto is bewildered and terrified that Hawks is attempting to intervene on Endeavor's abuse.

* HypocriticalHumor: Mirko likes to tease her interns for making a big deal out their love lives and acting over infatuated over their crushes. It's constantly pointed out that Mirko does the same over Fuyumi.
* HypocrisyNod: Mirko would like to tease Inasa for being so smitten with Shishou. But she realizes that she can't throw stones since she could barely talk to her own girlfriend.
* HystericalWoman: Endeavor dismisses Inko's accusation of his treatment of his family being abuse as her being ridiculous and blowing things out of proportion. Because this is shown after the effects of his physical and emotional abuse of his family are laid out, this makes him seem like a misogynistic jerk.

* ILied: A heroic variant. Monoma Aoi threatens to tell the Minister of Justice of all the crimes the Commission committed if Saito Hana doesn't release Hawks from his illegal debt and never threaten to take his hero license away. She has her bodyguard secretly record the entire meeting, and she's going send the footage to the Minister of Justice anyway.

* IndenturedServitude: [[spoiler: How the Commission traps Hawks and Kiyome: they pay for their living expenses and school tuition by loaning them money with very high-interest rates. Then when Hawks became an adult, they pushed him into founding a hero agency. Running an agency straight out of school has many expenses like employees' salaries, maintenance, and equipment costs, which forced Hawks into deeper debt and firmly under the Commission's control. Even though Hawks was a Top Ten Hero, his salary still isn't enough to pay the €70,000,000 ($80,000,000 USD) debt!]]

** Without even being physically present, the Takami parents pulled one on their daughter. [[spoiler: They told the Commission that as long as they were paid, they didn't give a shit to what the Commission did to their daughter and grandson. The mother, Himari even said that Kiyome deserved to be enslaved for being such a bad investment and for her refusal to be a pro hero.]]

** Hawks notes the tendency of HotBlooded heroes of charging in without a plan and hyper-focusing on specific targets. Which would get them killed because they don't pay attention to what's around them or to the plans of their fellow heroes.

* LeonineContract: When Keigo was discovered as a child to have massive potential as a hero, the Heroics Commission gave an offer to Hawks' mother, Kiyome. The Commission would pay for all of their living expenses and Keigo's schooling in exchange for them training Keigo to be a pro-hero and Keigo having to follow their orders once he becomes one. Kiyome had no other choice due to them living in poverty, as Kiyome has difficulty finding work as a single mother of a young child. Kiyome's parents disowned her, and her in-laws seemed to despise her, so she has no help from her family. Hawks was railroaded into becoming a pro-hero with his mother frequently clashing with the Heroics Commission in his defense. While initially Keigo is trained gently, Kiyome would intervene if the Commission would push Keigo too hard. She wasn't always successful. Hawks recounts a handler beating him in front of his mother to show that she's ultimately powerless and the Commission makes the decisions.
** Hawks feels that Izuku's acceptation of One for All is this since Izuku would finally be accepted by society if he did. The narrative makes clear that Hawks is projecting his own experience onto Izuku.

* LetsSplitUpGang: Izuku, Mei and Melissa head for security. Neito, Shinso, Momo, and Inasa take the villains on the 80th floor up while Kendo, Fumikage, Tenya, and Shoto, take it from 79 down. Camie takes the point at the bottom while Bruce stays behind because he's an untrained civilian.
* ALighterShadeOfGrey: The All Might-Hawks faction share the same tendency for blackmail as their rival faction the Commission. But they blackmail to save the victims of the Commission's coverup, free Hawks and his mother from enslavement and reform the Commission.

* LittleNo: When Inko tell Endeavor that he has to give up custody of Shouto and make a trust for his family, Endeavor gives a defiant "No."

** Monoma, Inasa, and Camie knows there's something going on with Todoroki's situation and Hawks, but can't place their finger on exactly what.

* LonelyTogether: Neito, Maya, and Bruce were each other's {{Only Friend}}s growing up, as they were ostracized to due to political connections, temperaments, or Quirks.

* LoveMakesYouDumb: Mirko hates working with people. Despite that, she starts her own internship program in the hopes of impressing Fuyumi.

* MakeOutKids: Once they confess their feelings for each other, [[spoiler: Izuku and Shoto]] make out for fifteen minutes. While everyone else just awkwardly ignores them and play cards while they wait for Hawks to show up.

