* ''Comments'': An elegantly-executed ForWantOfANail story that drops a single event - the fire at Longbourn - into the familiar plotline and explores how the sequence of events is impacted by it. The changes unfurl very naturally from the point of divergence; conflicts from the original story are headed off before they can take root, but new ones take their place, maintaining the feeling of suspense until it reaches a proper and satisfying resolution. This kind of plotline can be hard to do right, but Caress definitely nails it.

''The Muse'' by Jessica Evans
* Recommended by @/JoieDeCombat
* ''Pairing(s)'': {{Official Couple}}s
* ''Synopsis'': Elizabeth is the newest ''corps de ballet'' dancer at Ballet Theater of New York, and she's excited to be cast in the latest work by star choreographer William Darcy - until she realizes what a haughty, demanding perfectionist he is and overhears him criticizing her. She has no idea why he keeps enlisting ''her'' as his guinea pig while he perfects the ballet's ''pas de deux''. And she very definitely doesn't want to be as attracted to him as she is.
* ''Comments'': ''The Muse'' is a modern-day retelling set within the competitive and drama-riddled world of professional ballet, and Evans clearly knows her stuff. The plot beats of Austen's narrative are smoothly and beautifully translated into the updated setting; nothing feels forced, everything is recognizable but also natural and original. Discovering how the story interprets each character, event, and iconic scene is a delight.

''Mr Darcy's Persuasion'' by Cass Grafton and Ada Bright
* Recommended by @/JoieDeCombat
* ''Pairing(s)'': {{Official Couple}}s, plus Anne Elliot/Captain Wentworth
* ''Synopsis'': Vexed over the aftermath of the Netherfield ball, Elizabeth escapes to Somersetshire for a two-week visit with her friend Anne Elliot, only to discover that Mr Darcy and his sister are also guests at Kellynch for the winter. Though deeply unimpressed by the company she's found herself in, Elizabeth does her best to be a staunch support for Anne, especially after her friend receives some devastating news. As her stormy relationship with Darcy plays out in this new setting, secrets old and new begin to surface, and Darcy finds himself caught in a web of intrigue that he'll have to unravel quickly if he hopes to have any chance of happiness with the woman he loves.
* ''Comments'': This novel combines the plots of ''Pride and Prejudice'' with Austen's ''Literature/{{Persuasion}}'', with Anne and Captain Wentworth becoming the BetaCouple to the battleground that is Elizabeth and Darcy's relationship. The writing is absolutely on point, delivering real tension and emotion and no shortage of witty humor - especially when family members from all sides of the equation start feeling the need to get personally involved.

''Fearful Symmetry'' by Gailie Ruth Caress
* Recommended by @/JoieDeCombat
* ''Pairing(s)'': {{Official Couple}}s
* ''Synopsis'': When a fire breaks out at Longbourn shortly after Jane and Elizabeth return from their stay at Netherfield, the entire Bennet family is forced to rely on Mr Bingley's hospitality and shelter, and Darcy and Elizabeth are forced into much closer proximity than either of them reckoned for. The disaster alters the course of events and their understandings of one another, but the time and cost involved in restoring the Bennets' home only widens the gulf between their standings in the eyes of society, making any hope of a relationship between them that much more precarious.

''The Mysteries of Pemberley'' by Amy D'Orazio
* Recommended by @/JoieDeCombat
* ''Pairing(s)'': {{Official Couple}}s plus Col. Fitzwilliam/Anne de Bourgh and [[spoiler:Mr Bennet/Charlotte]]
* ''Synopsis'': Elizabeth made her sister a promise on her deathbed: to love and care for her son, young Charles Bingley, like her very own child. Four years later, however, Darcy shows up in Meryton claiming legal guardianship of the boy and determined to remove him from everything he knows. Determined to honor her promise to Jane, Elizabeth forces Darcy to bring her with them to Pemberley, where shadows and secrets lurk in every corner and she soon finds herself trying to unravel the mystery of Darcy's past and the fate of the young lady whose journal she stumbles across.
* ''Comments'': D'Orazio re-imagines ''Pride and Prejudice'' from a romantic comedy to a gothic romance of the period. It's set in late 1816, the "year without a summer," and the writing evokes a sense of unease and deep tragedy weighing heavily over the proceedings, expertly wielding DramaticIrony to craft the story's mysteries. It may be a heavy read for fans who don't like to see the beloved characters suffering, but fans of angst shouldn't miss it.
* ''Content Warning:'' Character deaths, depiction of spousal abuse, and a sexual assault.

* Synopsis: In this alternate version of the story, Caroline Bingley decides that she's not going to take the chance of Darcy slipping away from her, and perhaps proposing to Elizabeth instead. She intends to force him into marriage by compromising him at the Netherfield ball. Unfortunately (for her), her plan requires the active assistance of her sister, Louisa Hurst -- who, angry at Caroline, develops a plan of her own. Mr. Hurst, less sleepy and lazy than his sister-in-law has ever guessed, proves an able helper. A laugh-out-loud comedy, with surprisingly happy endings for most of the characters.
* Pairings: Elizabeth/Darcy, Jane/Bingley, the Hursts. There are more, but to identify them would spoil the story.

Though the syntax is occasionally clunky and the writing is peppered with homophone confusions, the excellent worldbuilding and characterization more than makes up for it. *Comments: One of the best Nonpublished P&P fics I've ever read. It deals with mystery and murder, not unlike that of Death Comes to Pemberly. However, this time around there is more than danger to our main heroes, Eliza and Darcy. Definitely an emotional rollercoaster and a thrilling read. Also has a [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10986014/1/To-Love-and-Cherish sequel]] Which is equally recommended, dealing with Georgiana and her first year out as an Eligible Bachelorette and her trials with finding love.
