as per discussion here

Spike only wants things to stay the same. Time, however, has other ideas. He's going to need a lot of help... It's a story about growing up, learning and being accepted.

WAFF is now on Sugar Wiki.

* {{WAFF}}: Suffused with heartwarming moments. E.g. Twilight is Spike's sister, for ever and always, and nopony is allowed to say otherwise - not even Twilight.

**Razorfang, too, since his [[spoiler:mate was killed by ponies who wanted the land, and his sons for trying to avenge her.]]

*HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:Grape Vine,]] has a MyGodWhatHaveIDone moment after the various protests turn into a mob. She later testifies against [[spoiler:Blarney Stone]] for attacking Spike.

Added DiffLines:

*[[ThinkOfTheChildren Think of the Foals!]]: Grape Vine says this in chapter two. Later, her protest organization's name, ''Parents for a Peaceful Equestria,'' exploits this trope.

The fic had its final update almost two years ago. That doesn\'t qualify as \"recently completed\" anymore.

[[AC:'''Note:''' As the FanFic this page is about has only recently been completed, this trope page is currently under construction. Anypony who has read [[FanFic/ItTakesAVillage It Takes a Village]] should feel free to add any tropes we seem to have missed.]]

The story mostly fell on the side of \'living forever is awesome\' once Spike thought about it a bit and got Luna\'s advice, or it seemed so to me.

* WhoWantsToLiveForever: Spike is not happy about his projected lifespan, although Princess Luna did provide some perspective along an offer of friendship.

to:

* WhoWantsToLiveForever: Spike is not happy about his projected lifespan, although Princess Luna did provide some perspective along an offer of friendship. On the whole mostly averted once Spike decides that by living as long as he will he can keep the memories of his friends alive for their descendants.

At least until Spike is bombarded with rather scathing hate-mail [[spoiler:and a death threat]]