** Inko met Hisashi when she accidentally spilled coffee on him when she crashed into him on the way to her finals when she was a law student. She didn't realize that she left behind her wallet until she tried to went home and he called her. He got a date from her, and the rest was history.

* MommasBoy[=/=]DaddysGirl: Monoma is very close to both of his parents. He frequently writes them both separate emails despite both of his parents share their emails to ask how each of them are doing. Monoma frequently asks his parents for advice. He's happy that his mother is going to visit him in Japan but sad and understanding to why his father can't make it.

** Midoriya Izumi and Reo were deeply remorseful that their meddling drove their son and daughter-in-law to cut ties from them. Once they got the news that Hawks was their grandson, they rushed to Mustafu to apologize to Kiyome in person and welcome her and Keigo into the family.

* NamedByTheAdaptation: As of the story's publishing, Hawks' civilian name hadn't been revealed. The author dubbed Hawks Takashiro Sora. As of January 30, 2020 his name has been edited to his canon name Keigo Takami.

** Bakugou ignores and is pointedly rude to Haruto, the Aery receptionist when he demands to see Hawks. Haruto and Camie have none of that and Camie throw Bakugou out.
* NoBadassToHisValet: Everyone in the Aery is willing to roast Hawks for his stupidities. Fumikage calls Hawks a thief and a magpie for his accidental kidnapping of Monoma. Kiyome will never forgive him for jumping out a window to test out his wings as a child. Dark Shadow roasts Hawks for flying into a window last week.

** Justified David Shield had all the blueprints destroyed and begged to his superior to allow him to destroy the only prototype of the amplifier to avoid it falling into the wrong hands.
** Dabi is frustrated that Wolfram plans to throw Dr. Abrahams off the roof after taking the amplifier when Abrahams is one of the only two people that would know to make it.

* NotSoSimilar: Mirko saw something of herself in Bakugou: hot-headed, powerful, and bad with working with people. For this, she considered taking Bakugou on as an intern. She quickly reconsiders when she finds out that Bakugou is a bully that suicide-baited a Quirkless person. For all of her lone wolf tendencies, she cares about protecting people and ''can't'' stand bullies.

* ObfuscatingStupidity: Camie is the third smartest student in her year at Shiketsu. While most of her ditziness is genuine, she acts ditzier then she actually is, because she regards her classmates as being too uptight.

* OddNameOut: Phantom Thief is on a team with Gale Force, Creati and Shinso. In Shinso's defense, he didn't have time to make up a name.

** Izuku's uncharacteristic message to the class group chat is what leads to Tokoyami and Hawks to check out his coordinates.

* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Miguel Garcia, a political opponent of Alec Satre, once tried to make certain Quirks illegal. Quirks, which are inherently part of someone which people have no control of what kind they have.

* PowerParasite: Izuku is a rare heroic and downplayed example. His original Quirk, Copy All, allows him to copy Quirks from their original owners, keep the copy, and then make use of them in the same fashion with training. As a result, he lacks the moral dilemma of stealing a Quirk because he needs or wants it, unlike his father All for One who he got that aspect of his Quirk from.

* RansackedRoom: When she sees a letter on her desk in her locked home office, Aoi immediately knows that someone broke in. The letter carries a warning from the Songstress.

** Monoma doesn't have any of this. His observational skills were learned and had to find out the limits of his Quirk the hard ways, such has the hospitalization the one time he tried to copy a mutation Quirk. In addition, he doesn't have natural protections some people would have from their own Quirk when he copies them.

** Normally the Heroics Commission would take months to update their Hero Rankings. Since their pet project Hawks got massive amounts of good publicity for his takedown of Stain, they quickly release new rankings. Which pushes Endeavor out of his spot and gives Hawks the position of #2 Hero.

** [[spoiler: Todoroki Ryu was the former Head of the Heroics Commission. Through them, he got away with his own abuse of his wife and son, covered his now-adult son's abuse of his family, and enslaved Hawks and his mother in his bid of making a high-ranking hero under his control.]]

* ShootTheShaggyDogStory: Kei's parents forbade them from marrying [[spoiler: out of fear that Kiyome's vigilantism would get Kei killed]]. It backfired because they eloped anyways and never spoke to them for decades. It was ultimately pointless because Kei died due to mundane causes without ever seeing his parents again.

* ShutUpHannibal: Hawks gives a nonverbal one to Stain by kneecapping him when Stain attempts to give another TheReasonYouSuckSpeech to the pros that didn't act fast enough.

