Sometimes the canonical Crystal Gems take the place of the original Homeworld Gems, although this doesn't always happen. ** There are numerous {{Fix Fic}}s, {{Deconstruction Fic}}s, {{Accusation Fic}}s, and {{Dark Fic}}s for the episode "No Such Luck". The episode involves Lincoln's family ostrasizing him due to perceiving him as bad luck. It's played for laughs but involves such things as making a ten year old ''sleep outside at night'', which fans felt CrossedTheLineTwice and was OutOfCharacter for his siblings. Invariably, many fics for the episode involve Lincoln being kidnapped/killed due to his family's neglect, [[TheRunAway running away]], or feeling depressed due to feeling his family doesn't love him.

* The ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' fandom is overflowing with {{crossover}}s in which the usual cast interacts with their [[GenderFlip gender-flipped]] counterparts from the "[[AndNowForSomethingCompletelyDifferent Fionna and Cake]]" episode. This is despite the fact that "Fionna and Cake" took place [[spoiler:in an [[FictionalDocument in-universe]] RealPersonFic]]. ([[spoiler:Although it could be {{justified|Trope}} by a hint from WordOfGod that Fionna and Cake nonetheless exist in an AlternateUniverse.]]) Sometimes the characters meet via magical means, but just as often they [[RememberTheNewGuy act as if their doubles have been around this whole time]], and it's especially common for them to be each other's siblings (Fionna is Finn's twin sister, Gumball is Bubblegum's older brother, etc.).

* While still a burgeoning field, several ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'' fanfics involve giving [[DumbIsGood Leni]] a SuperPoweredEvilSide that's been [[SealedEvilInACan repressed through medication]]- ''and then let it out''.

** Felix, Marinette's beta LoveInterest, being Adrien's elder brother. For what it's worth, when he shows up, they downplay his cold and jerkish tendencies to be a somewhat nicer brother. To go along with that, the beta version of Marinette, who fans have decided to nickname "Bridgette" for mostly unknown reasons, also pops up in this kind of fanon, more often than not as Marinette's sister.

Meanwhile, Bill Cipher himself becomes a wimpy triangle demon that got enslaved and ordered around by the twins. Often through the influence of the mystery duo's, they eventually end up warming up to them and starts being nicer people, albeit still not tamed though.

** Stories involving one or more of the remaining Miraculouses being given to new holders. Typical candidates include Nino becoming the holder of the Turtle Miraculous (usually being mentored by a retiring Master Fu), Chloe getting the Bee Miraculous ([[spoiler:soon to be canon]]), and the Fox Miraculous going to Lila, Nathanael or Alya ([[spoiler:likewise, soon to be canon]]). The Peacock Miraculous doesn't show up as often (due to currently being in the hands of Gabriel Agreste), though Alya has received it in a few fics. There are also a number of AU fics where the Ladybug and/or Black Cat Miraculouses go to different people and Marinette and/or Adrien get different ones - Ladybug!Adrien and Chat Noir!Marinette is especially common.

This caused [[NiceGirl Pacifica]] to realize that they are not as bad as they seem and will try her hardest to bring out the good within them, eventually managing to have the twins pull a HeelFaceTurn with Dipper having a relationship with the very same girl that he tried to kill.

* A common ''WesternAnimation/SheZow'' fanfic plot has Boxter somehow learn [=SheZow's=] true identity as his son. Much [[HilarityEnsues Hilarity]]/[[PlayedForDrama Drama]] Ensues.

** Lapis Lazuli joins the Crystal Gems. Peridot and Jasper [[HeelFaceTurn may or may not follow]]. Funnily enough, [[spoiler: the first of these characters to join ended up being ''[[HeelFaceTurn Peridot]]'', after mouthing off to her superior near the end of season two. Lapis is adamant about not joining the group in any capacity.]]

** WordOfGod is Lila has [[StepfordSmiler darker side]]. Fanfic writers go with this, either making her secretly [[StepfordSmiler troubled and traumatized]] or [[BitchInSheepsClothing mean and bitter.]]