** Endeavor is miffed that Shouto assisted Izuku during the Stain Incident. As far as Endeavor is concerned, no Midoriya deserves Todoroki support after Inko betrayed him. He'd rather his son ignored Izuku in the aftermath instead of becoming friends with him.

* SleazyPolitician: Ryu Todoroki is implied to be one. Aoi Monoma calls him an old fossil that thinks he's more important than he really is.

* SpiritAdvisor: Neito ends up meeting Nana in his One-for-All induced vision. She tells him that he shouldn't be there and was lucky that he didn't die. But she wishes him the best of luck and tells him to watch Izuku's back.

** When Tomura starts looking over the League's intelligence reports, he quickly realizes something is amiss. Tomura realizes All for One has been watching the Midoriya family as long as Izuku been alive and the dad is out of the picture with no picture in his profile.

** Endeavor is the Stage Dad from hell. He constantly controls his son Shouto's life in an attempt to have Shouto surpass All Might, which he can't do himself. He's physically and verbally abusive, attempts to micromanage Shouto's life and training and tries to have Hawks continue to do so on his behalf. Hawks is both alarmed and horrified when he realizes what Endeavor's really like.

* TheStarscream: Wolfram was placed as Dabi's second with explicit orders from All for One to keep the latter safe and not to hurt nor kill him. Despite that, Wolfram resents having to take orders from a younger villain that he immediately disregards Dabi's orders and plans to backstab both Dabi and Tomura.

* StrugglingSingleMother: After Kiyome was widowed, she struggled to support her and her son. People didn't want to hire a single mother with a young child.

* SuperiorSuccessor: All Might regards Hawks as the superior Number Two Hero because people like and trust Hawks. Hawks doesn't ruin people's faith in the hero system like Endeavor does. People are soothed by the possibly of Hawks becoming the Number One Hero once All Might retires. As Toshinori puts it:

* TechnicianVersusPerformer: Mirko points out that Bakugou will probably break into Top Twenty based his skill and power alone. That said, Bakugou will never get into the Top Ten, because people want heroes to genuinely heroic and compassionate, something that Bakugou severely lacks.

* ThickerThanWater: Once Hisashi finds out that Hawks is his nephew through his beloved Inko's family, he does what he can to find out everything to find out about Hawks, as well as push things into Hawks' favor.

* TruthSerum: Louis Argent, Aoi's bodyguard's Quirk Brutal Honesty is an area-of-effect ability that compels people to the speak only the truth and volunteer any information. Saito Hana couldn't stop telling the truth even when she wanted to.

** Bakugou considers Izuku, his biggest rival for the title of 'strongest student.' Izuku doesn't have time to react to Bakugou's constant baiting and nor does he care to.

** Endeavor. [[spoiler: Todoroki Ryu raised Endeavor to be the perfect pro hero and abused him terribly to keep him firmly under the Commission's complete control. It backfired as Endeavor refused to do anything that anyone else tells him, especially his father, and became too dangerous for them to control even with the proof of Endeavor abusing his own family. Todoroki Ryu couldn't even take one of Endeavor's children to groom, because Endeavor refused to allow him anywhere near his own children. So Todoroki Ryu enslaved the young and talented Hawks, so they could have the perfect, powerful, and attractive propaganda hero that wasn't allowed to refuse anything they asked him to do.]]
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Endeavor was once a much kinder person, considering he used to be friends with Inko and Tomoko. Back in their UA days, he tried to keep the two of them out of trouble, using his fire powers to mitigate the damages their antics would cost. But then Endeavor became blinded by his ambitions and frustrations towards his goal of beating All Might. He coerced Rei to marrying him and used her to bear four children in hopes of having a child strong enough to defeat All Might. Endeavor beat his wife and children for not meeting his standards and neglected his eldest children when they were perceived to be "useless." When his friend Inko attempted to report him on his family's behalf and stop him from abusing his family, Endeavor had the Commission cover up the charges, had Inko discredited, and ruined her career to the point she had to start over completely.

* TheWatcher: Dabi's self-appointed role in the League of Villains is to catalog all the surveillance for the Aery, the All Might agency and the Endeavor agency in which the League has spies or cameras on. This mostly allows him to act as a GreekChorus without actually having to be near anyone them. [[spoiler: That changes when All for One has Dabi cement his loyalty to the League.]]

** Mirko is disgusted on Kendou and Momo's behalfs that Uwabami used them as commercial props and didn't bother to actually teach them anything.
